Awesome. Doing pre-purchase research. I won't buy a laptop I can't change stuff on. Now if they just had more USB ports...

I'm quite impressed with this laptop. Easy to upgrade - videos like this are great! Well done HP. I'm ditching Apple... their stuff is overpriced and becoming near impossible to upgrade yourself.

@HPSupport I went to upgrade the ram. Purchased compatible ram off the crucial site. Powered down the laptop. Unplugged the power cord. Carefully followed the instructions to access the ram modules (not my first rodeo, replaced ram and hard drives in dozens of laptops in my past) Replaced the ram modules with the new ones. Went to power on the machine. 0 power... Plugged the power cord back in, still no power and no light. Switched the ram back to original ram, still no power and no light. Really don't think static as was working on a mat and had no issues when opening the machine and changing the ram. Only when I went to power the machine back on. What could have happened? do you have any suggestions?

    • @PositiveMindsetWins
      @PositiveMindsetWins 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Solved by @Geeksquad for $40 quick fix... Although, not my first rodeo amateur move. After replacing the ram, I should have unplugged the battery, then reconnected it so it could reset the bios and machine. First time using @geeksquad and the service and solution was priceless! Hope this can help someone else..

Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue in upgrading the memory of your notebook.
I will do my best to assist you.
HP service manual and the specs indicate that your notebook only supports DDR4-3200 memory.
DDR5 memory runs at a lower voltage, has a different number of contact pins and the slot in the memory board is cut in a different place than it is in DDR4 memory making it physically impossible to install a DDR5 memory chip in a DDR4 memory slot.
The Crucial memory specs for the model series indicates the notebook will support 2 x 32 GB of memory.
I do not recommend installing 2 x 32 GB of DDR4-3200 memory unless you run this command first to confirm that would be possible, since the service manual indicates that only 2 x 16 GB of memory is supported.
      1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
      2. Once the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
      Regards,
      HP Support

Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you need help in locating the CMOS battery on your notebook.
I will do my best to assist you.
Most of the newer HP notebooks such as yours do not have a CMOS battery.
The internal battery maintains the clock and BIOS settings.
Below is the link to the service manual for your model series, and as you can see... no RTC (CMOS) battery is listed and nor is there a procedure to remove and replace the RTC battery: hp.care/47ackTM
