- The On Cloudmonster Hyper is a distance training shoe that combines elements of speed and comfort. Priced at $220, it builds on the success of the OG Cloudmonster by introducing a slab of PEBA race foam into the forefoot. In this video, I give an overview of the Hyper, compare it to shoes in the category like the Neo Vista, Superblast and Skyward X, take it out for two runs totaling 24 miles and let you know my thoughts on how it stacks up.

Just now getting back to you about the 361 degrees flame rs running shoes lol I’ve been abusing my rebel v3s. These flame rs shoes are one of if not the best running shoe I have ever tried they remind me of my saucony endorphin pro 3s just based off the firm snappy ride they give you but they are much wider in the mid foot which I love and feel much more stable and supportive in the heel!! Only one run in them so far but it makes me excited for what’s to come. Can’t wait for you to try them out… keep up the great work!

I took the Cloudmonster Hyper out for a first run this morning and was really impressed. I’m a forefoot striker and the peba in the forefoot feels really nice especially without a plate.
I think there is absolutely value to the online shoe reviews but I also take them in context and I listen to the descriptions of the feel and the ride. Also, you seem to not like heel bevels, which I don't notice. For example, the Skyward X and Hyper are not shoes I would take a chance on because they seem more like big guy shoes. The SL2, on the other hand sounds like a good risk, especially as it is likely to get heavily discounted.
You started to go there with the SL2 vs. Hyper but I think there could be value in comparing some of these premium trainers to less expensive ones regarding how much extra value you actually get. I'm thinking about shoes like the 860v14 or Craft Pacer that are also pushing up to that 40mm stack.

@@supwellI took notice of those models because they all look nicely rockered but that is also part of the value that you add to the conversation. I would never have known about any of those models if you hadn't highlighted them.
Can we get an updated long run video update on the Kinvara Pros? Very interesting shoe and you have differing opinions from what I see from most reviewers!
Good call - I will add that to long run list. Stay tuned! I did do a 20 mile double run day in it on the first or second day I had it though and if performed great. Not super soft but lots of cushion for those long miles and great rocker for rolling right along

These look so good but I really can’t justify the price. I just ordered the Hoka Skyward X (on sale for 190) after your mizuno neo vista review.

The only way I can think to get value out of the price is if it was your do it all shoe, thankfully it sounds like it can handle it. I’ve never been big on forums but I would try it out with the community your building.
Please make one short video where all you do is show us how you tie your shoes.

Yowana, what do you think is the best recovery day shoe for running slow miles? I'm not looking for versatility but only need a true "slow day" shoe.
I purchased the Neo Vistas for this purpose but agree with your assessment that they aren't a slow plodder. With that said, I'm having a ton of fun running in them, just at a little faster Pace.

I looking for a shoe that has a width toe box to spread my feet and a have not to high drop off and rocker. I have some Achilles issues and a lot of shoe now have high drop of and big rocker. What give more supination and relax maybe my Achilles buth ask more range of motion and strenght of my calfs and sometime if by body weight get to far forward I also have to have the deceleration control of my Achilles as well. Not great. Stability is also important so very soft foam is for me not great with 84 kilo gram.
So I looking for a daily / recovery trainer and a up tempo shoes. Could this or order you prefer be one I could try.

Tried this shoe on in a store and the upper is so premium. I’d put it up there with the nimbus.
Felt like I’d really enjoy this shoe but can’t validate the price without full length PEBA and/or a plate.
Yeah man it's annoying that On does this pricing on their shoes - they always go $10 to $20 more than everyone else and almost never on sale. If it were $200 or below I think more people would give it a shot

This was my long run choice, Superblast was too narrow and without any give (the fabric is non-stretching), though gotta say the Superblast bounces a bit more. Was looking for a non plated shoe that could deliver what these two do. Yes, expensive as hell so took a shot at it and paid the extra $$ without regretting it thus far. Also, being On brand, doubles as a shoe to wear as a non-running shoe.
Yowana, question for you: for a 4hr targetted marathon time, first time marathoner, would you recommend the CloudMonster Hyper versus getting some of the plated racers (e.g. I’m thinking of getting the NB SC Elite V4 or TYR Valkyrie, but more $$ to spend)? Would the plate be a good assistance for staying on foot for so many hours?
Superblast was too narrow for me too. Did you size down in the Cloudmonster Hyper or was the fit "normal" length wise?
If you already have the Hyper and don't want to spend extra money it will be a great marathon shoe. The TYR and New Balance definitely have more pop and bounce, but the Hyper is more comfortable/less aggressive. So if you really want the extra benefit and can spend the money then go for the racers, but you'll be getting a lot of the performance and more comfort with the shoe you already have
@@jimbeam4736 It is a smidge longer than true to size. Didn’t test half size smaller when at the store, but I’m also prone to black toenails so this didn’t seem like an issue. Afraid trying half a size down might risk the toenails or sacrifing the safety of the roomy design.

I "need" one shoe for my long runs marathon training and my mom is brining me one pair as a gift from her Europe trip. I just wonder, how is it for heel strikers? its a shame that PEBA its just on the forefoot.
Now that it's broken in it's awesome for all footstrikes and paces. If you're looking for a do it all shoe for running and walking and can spend the $220 this would be perfect. I'm more of a heel striker at relaxed paces this feels super smooth - the cloud pods work nicely to roll you through the stride without being too aggressive

And be advised, I can 100% guarantee you I'm not the only person like me. We have very busy lives and I cannot commit an hour out of the day to watching one sneaker review program. And I'm not aware of anyone that can afford to do that?
You can change the playback speed up to 2x. That helps me keep up
😢 damn it! I am so excited about these shoes and I would really love to watch a review on them but I can't do 1 hour and 3 minutes. I don't have the attention span to do that and I certainly don't have the time to do that nobody has the time to do that. I watch every sneaker review channel of report that is out there so I can't spend an hour on each one or any of them for that matter. I love your material but the length is just simply not doable.
