This video totally doesn't exist just because I Didn't had a good Father Figure Growing Up.
If Doc was in any other show, he would be the villain with that design. 1 blind eye, face scar, shaved head, broad shoulders, scientist...
There literally was at least 1 Comment human who said they though Doc is a Villain from the thumbnail image or something like that.
Or Nick Fury.
Basically, he's more than meets the eye
@@1world1heartjake the actual villain in the show looks more villainous
Well both Doc and Drew are voiced by villians from other shows.
It's basically what happens when Shego and Vandal Savage procreate
I love Doc's design. He looks so menacing and angry, but he's so calm and chill
He's a good guy who's been through some stuff
Kinda makes me think of Auron from Final Fantasy X
I still absolutely love this show
I sure hope it ends up on Max.

Holy fuck a actually good father in a cartoon, you only get those like once a decade
Raymundo Rocket from Rocket Power is a great father too he's very laid-back but strict even his kids called him by his first name at times
Not only that, but a good, calm, respectable black father who has a good wholesome marriage with a beautiful white woman (all in the 2000s on a kids network/channel).
Who isn’t dead
@@PsychoChuckGreeneYeah, I never got that calling him by his first name.
@@alanwalkman29 I'm only guessing is that maybe it makes Raymundo feel like he isn't on "Dad Mode" but it's not like his kids disrespect him like how Bart Simpson does with Homer at times

Anyone else find it pretty funny that the most scientific member of the family uses a punching glove as a weapon. Not like a ray or a series of gadgets, but a fist he punches monsters in the face with. He bested the greatest hunter in the world with that thing and he's supposed to be the scientist of the trio.
Boxing is called the "Sweet Science."
Not certain he uses boxing in his fighting style, but he'll certainly have his foes singing tunes in Candyland when he knocks the sweet tooth/teeth out their mouths.

One of the few interracial couple on TV during that time, especially in a cartoon. And their marriage was so wholesome and Doc was an amazing dad to Zak and the other cryptics in his family.

Yeah, they didn't do her justice there.
both of them only speak like 6 times in that Entire Omniverse episode...
None of them got Justice.
I hate that episode so much. From the bad character design to them just wussing out and gave Zak his powers back. I could go on a whole tangent about that episode, but it's midnight where I'm at.

You even cared to highlight ''know'' word.
When my parents got their divorce and my Dad got custody, Doc ended up being my role model for father figures and both parents showed me what a healthy happy reasonable family looks like.
I find it so intresting that this is around 4 time somebody said: Doc was thier Father Figure and Saturdays as a Whole thier look at a Healthy Family.
So joyful to know Saturdays did this for A LOT of people.
And thanks for sharing your story!
They gave your Dad custody and he was so bad that you had to find a better father figure on TV? Christ dude, what was your mom like???
I like contrastingly edgy his facial design is. Don't expect someone with Doc's looks to sound and act the way he does.
Terry Mcginnis (Doyle), Shego (Drew), and Vandal Savage (Doc) are all part of one big family
Power voice acting
DOC'S VOICE ACTOR ALSO VOICES SAVAGE IN DCAU???
How the hell i only learn that now.
@@pdokik9340 I haven't watched the series since I was a kid, but I can hear the voice similarities between the two. I've never noticed til now either
Now that I see it, I can't unhear it for everyone. But especially Doc being Vandal Savage still baffles me. Honestly, it feels like Doc and Vandal are fundamentally the same, but several big choices completely set them on different paths.
Doc and Drew LOOOVE each other and thats so refreshing to see.
Gotta love how he and Drew have a contrasting way of raising Zak. Like Doc is more lenient and laid back with Zak compared to Drew being strict and protective but it still doesn’t take away his authority as a parent. So much so that Zak was even respective when Doc does raise his voice
The voice actor for Mrs. Saturday being the same one as Sheigo while playing characters that are both 100% childhood crushes everyone had can't be a coincidence.

The better version of Jack from Danny Phantom. The writers did poor Jack so dirty.
Comical reasons is the only answer
I never really liked that show. It was mostly too comedic for a superhero show in my opinion.
@@matthewescudero4287 It has great potential for fan-fiction though. Because there is so much trauma played so lightly when writing fanfics you can either go light and fluffy or you can go dark and tragic.
@@freshoffthehook904 Yeah, I get your point, but even in fanfiction, Danny Phantom doesn't exactly scream "dark and edgy" like the DCAU, or Young Justice, or even Teen Titans. Plus, there are other reasons I didn't like the show: overly simple character designs for MOST characters, terrible fight scenes that look too much like comic book panels sometimes, bad writing like whenever the writers made Danny out to be in the wrong even though most of the time, he was very clearly in the right when you didn't take it at face value, and most of all, Sam Manson's entire character, especially the hypocrisy, self-righteousness, overly smug attitude, refusal to take responsibility for her actions, and the fact that she was almost always in the wrong, contrary to the show's "writing," if you could even call it that.
@@matthewescudero4287 Fair enough about the writing… but have you seen some of the vivisection Danny Phantom? Have you seen any of Goth moth’s stuff? Danny Phantom can do Dark and edgy with the best of them.
This had some of the best damn VAs in the business, the writing was peak, it was about myth science but still taught real science its such a bleeding tragedy this didnt get as big as it should have.
I had a huge crush on Doc growing up 😂❤ A masculine man that treats his family right, sing me up!
Doc & Drew should be the standard with marriage and relationships
@@that1nerdyblackgirl736 they are the definition of relationship goals
I had forgotten how good the show was, regarding the Saturday Family: The dad is a brilliant scientist that is also supportive and understanding; the mom is a bad-ass fighter that still manages to be a loving mother to their son, as well as a loving wife to the dad - and she's clearly not a Mary Sue, as far as I know / remember.
And the son isn't too annoying - he's a good representation of a kid his age.
In the full show Fiskerton & Doyle kinda being Big Brothers & Uncle to Zak also very plays into the Great Family dynamic.
(pro - MEME person have 2 different Doyle compilations Videos, by the way)

Edited for Grammar
Huh. Feels like "What if Doc Savage got married, had a kid and didn't let that slow down his adventuring lifestyle in the slightest?"
Is Doc Savage like a popular think somehow???
I never heard about it before in my life, but this is like 3 time somebody mentioned it here.
@@pdokik9340 "Popular" is difficult to quantify here, because Doc Savage has some popularity, but he isn't really a mainstream / household thing anymore. Basically, Doc Savage was an action scientist created in the 20s for various "pulps" magazines. He's basically the archetype of the two fisted adventurer going to strange locations, fist fighting bad guys, exploring hidden lands, etc. He not only heavily influenced the creators who made Indiana Jones, The Rocketeer and the 1999 Mummy films, but also inspired elements of Superman (Doc Savage's first name was Clark, he had a base in the arctic literally called The Fortress of Solitude, he was called The Man of Bronze, etc.). The Rock's character from the last Jumanji movies was basically a Doc Savage parody, as was Jonas Venture from the Venture Bros. Basically, anytime you see this buff action scientist who is both logical yet solves his problems mostly via fist fights, he's at least partially inspired by Doc Savage. And Doc Savage novels are still being written to this day.
@@Paxchi Its from THAT FAR back and people still remember somehow, Its probably counts as Classic Literature at this point.
Superman inspiration part sounds super intresting, how did i never heard that before.
Many Thanks for explaining in details!
@@pdokik9340 My pleasure! Always happy to share some of what I've picked up in my time. For my money, Doc Savage's stuff should count as classic literature, but I'm very, VERY biased. :D
As for the good doctor himself, he's one of those concepts that sleeps for a bit but never really goes away. Like I said, he inspired a lot of creators, and he's always popped up in some form. In the 70s Marvel Comics did a run of comics based off of him. In the 80s there was a Doc Savage film that leaned heavy on the cheese and wasn't the best example of the character. DC Comics took their own stab at the character in the late 80s and 90s, I believe. Dynamite Comics did some comics of Doc Savage all through the 2010s, I want to say some as recent as 2018-2020. There's also been reprints of his older stories pretty constantly through the years, and even new novels being made as recently as 2017.
So while he isn't Superman/Batman/Spider-Man popular, he's known by a lot of writers and comic creators, old school and new, and there's enough of a dedicated following that they can keep putting out new stuff at least once a decade. He's much very much in the vein of characters like The Shadow, Flash Gordon, the Phantom and the like who aren't really mainstream, but never completely lose relevance.
If you're curious to know more, I'd highly recommend "The Wild Adventures of Doc Savage" book series by Will Murray, a more recent run of novels by a Doc Savage historian that combine all of the fun of the old pulps but with modern writing sensibilities. If you like those, you can easily find collections of the older stories for cheap on Amazon. And if you enjoy audiobooks, I'd recommend radioarchives.com, as they have most of those novels in audio book format.
I need to rewatch this show! I really hope it gets recognised more with all the Cartoon Network nostalgia that's been brewing lately, the Secret Saturdays was awesome!
Damn the parents are great. I remember the show but never finished it as a kid. Funny how the dad is a super scientist and the mom is on the other end of science and magic

Doc and Drew had such a great loving and real relationship (even their arguments were great) and I even loved how they had opposite views on science and magic. Also not so common to see interracial couples in cartoons at this time. Zak was such a kid but you could tell how well he was raised and how much good was in him.
