K-9 Mail works for me- multiple/ unified inboxes, optional encryption, push IMAP support- everything I'd want on a mobile.

Interesting video, good work. Sony is also doing a lot of work opening their phones to devs and alternate OS-es . I wonder why not more projects are recognizing this.

You can install NetGuard firewall by M66B from Github or F-droid and put it in whitelist mode and then choose which app gets access to internet and which doesn't.
Since NetGuard acts like a VPN + I need a VPN on my phone + I can't run (2 VPNs) NetGuard and my VPN at the same time = I use the firewall app AFWall+ to block connection for everything except what I allow.
I use OSMand as my main navigation app, although i have a not degoogled phone. I use navigation often in no mobile service territory and a offline gps only app is a key point.

I've used /e/ Foundation's ROM on my Moto G a while ago. Try and see if any of your devices have a supported build for it, if you'd like to try the OS.
Otherwise, if you'd like to buy a Fairphone, (or any other preloaded device, for that matter) definitely go for it.

In case anyone needs it, Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite are a thing. And according to Aurora Store, Facebook Lite has no trackers and Messenger Lite has 2.

There is K-9 Mail for e-mails instead of Outlook, and it's a lot better.
I recently unlocked my bootloader and went with LineageOS because I rely on many apps from the playstore for work, but I'm really itchy to try out Graphene tho.
And just to clarify, a rooted phone is not a security risk if you use magisk for instance, it requires biometric auth to unlock an app to use root and only the owner of the phone has root access, the catch is the unlocked bootloader, especially if you don't encrypt your data and only if an attacker acquire physical access to the device which would allow "him" to sideload monitoring software to do anything really. You have to be carefull to which apps you do give root access tho, but if you are techy enough to go about unlocking your bootloader and rooting your phone you should have some common sense or at least not give the random chinese gamepad app root access to your phone.

About the email client, most people use K9-mail, It's FOSS, I haven't tried it myself, but you might be interested in trying it out. Also, when looking for FOSS alternatives, alternativeto. net is an awesome site as it lists all the alternative software in existence and you can filter it by free / open source. Take a look there too.
Also, will you cover MicroG services? It's basically a FOSS google services that fixes apps that require it (like the ones that don't show notifications)

The e Foundation and Fairphone are 2 separate entities.
the e Foundation produces /e/ (their OS name) which is based on Android.
Fairphone is a private Dutch company which produces Fairtrade cellphone, which are easily repairable (you can change camera, screen, obviously the battery and a lot more, they also sell the spare parts, but you can't change the software (easily, there are ways to root it)), and they use normal Android.
The e Foundation sells Fairphone 3s which are flashed with /e/.

I love the outlook app, if it was with a self-hosted imap account. With gmail, google puts ads in your inbox masquerading as messages. Ads as messages outnumber actual messages about 3-to-1.
I use GApps Browser (found on F-Droid) as a Gmail and Google Drive client. It's basically a sandboxed web app browser.

I ran into this video while looking for a single site browser solution similar to the ice-ssb on Linux. But watching the video I see you have not mentioned any similar option.
So I searched the web and found Hermit
I installed it from Aurura (it has 'only' 2 trackers) and was able to use it for gmail, Google Drive.
So far looks good ...would be interesting to know if you heard of something similar?
Another option I thought about is compiling a wrapper to each website separately.... what do you think?
I use NextDNS to block trackers. The blocklist can be customised and is easy to use.
I’ve been using a PiHole for over a year. Been liking it but having to maintain another OS and device is a drag. Never heard of NextDNS until now. Trying it out and quite impressed. Especially for what it provides for parental controls. Wow. Enforce google safe search and TH-cam restricted modes. Need to read up on it and whether I can protect individual iOS devices with their own custom configs.
I’ll be setting it up on my router and maybe find another use for my PiHole.
I use the Warden app from xdlabs to turn off all trackers from different apps.
Outlook is awesome, I have used it since it came out. Good info.
Okay, so...
Outlook is indeed awesome, but I prefer Spark for E-mail. Works pretty great :)
For TH-cam, go for Vanced if you want a good TH-cam experience
And, for Maps, use both Here WeGo from Nokia and Waze for those big travels in car :)
Waze belongs to google and uses google maps, It wouldn't surprise me if WeGo used maps API either, you are drinking Snake Oil friendo.
Yup those are probably the best alternatives right now for a functional map, however both are influenced by google. It is only a matter of time before they cross that line. I hold out hope that OSMand gets better and is a good alternative.

About WeGo... I think it uses a proprietary one, but I'm not so sure about it.

What about Fair Email for email? I've been using it for a while and it works great with all email accounts!
You mentioned some of the trackers in Spotify (like fb share) "don't exist" while others do.
Is there a way you know that, or a way we can test that if we want to download from aurora?

Also Pixel 4 support would be provided if there are developers who would want to support the device (that is for every device not just only the pixel 4).

Thr Zero Phone is an interesting project.
You can connect any account to Fairmail as well. No clue ab out the trackers, because I don't have a DeGoogled phone.

Since I first watched this video five FOSS apps on F-Droid got bought up by Google especially the map apps.
For map apps, I just downloaded Transportr. It is just beginning I think but seems to have promise.
What about Aptoide? Does it also have trackers just like Aurora?
Btw I started using Yandex mail instead of Gmail and it works really great.
Just checked in Aurora store, Facebook has no tracker and What's app has only one tracker, how do they make profit without trackers nowadays? Does it mean those are more dangerous apps? BTW your mic sounds good.
How do we verify that the info shown on the Aurora store are being truthful regarding trackers? Is there a way to verify these using the spot check method?

Would you try tile?
Superuser privileges need to be granted (via the Magisk, Supersu etc. app) before an app can take over the base system. That said, rooting your phone is not a security concern unless you allow it to be.
Bromite is a good secure browser. K9 mail works well for email
I use netguard as a root-less firewall.
It allows for a hosts list, of which I use StevenBlack's over from github.
On your list you have Ring. I have it on my Pixel 6, however, I don't get notifications. Any suggestions?
Bromite is a chrome alternative to chrome and it is more privacy secure. Its on fdroid. But it requires a repositories

Try F-droid alternative named G-droid. Generally idea the same. Repository same, quality same, but... developer target is to share F-droid with user rating and curating of apps (in companion of Mastodon social media), better sorting and filtering.

There are apps that have no trackers in Play (Aurora), as listed by Aurora. Not many, but they exist. FX file explorer, Total Commander, Titanium Backup, Total Launcher, Anysoft Keyboard, Simple keyboard, just to name the ones I have installed and handy.

Microg now has signature spoofing. TH-cam TV, music, and TH-cam all work with microg. For TH-cam TV just turn on it'd permissions before loading the app.

Maybe not just the phone, but all the OSs that you can install in any Android, like CopperHead OS for example that is focused in security. Many Android OSs tutorials here in Utube.
CopperheadOS is a scam, it's a proprietary version of GrapheneOS that you have to pay for.

It's all about trail and errors. As any app crashes log files reports must be sent to data center in order to prevent further incidents. and since people they have come up with their own innovations they have their own store. Me as a user expect a seamless user experience .I came across a article where some app work without the internet specially digital payment app any idea?
Google Snapseed works without Google! I only use it for DNG files, and it works wonders, not even a warning.

Best android email client app is Nine. Don't know how many trackers. It costs $10 or there abouts. It can be used with gmail or microsoft outlook (I use outlook).

You can degoogle your phone without changing the stock rom and without rooting it. you can delete google packages using adb terminal commands with shell commnads :

None of these are uninstalling the apps. It's somewhat similar to disabling apps

as long as you dont subscribe to the app there is no connection between your identity and the tracking app..so basically when u download through aurora, as long as you dont insert your details u r ok..of course, on the main apps like spotify, youtube, gmail and so..it takes away the magic if you dont subscribe but thats how you can find by yourself the balance..
I use FairEmail, works like a charm on a de-googled phone.

It depends heavily on what you want, if going full open source is your goal fennec and icecat are probably your best bets, but bromite is really really good too in the chromium side of stuff and they have many privacy focused defaults too.

What do you mean "open source version of Firefox"? Firefox is open source. Also, check out Bromite(recommended by privacytools.io).
Well he probably wanted to say free of trackers because as far as I know on F-Droid that version has trackers stripped out. At least that's what I think it is.
What is a good weather app? I currently use My Radar and Radarscope, this is the one thing that is holding me back from De-Googling my phone, I understand weather apps are some of the worst offenders on tracking any suggestions?
