I told my friends/co-workers that "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic At the Disco is one of the best white boy songs I've ever heard. Now they're sending me song suggestions and I'm doing live reactions here.

Korn is considered Nu-Metal, they were the pioneers of it. Slap funk bass lines. Turntable inspired guitars. They took metal to new places. Also, lyrically they were rawer than a lot of metal contemporaries. I've been working through a lot of childhood trauma and Korn helps because Johnathan's been through it too.

Especially a song like Daddy. That is almost impossible to listen to for me, it's less of a song and more of a tattoo on his heart. The album follow the leader helped me process a LOT of trauma growing up, most of the times I would listen to it while I walked and i'd just space out. I like how he is like "you can't sit still!" but if you have ever had a screwed up childhood and really listen to the lyrics... man it just expresses your emotions like steam coming out of a boiling kettle, you don't need to do anything but just listen.

Korn goes deep with the lyrics. Kinda like Rage Against the Machine, but more personal than political. You really should pull the lyrics up. But they do kick ass. I saw them live once, and it was a hell of a show. Freak On a Leash, Somebody, Someone; There's a lot of great stuff. Blind. No one sounded like Korn when they hit, man. They blew our minds. It wasn't grunge....it was kinda metal....it was NuMetal. Something we had never heard before.

Korn is ... impossible to remove from the personality of modern rock music. They are absolutely a key peice in building the Nu-Metal wave of the 2000s into metalcore and so much more later in the 2000s. Every single modern group in Djent, or Progressive rock, or any of the niche metal genres owes Korn practically everything.

I 1,000% played this on my cd Walkman, headphones blaring on the bus & walking the hallways in high-school. Sometimes while tripping on lsd. Yep. The 90's were nuts.

The band was actually afraid of this song...
It's mostly because of the weird "disco" drum beat, which was so different from the rest of their catalogue (much heavier metal).
Anyways, they were genuinely afraid that this song could be death of them because they thought their hardcore fans would hate it and consider it too poppy for their standards.
"Got the life" ended up becoming one of their biggest hits.

people around 18 years old in 1990 had a great time with music in that decade let me tell you. I adore the 70's and 80's but i was mind blowed by the 90's music. Nothing damn compare!! lol

When I discovered Korn, I was kinda shocked and thrilled. I traded CD's with another platoon member in basic training one weekend, and I wanted something "harsh". The other guy said "yeah, they're pretty harsh". Korn absolutely delivered. Smash some turntable skills together with brutal, angry metal; and stir in some 80's and 90's rap presentation, and you end up with some amazing sounds completely unlike anything the world ever produced. The only other band that ever affected me as much was Nirvana.
Also, "I write sins not tragedies" is an amazing song, NGL.

Loved the react, I still get just as hyped as I did when it came out.
You need to check out Blind from their first Album,
also A.D.I.D.A.S but not as react, lyrics and YT algorithms wouldn't get along

Oh we on Korn now? Check out the remake they did of the old funk song from Cameo, "Word up". Decent take by a metal band on a classic black song. But the best 2 Korn songs a down south nigga like me ever heard coming up in them late 90s/early 2000s was....No One's There and Trash. Korn didn't do masks they mostly looked like a more goth/part hip-hop Cali type. Main singer had a lot of rap influence. They basically started the nu metal/Linkin Park phase where metal all were rapping and had Djs like bands Limp Bizkit and Incubus. U gotta check the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, perfect time capsule of metal from that era
