I have had a Mid 70s Bottecchia for almost 50 years and just looking at it makes me want to go riding so I do and I'm in my 60s .. every time I do I'm a young man conquering the slopes of the Pacific Coastal Range of Eugene Oregon again

Hanging on my garage! My old Cat III road racing frame with a Dura Ace gruppo and double bent racing bars. Put 8-10,000 miles a season on it for over 15 years. Mean to have it restored and give it one more ride before I join the choir eternal. Once a breath-takjnf3 beauty, now a radiantly glorious grand dame!

I have this different color red assembled Shimano DURA-ACE set. I bougt it in the early 1990's.On the down tube, sticker of 80th anniversary (1909-1989) is sticked.I also have Bianchi EL assembled Campagnole C-Record and current carbon made Bianchi Semple assembled Campagnole Chorus. In these bikes, Bottecchia SLX is the most beautiful and has very good running feeling.I think Bottecchia SLX is one of the most beatiful bike. From Japan

Theo. Carnielli (VV) designed a truly perfect bike that no one remotely cared to vaguely know about. Or buy. Talk to ANYONE who is supposedly "in the know" and they NEVER EVER mention Bottecchia. Yes, the eternal "experts". I know you, I see and hear you all the time. I can personally attest that the Bottecchia is, without question, one of THE most perfect handling, performing frames ever, period. Enjoy your plastic (carbon) "bike" Made in China with Shimano. Oh, and your black socks and orange shoes.

I used to think Italian vintage race bikes were some kind of bad joke will all the chrome, red green and white etc. One day I bought (for 10 dollars) an Columbus SL Galli sponsored bike that was about to be thrown in a skipbin and sent to scrap metal. It was rusted so bad on the rear triangle chrome.. which made me dislike Italian chromed bikes even more. Still it was salvageable so I fixed it and painted it white (whole bike), it's now my favourite bike and I ride it everywhere. I still think they are over the top but I can't deny they make good bikes :).

The Bottecchia SLX is one of the most aesthetic piece in the bicycle history. I also have a red and white one. Are you sure yours is a real Bottecchia? . Is the fork a replacement piece? The original fork crown is engraved with B. The late SLX (hide brake cable routing) has Cinelli Spoiler BB shell, I see so it has a normal. The SLX has Columbus dropouts, yours has Campagnolo. The seatstay' ends on the seat lug, similar to a Bottecchia, but not so narrow and pointed tip and pulled high.
I would say it, the professional teams used not the hidden brake cable routing, only on commercial items but she has race number eye on the top tube.
