I had a pblm, one time. I know I put 2 $50 bills in but the machine only showed 1.
I called the floor attendant and she called another person. They opened the machine and found the second fifty stuck in the machine never processed.
I was right and all solved.
I enjoy this type of info. Keep it coming.
😊
Thanks so much for sharing this! I’m going to save this so I can show people who think the casinos can go in and change the RTP whenever they like!
This is great! Whenever I walk by an open newer cabinet in the casino, I always give it a glance. This was fun to see! I do like menu diving and seeing all the settings. Thanks, Marc!
I had the following happen about 20 years ago at Slots A Fun. I put $100 into a VP game and nothing registered. When the attendant came they saw no signs of a jam and in the menus it said that the last 4 bills put in were 20’s. They ended up pulling the cash box, walking it to the cage, had me stand outside the cage while I watched them open the box and very gently, like with 2 fingers, pulled the top bill from the box which was the last one that the machine took. It was my $100 of course and I got it back, which I immediately had them break into 20’s. It was very interesting seeing the auditing in the machine.
It is so "freeing" to play now, knowing the casino can't change the RTP with a flip of a switch, just because. Thank you for that!
Marc, I watch all of your Gamble smart videos, love the tips but a video like this I find is most interesting, (somewhat a computer nerd here) and at one time I actually wanted to go to school for this part of the industry. Please do more of these type of video's. Absolutely one of the best I ever watched from you. Thank You so very much! Best of luck out there to you and your crew.
What an opportune video. My sister just had a machine lockup (her words) at Santa Fe Station in Vegas last night. The attendant tried reprinting ticked but nothing was there. They had to go to accounting to verify that her stated coin in was true before issuing her a voucher.
More video 'zooms' would have been nice for those of us watching on our (tiny) phone screens. Thanks for the effort to let us peek inside.
Noted!
Surprised people still think casinos can change RTP anytime after seeing this video. Crazy! Great info Marc thanks, good luck in Vegas next week!
Very interesting your video!!!🙏🙏🙏
That was very fascinating Marc! Hopefully it will quell some of those myths
Great video Mark...that was interesting to see the inside of a slot machine. Thank you!!
Thanks Marc, I love the tech stuff. Keep up the good work !
Thanks Marc, appreciate you showing the inside so we know. I probably still wouldn't understand it 😕 all but that's why we have you and Dave and Brantley. Have a Blessed Day.
That was so cool!!! Thank you for the tour. 😊
I enjoyed seeing the innards of the machine so much!! Ty!!🎉🎉
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing this.
@GambleSmart
I'm so happy Marc that you have made this video you going behind the scenes of slot machines. 🙂👍
Another good video, thanks Marc. Hey I was hoping to see the money grinch who takes the money!
Loved this video! Thank You for sharing this information!
Now that was interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Really interesting and informative. Thanks and keep the education coming.
This was so informative. Thank you!
Very Interesting. Thanks Marc.
Great video. Very informative. Thanks for sharing this information 😅
Thank you Marc I I miss watching you at home slots fixing your machines this was great Marclove it ❤
Very cool. Thanks for sharing
When a see an opened slot door, it looks so simple with mostly empty space inside. It's so amazing just how intricate and complicated they really are. The memory cards in those machines must be huge. I just wonder how many 'gig's or terabit's they are? Thanks for the walk through!
Basically all of the modern slot machines use a solid state drive (SSD) like you would find in a computer, they are usually only 64 GB to 128GB in size typically from what I've seen in most of the modern cabinets.
Thank you for sharing the knowledge with inquiring minds like mine...
My pleasure!
Wow great video thanks for taking the time to explain things.
Best video you done yet. A longer more detailed video would also be good.
Thank you I watch your program every day.
Great video!
I went to school for IT, and I still fix and build computers. Inside the slot machine is similar to a computer or cash register computer tower. I actually replaced a power supply in a cash register once.
Great video 😊 thanks
I really love your videos, I love the casino and all the behind of scenes and with you I really feel like if I’m learning something that could make me a better player and decision maker( in gambling)😂
Awesome video, Thanks :)
How do I get my own Huff n Puff machine? Might be cheaper in the long run than using the casinos...lol
I can get you one, they aren't cheap though!
Awesome video
Love your videos
Thank you
question: the red hot tamales and golden 7 are low or high volatile machines?
First of all, great content! These kinds of videos are awesome.
Secondly, I imagine that it’s pretty difficult to have this happen, but do slot machines ever ‘freeze’ or crash? And if so, is it the slot techs job to generate a diagnostic file for the manufacturer?
I work in software quality assurance for point of sale and self check out machines. And I was watching the video I thought to myself ‘this thing has a lot of similarities to a self checkout’ 😂
Obviously the self checkout has more…’functionality’ that it has to worry about more than a slot machine does, but I’d be interested to see if the slots run into similar type issues
I had a tilt only once in 30 years of playing slots. The machine clearly showed 3 blazing 7s on the payline, but showed 'game over' instead of the jackpot handpay amount i expected. Called the slot attendant who called the tech. He opened it and showed me the video replay of my last spin but it didn't show three 7s, so I didn't get paid. I even had them call the gaming commission who sent someone down. They shut down the machine and examined it. Called me back a couple of days later and said there was no tampering, just a tilt. I know each machine clearly says tilts won't be paid out, but when it is still displayed on the screen, why doesn't that count? How do I know the internal video replay isn't the one with the tilt?
Slot techs are more IT than mechanic nowadays. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing! I noticed theme options - are you instantly able to turn that cabinet into another game?
No, requires a full ram clear.
We’re do you get your slot from? Can the average person buy one?
I have dealers that I buy from - yes, anybody can own one.
@@GambleSmart we’re do you advise someone to buy from?
Depending on what you are looking for, I might be able to get one for you or make recommendations. Feel free to email me: gamblesmartgamblesafe@gmail.com
Question. What operating system do slots run. i seen in your "power failure" vid upon reboot, it looked like Windows Vista Boot screen. Do the slot machines run Windows or Linux? What software is installed on the OS. Can you do a video of closing the "Slot Game" program and showing the underline OS. When I was in the military, I worked at the US Cyber Command, always been fascinated with purpose built machines and their underlaying software. Thanks for the great content.
They all use different OSs from time to time. Windows 10 is common, but most often it's a custom linux distribution.
This is true. Went to eat with a high tier player. She didn't use her comps. It was free, for those players only. They put an Out of Service sign on the machine, so no one would play it during our dinner.
Back in 2021 I had the strangest error occur. I was playing at the Cosmopolitan and played my ticket down to $100.68 then hit cash-out. The machine then printed out a ticket for $500.68. I thought it was an print error, but I took it to the ATM and sure enough, $500.68 came out! I was in disbelief. I went back to the same machine and it functioned properly the second time. I have no idea what kind of error would cause this, but I didn't say a word 😅
And no, I did not confuse 1c for 5c. I was certain how much I had.
Very interesting. Thanks for the information. Can a slot attendant show you the payback percentage on a machine?
No, they can't. :(
Marc .. Great video !! On the Slot Tech screen METERS the Total OUT and Total IN is not totaling 107.52%. Same with TOTAL Money Won/Wagered. Thanks
I believe you're getting confused because he put a big voucher in and still has credits in the machine. Otherwise actual coin in (i.e wagered) is 814947.08 and coin won is 876248.00.......876248.00 ÷ 814947.08 = 1.0752207370324 = 107.52207370324%
I was hoping you’d show the table with all of the different outcomes and the percentage chances? Or is that not possible with these newer machines?
What you're looking for is the PAR sheet. Those are not contained within the machine itself - those are only available direct through the manufacturers (behind a login).
@@GambleSmart ah right, thanks - the ones you’ve shown before must have been screenshots rather than in the machine… someone needs to show @VegasMatt 🤣
High rollers are not the only ones that they will reserve a machine or put out of order.Typically they are but not this time. One time, I needed change. I had a lot of 20's.I found an attendant I didn't want to count the pocket of 20's right there. They took me to a counting room. They said next time that it happened and there was not a person to watch the machine, they would turn it off.Turns out I had over $1100 dollar in my pocket. I asked for 100's.That was a good trip. Wish I had the gamble box that trip. Never be afraid to ask.All they can say is no.
If only there was a Huff n More Puff set at 96% out in the wild!!
There are :)
Mark, I was at Harrah casino two weeks ago, I inserted a $100 bill in on Top dollar, hitted one spin at $3. Cashed out at $17.85. I had their floor manager assisted me with the situation. I asked to see the above camera, they refused. They said it wasn't $100. In this case, nothing I can do without the camera...this happened to me at Sky River Casino, too. They refused to show the recording. What can we do? The gamming board called me...but I said to drop the complaint. Just don't go there anymore. Has anyone ever experienced this slot machine errors?
Touch to say - but the machines are pretty accurate with keeping track of what bills were entered. They use the same technology that most banks use. Not much you can do in this case.
Why can't they allow us to review the recording? So they can embarrass me at least....if I was making thing up.
So went to ATM, it charged $7.99 per withdraw, I betted bigger on different game, got all money back with some profit. Parking fee was $35 @ Lake Tahoe casino . No wonder it's like ghost town now. Thanks for the advice on gambling.
How do you "make" vouchers for these home games? Or put "money" in them to play them?
You can buy a TITO module that simulates the ticket in and ticket out system.
@@GambleSmart nice. I would like to see a video of how it works if you don’t have one already.
How much did it run you to get a huff n more puff machine/board?
They aren't cheap, around 8k
what about skill games like PA skills
Do Indian casino machines have CPU doors? I’ve always wondered when they have a group of machines closed off.
I sure hope they can set the hand pay threshold to a different amount than $1200. That's going to be a big headache when it finally goes up.
It's actually jurisdiction locked - so they will need new juri chips. I suspect they will get the hand pay threshold at $1200, but won't require tax forms unless it's over whatever amount they agree to (if it ever happens)
So it looks like a computer, right? Computers can be accessed remotely. These slots are on servers. The technology changes a lot. Still don't trust that carnival games are not being played.
😮
I guess it's just me Mark but when I set at a slot and put my money in the first thing I do is turn the sound all the way off and just watch the machine do it's thing.
I've heard of others doing this. I personally like sound but I don't want the machine to be too loud either. No sound won't keep me from playing either unless it's a game where the sounds are part of the main appeal.
In pay table setup 0.10 750 vA4, 0.20 450 vA4, 0.50 250 vA4, 1.00 250 vA4. What does that mean?
Lock it Link games usually have this. You basically set it up with 4 denominations. In this case, it's
$0.10, max credits 750
$0.20, max credits 450
$0.50, max credits 250
$1.00, max credits 250
The vA4 is the paytable ID that is linked to the payback %
Thanks much
Same payback % for all demons. Is that common?
So how can ever spin be random if the machine can reach its pay back %
There is a random aspect (RNG) and control aspect (Paytable). The random aspect is you don't know what will come next, the control is that the RNG has to pick from a certain set of items. Much like you picking from a deck of cards. We did a video on this that might help: th-cam.com/video/bjXhjbf1M4o/w-d-xo.html
Random does not mean equal....very big difference. Each result is chosen at random equally but the options the RNG has to choose from is not created equally. The RNG is still choosing from the same exact pool of options each and every spin. So it's choosing randomly from an unequal pool of option. The rest is just the math of probabilities.
Indian casinos do not have gaming commissions
Yes they do
@@GambleSmart they are not an actual gaming commission like Vegas with complete regulatory power. Winstar can change the payout percentages at anytime without any permission from any other tribe or agency. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL
You can believe whatever you want, but Winstar has a gaming commission just like any other licensed property. If you feel they can monkey with payouts anytime they want, then I suggest you stop going.
107.52% with only 3k games played. New machines on the floor pay more confirmed! Lol jk
I understand it's just a joke but when a machine is new with few spins made the actual payback can swing up and down in a wide range. But as more spins are made the wins/losses are averaged in with the many other spins so the actual payback doesn't move as much with each winning/losing session and only gets closer & closer to the configured payback. By the time you get to the point where the machine has many 1000's of spins and has taken in/paid out millions of dollars, even something like a 10K payout will barely budge the actual payback. I only comment this because it's a big piece of the math people misunderstand. 10K to any one player seems like a lot of money. To the machine and the casino it's pocket change.
just say please , dont point at the screen,,,mid screen ,left right etc
The machines are networked and casinos can control the amount of money they release. This is done by an algorithm.
False, that’s not how it works. Not possible.
Thank you Marc for this very informative & interesting video. Keep up the great work. Also, Best of Luck to you and the 'gang' in Las Vegas! 😘🍀🍀🍀🌹
Thanks for the info, as always starts my morning offf right. Have seen insides of machines before for various reasons. Money not counted, jammed bills etc. Always interesting. I always wanted a "classic" machine, for home. Do have a 2' high "toy" bank slot machine, thats fun to play. Put in coins and play, just like a casino one. Coins drop on line hits and jackpot symbols, just like at the casino. Good thing, when done open back and still have your money. Silly, and childish, sure, but fun when bored and a casino trip is not in the near future!!!! Thanks for all your info. Appreciate up to date info, especially the newer machines. Hope to make it to Winstar one day. Used to live in Texas and went to Oklahoma often.
I had a machine spit out the 100 bill and the machine credited the slot. I played for a few hundred then i told the attendant
