Sometimes I think casinos do themselves in on how the settings of the machines are set. I see a slot that’s new and decide to play it and it doesn’t pay or go to the bonus or it goes to the bonus and the payout is very small. Next thing you know I’m cashing out and moving on. I may try the machine again on another visit or I may not. Once I try a machine about 3 times and have had no luck I usually just pass it in by never to play it again.
That's usually just how that particular game was built, volatility wise.
Yes they do. Real quickly too. Living witness here.
Choctaw Durant in the last two years has routinely been removing VERY popular 3 reel machines and replacing them with electronic machines that aren’t being played. A few three reel machines have been replace with new three reels that are programmed VERY differently.
It’s curtailed our play tremendously. Thinking about replacing gambling with pickleball 😂
Our casino took out the progressives, and the next month, they gave out toasters and crock pots. Great.
That would only be the case if they removed all progressive machines. The standard practice is to roll them into others.
Hey....at least a lot of people got toasters and crock pots. No way all of those players would have won a progressive 🤣
One local casino took out some games from a back corner, which were fun to play and people were playing them. They replaced them with some slightly newer games that nobody is playing at all. Old game was fun. Medium-high in volatility. New game is higher volatility.
Really sucks to go in to play and see one of your favorites just gone. This happened to me, walked in one day and played. 2 days later the games were gone.
That's a sign of a slot manager that doesn't know what they are doing. :)
Some are superstitious about payouts. These happen at casinos that aren’t doing well. Of course some still do it anyway but not frequently.
I really miss the old machines from the 90's in Australia. It may just be nostalgia, but i swear they were a lot more fun to play then most of the new games these days.
I hear what you're saying about machines that disappear. I just hope the Ainsworth machines never go "the way of the dodo." My wife and I were at Seneca Allegany last weekend, where, like an amateur, I played penny machines for 3 days and lost around $500. On the last night, before going up to our room, I sat down at Dollar Action and won back more than I'd lost. Before crossing the border, we stopped for lunch at Seneca Niagara. After we ate I went to an 8 machine bank of Ainsworth machines. I played Dollar Action, Dollaroo, and Panda King and had a great session run; I won over $2K in 30 minutes. That doesn't happen every day. We quickly hit the exit and headed for the border.😂

This explains some of what Ive noticed at the casino my wife and I frequent (Bally's Evansville). The themed games, (two come to mind: The Godfather and Willie Wonka) sometimes haven't stayed on the floor very long. WW was probably less than three months and then it was just gone.
OMG almost 27k subs,I remember 900 subs. Great info & tips.
Thanks Michele - we remember you from the start. :)
I hit a sizable hand pay on a slot 2 weeks ago, I went back 3 days later...it was gone. Nowhere in the casino . Darn the luck
Bullshit!!!! As a trucker, I used to go to Vegas every week on Sundays and over a two year period they removed 13 slot games that I constantly won on. They were 1,5,10 and 25 dollar machines. Out in the main walk way areas. I only had 2 hrs to play weekly and there was only 4 weeks out of those 2 years I didn't double my paycheck. They had people watching me every Sunday when I came in thinking I was cheating somehow but I wasn't and they took all machines I played OUT. This was in Jean Nevada back in the 80's.
You really think the casino cares about your 2 hours of weekly play and the few grand you claim you won when you did? I think you're putting way too much importance on yourself and your results. I'm certain there were plenty of people losing money on those games, and all of the others, the time you weren't there. They had their reasons for removing those machine but I'm sure it had nothing to do with you, as much as you may want to believe it did. If they really thought you were cheating they could have just easily and likely would have just barred you from the property. Why would they remove the machines but allow the "cheater" to remain. Just doesn't add up.
You make so much sense. We love Gamble Smart! Love it! I am looking forward to my next visit to our favorite resort at the end of the month! Using your ideas and tips. Nothing guarantees big wins, but honestly, if you cash out for more than you out in, you're ahead. If we don't come home winners... the fun factor is all we care about. We need a four day break from reality! ❤ Gamble Smart, Gamble Safe y'all!
Very good informative video. Nice job. I too get disappointed often when my favorite machines disappear. Seems my local casino does not like the old school low volatile machines. Very few left and now I have only about 5 machines that I play.
Me and my friends got the 1 grand offer at least 20 times between 2 casinos. 3k offer once betting on 5 dollar 3 cred. Top dollar premier was the game. Don't see it anywhere anymore
Yeah, that one didn't perform well - a lot of people didn't play it.
@GambleSmart the new 10 line double top dollar rarely gives me a good offer. The old one gave better but premier was the best
Good Morning Marc. Thanks for information.
We had an old school double top dollar machine ($5 denom) at our local casino and they moved it from their "High Limit" room to their VIP (or higher player club) room. I was so bummed as that was my favorite one to play!
It seems some VIPs may have wanted it all to themselves 😁
@@kevinb4079 right!!! Those people could probably buy their own to put in their house!
@@kevinb4079 right! And they can probably buy their own machine if they wanted to lol!
Great info ❤
I love the channel!! So much good information keep it up guys🎉🎉
Thanks Marc.
I also seen where a fairly new machines were put in, played a lot, then taken out! Lasted at the casino for about two months. So it must have been set to generously? Idk 🤷🏻♀️ Manufacturers can make a good slot but if it’s not active people won’t play it or if it’s active and never really get a good hit people will move on.
Casino should be happy with making a loss for one/two weeks the higher the loss the better chance customers will return with those winnings.!!! Casino are there long term and all slot games will return a healthy revenue if they are played daily. A winner will always return a loser will not.!!! I personally think a small percentage of slot machines running with a 100% RTP isn’t a bad option to get more customers in the door.!!!!
Even a 100% RTP game is going to produce many losers. It just wouldn't play that much different then a machine set at a lower RTP. There still needs to be losers to produce winners and those winners don't have to be big winners. You can take a game with a 90% RTP and design it to be 100% simply by adding a few low paying symbols on the reels or slighting increasing what some of the lower line hits pay. That's not going to produce any more big winners.
I remember that MGM Lions machine, it was based on the Blazing 7's single machine progressive that are still around. They paid really well except that one machine. Not sure it got into the millions, but definitely tens of thousands at the very least because it stayed there long after they took out all the other machines like it. The new MGM Lions machine I've seen and played and are nothing like the old ones. They're much higher volatility than the old ones and not one I'd play because it's hard to get the bonus pays.
Yup, it hit at $2.4 million
@@GambleSmart I didn't think it got that high, but that's crazy for a dollar machine. 🤑
Yeah, it's kind of like the lottery, the higher it got, the more it got played. A few years before it hit, there was actually a line of people waiting to play.
I go to Hollywood in Indiana. The entire bottom floor is empty now. Used to be full of slots and a World Tour Poker room. Empty floor means less money you’d think.
A few machines had a very high progressive of over $90,000 and they just disappeared. Thought they couldn’t remove until someone won. Guess they combined it somewhere else, but not sure since those were so high.
It could be they moved the progressive or it could be the progressive was won so they decided it was a good time to remove the machine.
Nice session thanks ☘️☘️☘️
Thank you 👍
They sure do! The casino I went to admitted it! 😮 They claim they didn't perform well. 🙄😒
My local got rid of a bunch of old Aristocrat games. Outback Jack, Cashman variants, Wicked Winnings 2, etc. There must also be a reason related to age or availability of buttons or parts or as their reason was, software updates, for mass removal as well as what you discuss here.
Yeah, that could also be a reason, but even the older machines casinos usually have a large collection of parts. But, sometimes it's just like getting rid of a car that requires constant attention and replacing with something that has a warranty.
I'm a big fan of the old Aristocrat games such as the Sun and the Moon, Black Stallion and others they had a simple pay table and the bonuses were straight forward. They were also great games for low budget players because you could get nice hits without playing all the lines. I believe that more than anything is why they are no longer on the floor.
Saw an interesting sign on my last cruise in the casino there. It says the casino reserves the right to reset progressives between sailings. Sketchy!
That's interesting - haven't heard of that before!
@@GambleSmart Happy to send you a photo of it if you'd like. It was on Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the seas a few weeks ago. I'll be on Wonder of the Seas in a few more weeks and will check to see if it's there.
I did notice the week prior they changed the min-bet on dragon-link from .50 to $2.50, which increased the grand, I wonder if that had anything to do with the new sign.
So around 5am what are the black boxes that the casino attendants have in their hands asking u to get off the machine or they will close off a section to do whatever they need to with those black boxes? What are they doing?
That's the cash drop. They are swapping out the cash cans in the machines.
Those are the cash boxes that go inside the machines. They take the one in there out and put in a new empty one for the next day to collect. Those are then taken to the back cashier room emptied, counted, sorted, and then reused the next day.
I'm certainly not an expert on slots, but in indiana one of our new casinos that just opened closed several machines after about a week. Guessing as high as 1% of machines were shut down, they placed a sheet of paper on the front and they just sat there. I inquired of a person working at the casino that I knew if they had broken that quickly, they indicated the machines were paying too much and were shut down until the manufacturer could look at them. Most of these machines disappeared shortly after. Weird
That's highly unlikely to be the reason in any Class 2 or 3 casino. It's true that manufacturers do get calls from casinos freaking out that the games are paying too much, but the answer is always the same. Give it time and it will balance out like the mathematical program is designed to do. Before these games are even allowed anywhere near a casino floor, they go through many, many tests, including with 3rd party non-affiliated auditors to ensure the mathematical probabilities are within a 90% confidence range.
The non server base machines can be audited... historically they can get a printout at what transpired in those machines.
They are almost all networked now so they can see realtime statistics of the coin in/out at any given time. I've worked with the software before, it's pretty cool. BUT, that doesn't mean they can change the payback % and such (just always have to throw that in there lol)
I think they do!!
Patti, really?
They got classic double top dollar in quarters at my casino. So hard to find nowadays, they just took out 2 of the 6 that were quarters and moved the other 4 to the front of the casino. Have a feeling they’re all going bye bye soon 😢
Where is that at?
@@GambleSmart Hard rock in Hollywood Florida. I asked to speak with the slot manager to give my input on keeping these older games but of course I was never contacted lol
Mark, you did a video a year or so ago about a bank of machines at Aria that had the same deal with they can't remove them until they pay the progressive. I believe it was $1 denom $5 max bet. I tried them last June but didn't hit anything. They were quite old i remember
There are a couple - The 5 line $1 Double 7's Jackpots and then the 2x3x4x5x Pay, which is a $5 denomination.
They were the $1/5 then because I don’t remember playing a $5 denom. They were near the main exit if i recall.
Most importantly. Casinos don’t program machines. The state commission does. The casino doesn’t even have the ability to.
The state commission just sets the minimum and maximum allowed. Casinos are in charge of setting the payback % from a few options. But, the casino can only make changes in the presence of gaming commission.
I think a good episode would be about the lore of “plants” that are people paid to gamble and hit jackpots. Are there people in the casino that are actually paid to play? Like undercover guest to subjectively analyze the service, and the overall sentiment of players? State auditors? Undercover wardens?
If multiple casinos have say the Wheel of Fortune progressive slot and say the Progressive jackpot is $10 million and all these slots are hooked together to build that type of Jackpot and say someone hits it in the MGM,is MGM on the hook to fully pay out that jackpot or do the other casinos have to pay a portion to MGM?
Those types of jackpots are typically managed and paid by the game manufacture.
@@kevinb4079 No kidding? I keep more knowledge on slots....🥸
I listen to you all the time you are more reliable to listen I wish you not only give your opinion we love to you going in a cruise y play in their casino I has been doing that for 32 years and I am 100 por cent sure 98 per cent of people than gamble there end up losers
Being from Texas, Choctaw and Winstar are my go to casinos. I've read up on some of the laws in Vegas. Are the Oklahoma laws just as good or are there any quirks about Oklahoma law that benefit the casino that doesn't happen in Vegas?
They are basically the same - both of those casinos are highly regulated by the state and tribal system.
Moving slot machines is an old strategy... it moves players from to a Less Traveled floor... some machines are never moved they just change out the faceplate... some machines that pay too much they take them out... I once made a mistake and telling somebody about a machine I won off of... sure enough that machine was gone, I'll never do that again.
I have given up on Double Diamond (new cabinet); $2,400. JP ($1x3). Really…no line hits; got $150. Once & mixed bar dbl once; over 4 visits! Can’t be the machine u guys recommend; or set to rob us. It’s beside a Double Gold $1…which pays great, once it begins to pay. Very puzzling, as the only DD machine in the building is buried upstairs by the drink machine…& is absolute garbage. 🤔
I have a question. I know that slot machines have a percentage that they pay out. Is the percentage based on the machine or is it based on the game. Where I live we have slot machines with multiple games on them and the people say if it paid out or locked up the night before don't play it because they're assuming that any other game on that machine will not pay out. Are they correct?
Do class 2 tribal casinos have the ability to change the payout chances on a slot or is it still random?
Yeah, that sounds fair, to rent a machine from a manufacturer, give that same manufacturer a cut and then bring that same manufacturer in that's getting a cut to so called "fix" the machine. How can they expect people to think things are on the up and up? I mean, how often does the so called gaming commission make sure these people/casino is on the up and up
More thank you think.
My local slot manager doesn't have a CLUE.
I have a question -if a machine reaches its payback percentage say like 89% does the process start all over again or does the machine just tighten up-I hope you understand what I'm asking.
Completely understood what you are asking. No, the machine plays exactly the same on spin #1 as it would on spin # 10,000,000. It doesn’t actively “balance” to maintain payouts. It all happens naturally through probability distribution.
One thing to keep in mind. After a machine has MANY thousands of spins played it has taken in and paid out millions. Even something like a 10K jackpot isn't going to move the actual payback % very much. It's pocket change to the machine once it gets to that point. So even if the machine was paying 85%. A 10K jackpot may move the average to something like 85.5% at most. What seems like a big number to players is small beans to the machine and the casino.
4 sure
Hey Marc, what's up with the casinos disabling a slot machine one week then it's playable the next? Not just once but time and again. I play a Buffalo Gold machine that stays in the same spot but is disabled one visit then is working the next. This has gone on for over 6 months.
Have seen this also multiple times. Unknown !
Redwolf, it is a conspiracy. Relax there is a reason , but one of them is not because you are winning too much.
Maybe some VIP whale has it locked up?
There are a lot of reasons for this. Malfunctions is the most likely reason. Buttons not working, screen issues, sound issues, etc. A lot of the newer games have these issues more often than the older ones.
Who has top dollar machines in northern Illinois?
GVC in Elgin does. Right side of the boat, on the left just before the high limit area
Random payouts. So funny
Not in bossier they got their own rules there 😖
You mean the LA gaming commission has their own laws? Of course. Only took me a few seconds to find the Louisiana Gaming Control Board website complete with all the laws a regulations and more for you to review if you want to know what those rules actually are.
My local casino high limit room need help!! They keep removing old style machines and replacing them with $1, 9 line machines. I believe $1 machines should be on the regular floor. Nothing less than $5 s/b in there. Since Covid they have a very strange mixture. Like they were spaced apart for 😷. Just venting!!
And they did take a very nice lucrative wof out a while back. It had a “scattered” 7 feature that came out very often, giving you a wheel spin. 😢
Well of course they want u to spend more credits per spin.used to be three now it’s nine!
Tell me about it. I can't stand the new 9 line Double Top Tollar that's 10 credits a spin instead of a single line 2-3 credits per spin. More $ for the casino to get per spin.
Check to see if the new machines payout at the same rates as the old ones. Have seen people paying higher bets per spin and NOT winning the same amount based on bet per line. Pay attention to the details. Yes you can win/jackpot yet do NOT accept lower payout rates per line/bet.
👀👀👀👀
It was over 20 years I do belirve I read that But not 100% sure on that about the Lion machine
