This confirms exactly how the slots behave when you play. I find the constant "near misses" very annoying. Too many will send me packing in a big hurry. I don't play slots to be constantly frustrated. So, when this nonsense starts, I will cash out on the next screen that has a massive near miss, i.e., all of the bonus symbols show up, but nothing in the first column to go with it. That's when I cash out, and I leave that ridiculous screen up for all to see. To the slot manufacturers: Either hit or don't hit, but tone down all the near misses. Many of us just go to enjoy the games & have some reasonable play time, we don't appreciate this type of BS. I have no problem paying (losing $) for this form of entertainment as long as it is fun. Gambling is a luxury, it's not a necessity, & if I'm not having fun, I have no problem taking my $ right back out the door.
Dont gamble if you gonna get mad kiddo. I lose thousands and just laugh it off. Once you enter the casino, your mindset should be "Im gonna lose buts lets hope for a win". If you get up and I get the jackpot right after I bet you are the kind of person to be like "omg! I was still playing. Thats my machine!" Like come on, you got your voucher and left kiddo. I can tell you are a horrid person just by you getting so mad at a screen. I hope your kids are better.
I couldn't disagree with you more.
Casinos no matter what they say,do everything to get you addicted.
And fully if they can.
It used to be to win.
Now with that illusion destroyed,it's so you can play longer and have more fun.
But before,at least you could win big once in a while and play for hrs and hrs if smart now good luck money winning anything big and you can lose hundreds and hundreds even playing small bets in just a few hrs at most.
It's not this gentleman that is supposedly a bad person, when you don't even know him,but the industry as a whole.
The regulations of gambling and how casinos operate their games are a joke.
If alcohol and drugs were governed the same way 70 percent of the population would be alcoholics or drug addicts.
Gambling has payed off almost everyone that matters to do almost anything they want.
Stay away from them if you can and if you can't,learn how to keep your losses low, take whatever you can from them and always watch your back from the moment you enter their doors.

I used to roam the casino looking for the fattest pig or brightest firecracker ring, thinking it was ready to bonus. I guess I saved money, though, since I spent so much time walking instead of playing!
I was the dumb ass that took that seat and have lost thousands chasing it
A LOT of people just need to hear this info! so they can play smarter, thank you 👍🏽
This guy is awesome, showing the true manipulation tactics that go into it. Hopefully he helps someone out there struggling with gambling addiction
the best way to play slots is to move around a lot, don't put more than 20 into a slot, i can't tell you how many times i have had a jackpot after only 4 or 5 spins
SO SO THANKFUL I found your channel - changed my entire view on how I wager on slots from here on out. SOUND advice mixed with TONS of common sense. Absolute GEM of a channel!!
I hate those illusions because it tricks you and manipulates you into thinking that it’s going to burst or you made it full so it’s hard to leave. It really takes a lot of will power to walk away and not chase cause I’ve fallen for it countless times 😢
Don’t think that near miss should be programmed like that to keep you playing. My opinion its called entrapment. slot builders should be sued over this. But thanks Mark for telling everyone.
They are definitely screwing with people with this because they show you these things growing as you add coins into them and it makes you believe that at some point you're going to get that feature. I seen videos of people. Throwing chairs and machines and smashing machines. I would have to believe that it's because of stuff like this
U r 100% right. N I’m one of them that flips when they screw with ya.

Before I learned bout this...was playing at Westward Ho...got 2 Marilyn Monroe symbols n the 3rd was just off the line...had a 900k progressive!! I was sick that I was that close. Now I kno I [probably] wasn't close at all...🤬 good luk out ther!👍
It’s just lies
Definitely should not be allowed to program a machine to change the symbols after the RNG found there was no win and neither should clustering. Just show whatever symbols were pulled by the RNG and leave it at that and any off-screen symbols should be randomly selected the same as the on screen symbols. Very manipulative practice and shame on all involved who thought this was acceptable.
Marc great video so many of us needed to hear that message including myself. So great job! Love your channel, love what you guys do! Keep up the great work. Jay from Tennessee 😎
The other part about the Pigs, firecrackers, money pots etc is that they want you to have a "vested" feeling. You played the machine and build everything up so much that your reluctant to let someone else enjoy your expensive hard work so you keep playing hoping to pop a feature. They suck you right in.
Yeah, you feel like you might as well keep going, because if you get off that machine, then you'll just be doing it to a different machine. It's almost criminal if they don't give you a bonus within X number of spins or X amount of money put in. Should never take several hundred spins or dollars to have a chance at a bonus.
Appreciate all of your videos. Thanks for posting them.
Marc, another great video. I love your passion on this subject!
The last time I played slot machines was about 40 years ago when I took my mother to the casino/racetrack on her request. I lost my $20 limit in about 10 minutes and she played for a couple of hours staying pretty much even. I found them boring before that experience and even a bit repulsive after that.
I've learned a lot from your channel. I feel more informed when I go to the casino and play the slot machines. I set a limit on how much I play and if I don't get any good hits, then I cash out and try a different game. I'm not fooled by the "near misses" and see them as "planned misses". Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
One thing that drives me crazy is getting 2 buzzsaws on the first 2 reels playing huff n more puff. Then of course… nothing. Or 5 hard hats… But instead of keeping me playing, it makes me mad. I get annoyed and want to cash out my money. I don’t know if they thought that through…
That’s why the casinos pay one way or another to have these slot channels play and win on Huff n puff
You are the exception to the rule. Most people think it means that the bonus is coming.
I’ve never heard this subject explained before but I picked up on it a long time ago. It doesn’t bother though because I tend to roam the casino looking for a slot that’s doing what I came for. Still it’s good to hear it from someone that’s worked the business.
I previously wondered about the "near hits". Your previous video(s) mentioned that when the RNG has already chosen a BLANK, the software/firmware can place the reels to show a blank near a multiplier or other HIT symbol. I need to show this video to my wife!
It is an RNG; therefore anything can happen; however I'm the opposite when it comes to the firecrackers, bloated pigs and full pots. If I got a choice of 4 machines of the same game I look for the machine with the thinist pig and emptiest pot because that's potentially telling me the game could be hitting whereas the others are possibly not. The fire crackers couldn't have been that lit without quite a few losing spins is where my mind first goes based on instinct.
Great and informative video, Marc!
Thanks, Marc for keeping it real!...
Well stated and well needed information for us slot players. You guys are doing a tremendous service to your viewers. 🤛
Love how you reminded us that it’s up to us to put safety measures in place.
Awesome video as always!
Thank you for putting this informative video out there Marc. I played Top Dollar Grand at Foxwoods this past week. It was the same one you won a JP on at Foxwoods. First time I played it, had a lot of fun & great line hits & bonuses. After playing for a few hours went to hotel losing only about $70.00. Next day, my session of about 2 1/2, I must've had about a dozen Top Dollars including the Grand about 4x. Played quarters and dollars. Unfortunately, I didn't win the JP, but, I had fun with TDG. Thank you for the 'hello' you sent me through Stephan. That was very sweet of you. Keep up the great work & say 'hi' to Dave & Jodes. Will be catching up watching YT this week. Love GSGS 😘🍀🍀🍀🌹
Any machine that shows you repeating near misses, get off it immediately, it is in collection mode.
There is no such thing as "collection mode" on slot machines. Each spin is completely separate and independent of previous spins. It doesn't actively balance. :)
A slot machine is like looking at your stock porfolio downward spiral.
Just got back from a 5 day trip to Vegas out of 3 trips in the past 6 months. Hit 3 jackpot hand pays but I was still down after each jackpot. Even hit a $5.3K jackpot on day 3 but was stilll down. After that jackpot everything went downhill.
I lost on all 3 trips and will quit playing slots as we all know that it’s a losing proposition. Just thought that I may have luck but the math programmed into the slots seems impossible to win unless you win early and quit.
Seems like the steamers always lose a little than win it all back plus more! I know Vegas matt is a millionaire I mostly speaking of the three lady streamer’s I watch. What are your thoughts 💭 on how that?
@@barbaratyler5422 I believe that most streamers have multiple sessions during the day and release the more interesting (winning) videos as no one wants to see losing sessions and winning sessions get more views/likes. It’s a business for them to get subscriptions/views/likes.
I’ve lost $13K+ in my 3 trips to Vegas with $10k+ bankroll on each trip, which is okay with me but still don’t like losing all the time. However, the free rooms & some dining comps make up for my losses. I gamble responsibly, and take small wins on each machine that I play. Sometimes I do get into a chase on a machine but have a stop loss of $3K which luckily hasn’t happened. My $5.3K jackpot win was at $2.5k in but was still losing at that time so continued to play other machines.
Hv a safe trip. Looking forward to yr live play this week. Good luck!
Really love your videos because they make me think a little. I'm trying to learn from you guys, because
up until now, I just popped more money in the machine every time the firecrackers were burning or
the buckets were filled up. I will just walk away if nothing doing at all after a couple hundred $$$.
You'll get there - glad you found us and hope it makes a difference.
Great tip!
Great Video as usual!
Thanks for these insights. Very nice to see this confirmed. When I do my annual Vegas trip I always tell my wife Im going to go to Vegas to generate some random numbers for a week and then come back. I guess that’s the essence of it all and something to keep in mind. its either a win or a loss, all depending on the RNG.
Bro said "I think (slot machine manufacturers) have their heart in the right place" 💀
Good Tuesday Morning Marc thanks for this video and enjoy y'all's Vegas stay.
Thanks so much
They NEVER work on me, I'm one of those people who just gets frustrated when it keeps giving me 2, so I just stop playing the machine.
I've been playing 1 credit on a 10 credit Top Dollar and I can't tell you how many times I'll get blank, blank and blank but the unplayed line 2 and 3 will be double diamond x3 and then triple bar x3. That'd be a huge win but of course it wouldn't come out that way if more credits were played.
Yup, that's definitely one of the new things they are doing these days.
The amount of credit played doesn’t affect what the machine hits in any way . But it does affect the bonus payout . Thats why It’s not a good idea to play 1 credit on a 10 credit machine. You aren’t getting the max bonus benefit which is usually the difference between a winning and losing session.
Spicy title had me 😂
The best way to play any slot machine is my number of spins. You may not make a profit, but you will never lose your bankroll.
Interesting....explain. Thanks for sharing!
Good information on the "near misses."
Thanks Marc.
Thank you for that information, I've been chasing that darn firecracker game, when each one had one to go and ended up playing over $500 until I left it for someone else to play with it.
The firecrackers and ones like that have to be notated like that on the screen or near the jackpots here in Australia.
I thought these near misses or teasers as I call them were illegal in Australia and elsewhere.
I'm learning so much from you guys ❤❤thanks 😊 now I can prepare myself for the next battle 💪 😉
You got this!
My biggest complaint with slot design is how the denomination buttons are set so that if you are paying attention you accidentally hit the higher domination button
Who gets to determine whether a slot machine is "too addicting", and how would one even determine that??!?
I'm glad you made that video I caught on the Red 7 bar deal and that firecracker 🧨 burned me twice lol I keep far away from it lol I must have put 75 of those Red firecracker s up there before the last one lit it started sparking a little about 50 times and I don't want to say what that bonus ended up like I left like a Dog with my tail between my legs LOL thanks for the video.
I near missed the top jackpot a few times with the double diamond deluxe slot machines in Las Vegas. I chased a $12,500 win but instead I lost $1,000. Ouch! I’ll learn to quit ahead next time. I was up $140 profit on $5 denominations and $10 spins.
I'm Australia it's written on the pokie in small print underneath the flashing bonuses. Fire facker bonus is not subject to the images displayed and will not determine a jackpot. ( or something along the lines of that )
Good points
👍👍 Good Job
I seldom read the rules, I’ve played enough that I can figure out most games. The rules will tell you that pots filling up, pigs getting fat etc means nothing. It’s not an indication that a bonus is coming. It’s just for looks. People often fall for it though.
1% may read the rules....totally agree put the notice on the front screen, unfortunately many won't read or believe it. I keep telling my friend it's a big bait & switch machine. I can walk away easily, sadly most can't
yeah, it's not a fair play at all... just a bunch of carrots and sticks
I saw you guys at M Resort high limits.🎉🎉 From Mississippi
Love it😂
It is absolutely misuse to the highest degree.
If a slot can manipulate the display after the RNG has chosen a no win then why should we believe that the game doesn’t change to display when the RNG choses a winning spin so you don’t get the win?
Does u stopping the wheel change the outcome of the spin? Or is the results the same whether u stop the wheel or not?
Marc your the best 🤠

I do not play the reissued games of the "Classic" machines. Took me 1 time of playing these machines for quite a few hours to figure out, that they were very different from the "Classic" machines. Symbols that rarely come up ie: double double symbols were coming up frequently with no 3rd matching symbol. On "Classic" double double diamonds the 2 multiplier symbols rarely come up together.
The probability of a double diamond symbol is like 1/32, so the chance of landing two of them is 1/32 * 1/32 * 31/32 * 3 (because there are three ways to get it: 22A, 2A2, A22). That is 1/352.
Thank you 💕 sir as I was gambling on my phone in one of the online app😂,I remembered your words on "How it's gonna tease you" then I stope😅😅
Great words TY- I need to play this video every time I head out-many many games anymore show a full pot of coins , a fully lit firecracker, fat little piggies, fat chickens, fat fish & now I’d seen fat dragons & fat cows that look like they’ll burst at any minute .
RNG for Random Number Generator is wrongly phrased.
It's actually, a Rigged Number Generator!!! 😂
EXACTLY 👍
yep, a Random Number Generator is the biggest scam.
Manufacturers say that it randomly creates combinations, but that is not true at all.
I hit 7 jackpots 2 weeks ago, then 8 jackpots last friday. Total was 30k. I dont think ima go back for awhile.
In Australia the machines that have the growing pots etc are required to have a disclaimer about the size of the pot not directly related to chance of bonus or something along those lines.
In the rules it says that in all markets... And in Australia persistence and perceived persistence are not allowed
What slot manufacturers don't understand is that the new games would be sooo much more fun if the size of the pig or firecracker actually did reflect the odds of hitting them!
Lol that’s about the time I’m down to my last dollar & just realized I’d been feeding that pig for someone else to come along & break open
Every spin is completely random. Just like a roulette. They cannot reflect anything because they have no idea what the next outcome is gonna be. Just because you spent $1000 and got $0 back, doesn't mean the big prize is closer. The odds on every spin are always the same. The outcome of the previous 100 spins has 0 influence on the current one.
@@enriquebonis6041but there are ‘must win by’ kind of features? Like the buffalo count that must go off by 1800 kind of thing. 🤷
Hey man great video!
I have a different question i don’t know if it‘s been asked yet but when you trigger a bonus or freespin round, is the result e.g the exact winning amount already predetermined as soon as the bonus is being triggered or are the events still random until the bonus is finished?
On a casino app i play. They show the amount of what i win even before the bonus is finished. Sow i think the amount is already determined when the bonus start.
The events are still random in most cases, every spin will be a call to the rng. Online slots and apps are different because there are talking to a server, and if the Comms go down, the server still needs to know your win, but even then, a lot of manufacturers don't predetermine the outcome
I barely play them... But it shows CORRUPTION in the regulators. As I was saying in Queensland Australia they have the machines programmed to give back 80% to the gambler. But how do they manipulate this. That's why I'm wondering how Australian machines are programmed vs Vegas
very good explanation, does this apply to video poker?
Video is a deck that is continuously shuffled. The near hands are due to math. There are many more ways to get a hand that is one off of a royal flush than getting that royal flush.
I like your pocket safe don't have any in Australia..
Can you explain luck has arrived? For example on the game mo Mummy, it seems that the only time it pays is during a luck has arrived feature, does the special animations play when you actually hit the correct rng for a big pay?
The slot knows exactly what the result of the spin is going to be the moment you press the spin button or pull the handle. Since it knows this, it can do the "luck has arrived" or the "shaky shaky" since it already knows the result.
It's hard to hear that the casinos "hearts" are in the right place when they practice all the shady stuff that they do.
Now, I cannot speak for ALL casinos, and I'm sure some aren't as scummy...but let's face facts. They are in the business of making the most profits they can in the shortest amount of time possible. That's why machines are rigged for near misses. That's why there are no clocks in the casino. That's why the carpet is so god awful ugly. So many things go into the tricking of the mind that you could actually call it manipulating the mind.
Never play with anything that you aren’t willing to lose. I generally toss a few hundred in, max bet it, if it hits, great for me, if it doesn’t, walk away and try again another day. I lost count how many “ close calls” I had. As a matter of fact, it happened just last night playing Dragon Mistress. Get the entire picture, dragon shakes its head and doesn’t blow fire. Get 2 eggs, blank, 2 more eggs. That’s why they call it gambling.
The near misses don’t keep me playing. It makes me so angry that I just cash out and go to a different machine. It is fairly easy to determine when they are trying to manipulate you. I don’t play that game. (After repeated near misses on multiple machines I just leave the casino. It isn’t fun to be teased.)
But the casinos make humongous amounts of money during that final teaser phase because how many people will sit and feed it just like you did?
I’m guilty of that, too. And I will see others sit down hoping to pop it and then move on too.
I agree....Don't play games with pots/drums/pigs......Those games force you to keep playing
Thanks for the great info
Marc. great video love your channel. I am curious how manufactures determine the value of a slot machine spin or how much is paid back on a certain winning spin or bonus spin. How do they determine that pay back value and is the gaming commission involved to make sure it is not paying much pay back on any given winning spin or bonus when the machine is new and ready for use.
All games have to be tested by an approved test house such as GLI, and in many markets require secondary approval from the regulator (gaming board).
I'm relation to your first question, it's actually not that complicated, at least in the most basic sense....
Slot machine maths is pretty much based on statistics. Assuming the stake is 50c, to make the game achieve 90% you simply need to know that the average pay per spin is 45c. This is done via a combination of odds for every pay, the paytable (or awards), odds for features, and the averages for those features.
@@SlottyMcSlotface Thanks! You answered a question that has been haunting me for some time, it all makes sense now
Wow, interesting
You said that you were going to mention some games that display some rules or are better, what are those games and how do you know if a slot machine is pre-2015?
I only play poker at Casinos and a bit online . I don’t trust online . Then i played slots online for first time with a free coupon code for $100 . This cash bandits bonus game was ridiculous. I only opened 2 of the small safes in 4 bonuses . The odds of me only guessing a few numbers on the final vault made 0 sense . Never playing slots again
Absolutely true, how many times have you got 14 balls on Dragon Link? The last ball NEVER falls for the Grand. But it gives you false hope to keep you playing( almost hit the Grand🤣🤣) More and more confirmation the RNG is not exactly random, but random with many caveats.
So true , for even further scrutiny the structure of the random number generator circuit or algorithm. Hypnotised by the sounds and stupid noises made when it pays always waiting for the anticipation of the incoming free spins . What a racket no wonder every club , pub or venue want them . Federally protected scam with scant details as to how the racket works . Just keep feeding the cash I guess until your eyeballs drop out of their sockets
If you find yourself in places like Eastern Ky where I live, stay away from all these gas station games. They are illegal and nobody regulates them. They pay a fraction of what is put into them.
See, this is why (I think) it's a smart ide to play these games on an app. It's supposed to be the very sane game in the casino, you're playing for free and you get a feel for the play, payouts, et al.
I understand that graphics are not an indicator that a progressive/bonus is going to hit soon, but do you think the size of the graphics compared to a similar machine is an indicator of one machine paying the progressive/bonus sooner than the others? Ex: Three of the exact same firecracker game side by side and one machine has more firecrackers lit up.)
I totally agree about the bowls/coins/firecrackers/pigs etc. Making it seem like a hit is just around the corner when in truth the odds never change and its just a big mindf#ck. The machine should have messaging to be clear about the odds never narrowing as the graphics expand.
Hi Can you make a video about U1 machines from Dottys if you know about them id like to know more about them why they own them and velocities etc
Mark and Cowboy won't do them for some reason, I've s asked before but never a response.
@GambleSmart - Have you ever done a video of the dud bonus rounds, particularly when you've chased a feature relentlessly? In other words, you chase a feature, typically at a decent-sized spin bet, you finally hit the feature, and your payout is some pathetic multiple of your original bet (like 1x-2x, or less!)
Thanks!
Yeah that should be illegal. If you've put hundreds in at a high bet hoping to get a bonus, then finally do, it should at least give you back a certain percentage of what you invested, not totally rip you off.
best way to play slots is the 5 spin hit a run play more slots in shorter time ......... try it never set down keep moving cover more slots...........
In my experience I call them teasers which means they want you to chase while in reality a good hit is far away.
Ask any player if they lined up two wild, double., triple, etc. symbols only to see a blank show up on the third reel. 😯☹
Truth
The constant fake outs make people doubt the veracity of randomness. The fake progression indicators should be illegal. Gaming commissions have no teeth and no balls.
This is why I never read the instructions or rules on the games. I never know what the highest paying symbols are or the bonus symbols are, and I never pay attention to the fluff like the firecrackers growing or pig growing in size. I just pay attention to my time and money, and I give myself a time limit or spending limit. That way, if I do hit something big, I'm presently surprised. If I dont within my limit, I walk away. It's my way to not let the slot machine mess with me if I don't know what's near missing.
They have warning in Australia
The commission who determines if a game is addictive is a subjective decision. "Nope, it's fine. Put it out on the floor." But you didn't play it...
My local casino in UK has the branch manager and under managers constantly on laptops?
This just a small local casino they have 18 slot machines, what the hell are they doing, all day every day?
I wish you might have given us ideas on how to combat this. Thank you!
I tried - the first is to know it exists and ignore it. The second, you need to focus on when to start and stop. Don't let the machine consume you.
The near misses are just part of the cycles. Catch a machine in a payout cycle and the near misses are an omen. Catch a pay in cycle and the near miss will never pay. Always track your slot’s cycle. Correlates with the moon
I think I really need to learn the hard way
They know we are not wise in those casinos lol
