In this one I challenged Dean Gleeson, who was recently voted the UK's Best Barber to cut my grown out thinning and Balding hair. There were 2 rules to the challenge. No shaved head and no trying to make it look like I had a full head of hair. We wanted to get a cool style out of what I had and I think Dean absolutely did just that. Coining this one the "Baldcafe Double Blend"

I agree. Worth a try, but the dark hair simply is creating a framing device to showcase a bald top of the head, which does tend to look old man ish. Id go just low stubble all round, not necessarily super bold to the skin.

@@rondoespsych5901 It was an interesting attempt but after looking at the results, no fucking way I walk out of there like that if it was me. Shave it all off and move on. Quite confident to rock it but it does not look even remotely good to me.

Baldness really sucks . I have dealt with it since my early 20’s . So glad that it doesn’t totally consume me nowadays like it did when I was younger.
I wonder how it would look if the sides were buzzed into lightning bolts or some other abstract design? It might be fun to experiment with. Ultimately you’d look great with any style! 😊
Exactly what I was thinking. Couple of tram lines on one side to break it up a bit. It will take the emphasis off the top a bit then as the eyes will be drawn to the lines.

Your vulnerability combined with your confidence is quite lovely. No loss of masculinity at all, just the opposite! This was a privilege to watch, as a female who loves seeing haircuts (male and female) this was very refreshing, and totally positive.
This is EXACTLY what we need! People suffering hair loss shouldn't feel pressured to either shave it all off or to get a hair transplant/wig. You've still got hair, why not have fun with it? The cut feels a little unusual, as we don't see balding men with dope haircuts, but it definitely looks good. Can see it catching on, hope more men will embrace their hair, no matter how much they've got 💯

That looks great! It is a shame hair grows so fast. How nice would it be to keep it just like that for awhile? Before you know it, the day is over. A sleep cycle happens, and when you wake up, it slowly becomes not quite the same. It really does look so great. So different. You must have felt one of a kind. Nobody that you see has that style. Amazing work. Amazing stuff.

I honestly think that is a terrific haircut that is professionally executed. He worked with the available hair and created some remarkable contrast or fade. That should be part of your arsenal. I think style is just what we feel confident wearing, regardless of it may first be perceived. If you're confident wearing any style, people will "perceive" it positively. So it is more about the person's confidence than anything else.
Seems like a lot of time and effort to achieve a look that most of us were trying to avoid in the first place.
I think the real challenge is to walk with this cut cause it’s so unusual

Just a basic, bald man’s haircut; a great alternative for those of us who don’t like the shaved look. I actually rock the horseshoe my myself, enjoy getting it cleaned up biweekly at the barbershop.
You look sooooooo much like my ex, its craaaaaazy. I wish I could post a pic cuz you'd be shocked. I liked that you did this video by the way, about going out of your comfort zone and trying new styles. I actually like the idea of seeing what can be done with the hair rather than just shaving it(though I'm asucker for bald men) or trying to cover it. I do actually like the cut. Looks good. Hot actually. ☺ its almost like the best of both worlds with the top but then ya got the fade going on looking sharp with the profile. But anyway, that's enough from me. Lol. I'll shutup now. At first I was like "just do a complete shave", but then with the turtleneck pictures at the end, this really works for the "smart look", gives off Steve Jobs vibes, an awesome option for men, that want to own the half-bald head look!

I think you actually looked good after this cut. Imo for a bald man there should be a golden rule: no turnovers. If you respect that rule everything's fine. 🙌

In my opinion it is better, cleaner than the before.
Because I was balding for a long time I developed some sort of anxiety for the barbers. Even if I had the balls to get this hairstyle, I wouldn't keep it. Having it all trimmed at a zero would still be my preference.

With your help I have really come to terms with my own balding and am really comfortable now with anything between a grade 1 and zero guard and love it! Your video challenged me to rid my scalp of the balding/thinning top and sport a shaved top "power haircut". I've had a total shave before, but this cut proves to me, friends, and family that I'm OK being bald and actually PROUD and good looking, with this new "old man haircut".
I encourage other guys to give it a try.

Y’know what I actually don’t hate it! Personally I’d probably fade it a little lower or less intense so there’s more weight on the sides but this is very intriguing… might just try it myself!
I agree. Lower fade and the bottom should probably be a 1/2 or a 1 and then up to a 1.5 or a 2 blended.

Also, in the early 90s you could train to be a barber and become qualified without training to be a “hairdresser” cutting woman’s hair.

I use an epilator to get rid of the stray hairs on top, then just wear the hair in the back and sides like yours here

Lol, it definitely looks better than it did before! Definitely a look with the fit, almost like a wealthy aristocrat who isn’t the least bit concerned by a bald top. This definitely shows confidence, but I think nothing beats the classic, clean head shave with the good ol razor. Definitely grow the beard out more and then blend/fade the beard toward the top by the ears with the classic bald shave!
