Totally agree with this video. SS is one of the best superhero cartoons ever made, but BOY is the romance in this show convoluted and completely unnatural.
It’s not like we got the full show thanks to legal nonsense, right…? I mean, not sure what you’re expecting from the most faithful adaptation of Stan Lee’s 60s creations.
Peter had the most baddies I've ever seen in this show and his dumbass fumbled every one of them and no matter how smart you are you will always fail due to your teenage hormones
Liz was Petey's biggest fumble of all fr Like she was the perfect one for Peter cos even though she was the 'popular cheerleader' and he was the 'nerd', she was really into him and didn't care what people thought. Imo one of the key reasons Peter liked her was that she didn't hesitate to make the first move or to show affection, unlike Gwen who for the most part would just sulk or get annoyed when Peter didn't give her the attention she wanted. Plus, she was actually super chill because even when Peter would no-show, she didn't hold it against him. His problem was, like MJ said, he would get distracted too easily and couldn't focus on 1 girl. He kept going back and forth between wanting to be with Gwen and wanting to be with Liz because he liked the attention from both, but that meant he was just leading them both on. Okay he realised he still liked Gwen, but seeing Peter basically just ignore Liz and then not be honest with her was brutal, especially after all the second chances she gave him. Then Peter's double breakup idea was super disrespectful because he not once acknowledged Liz's nor even Harry's feelings, he just gave her the old "it's not you, it's me" spiel and expected her to be fine with it. Seeing how distraught she was afterwards showed how much she truly did care and really put into perspective just how bad a boyfriend he was to her In the end the plan failed cos Gwen stayed with Harry, which just proves how rash and careless Pete is as he thought he could just play with people's emotions to get what he wanted but instead ended up with nothing
You should make a video about how 1992 Spider-Man was lowkey a player. In that series, Peter flip flops between Mary Jane and Felicia for the first two seasons. There were a few points in season 3 where Peter contemplates loving Mary Jane as Peter Parker and loving Felcia Hardy as Spider-Man after Felicia was already engaged. And of course, he falls for Felcia when she becomes Black Cat when Mary Jane is gone. Yeah, 1992 Spider-Man was moving differently because that man was a player.
Great video man and I agree with everything you said Peter had insane rizz in this show but he just messed up big time especially with Gwen and Liz. Peter didn't catch any of the signs early on it took MJ to give Gwen a glow up for him to finally get attracted to Gwen. By the time he made up his mind about who he wanted to be with it was far too late and just hurt everyone Liz, Gwen and himself. Greg Weisman the writer of this show went on to create Young Justice in which you have another character with insane rizz Nightwing or Dick Grayson and he unlike Peter didn't mess up any of his relationships, he was still friends with all his exes. You should definitely make a video on Nightwing.
In the Black Cat scenario, it would've been an L either way. Peter is 16 in this series and Felecia has to be at least in her early 20's. So as soon as Felcia would've found out that Peter is a minor, she'd never speak to him again just like in the original Ultimate universe.
I dunno why people assume felicia is an adult in her 20s here, I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned in interviews she's around 18/19. Still awkward considering Peter is only 16 himself but not as big of an age gap as people assume.
The Spectacular Spider-Man series is proof that you can have a great Spider-Man series without Mary Jane Watson being the primary love interest. I really wish Disney would've just left that show alone or just bring it back as a Disney+ original series because there are just so many unanswered questions about the characters going forward. Like, I would want to know if Gwen would just get sick of Harry and just leave him for Peter and if Harry would take Liz and find love there.

The kid grew up without rizz before the Spider bite, unfortunately he didn’t know how to use it and it ended up hurting him in the long run

He did, but in Spider-Verse 2 he joins in wanting Miles dad to die. So he deserved to fumble.
