Fun fact, wind chill does not affect inanimate objects such as engines !

Hey man! Thanks for the video! One small tip is to just press the button without pressing the brake pedal (for automatic) (and clutch for manual) so the car has the proper time to preheat the coils (You will see the glow plug icon appearing and disappearing). You can do that around 2-3 times before starting the car up so it starts with no effort. Less effort = longer living engine. All modern diesel engines has this feature (glow plugs) to prevent the car from just cranking and starting up immediately. Diesel burns in higher temperature so these glow plugs preheat the chamber to prepare it for the combustion. Just a heads up for everyone watching keep in mind to change oil regularly and to use the proper viscosity for each climate. Thanks again for your video! Looking forward to see more from that 535D! Its one of the best diesel engines :) Greetings from Sweden

Every newer diesel car i’ve had/driven automatically heats the glow plugs before starting up and starts first crank every time as you said. But i’ve never had to cycle the plugs on my cars?
However I don’t get how every diesel you see online takes 3-5 business days to start whereas i can go outside and crank my E420 CDI after it’s been sitting for a week and it’ll turn over as if it was already up to operating temperature..

I think on modern diesels, the glow plugs start heating as soon as you unlock the door. I have BMW diesel with keyless entry, and sometimes I get a notification to wait before starting the engine.

@@MrToastyman900 Yeah i totally agree with you about the glow plugs preheating but cycling it helps the engine to start easier (in cold climates) than showed in the video. It would be interesting to see the difference at my opinion :)

@@Oockeshoek I have no idea about the new diesel engines honestly. Its too hard to keep up with the technology each year. My car comes with a preheater which also helps during cold winter but drinks a lot of diesel.

Thank you for watching ! You seem to know your way around these cars 😉 Maintenance is the key to great longevity and performance !
