Perfect timing to drop the video with the leaks out. You teased us with the AP3 cop a while back and then we never heard from them again - glad this video is finally out. Cheers!
Been using a few pairs of these as a daily trainer for about a year now with the takumi sen 10 and alphafly 3 as the only other shoes in my rotation. The upper is horrendous for me, but the protection, stability, ability to pick up pace, and HR/Stride/efficiency statistics speak for themselves. They almost make me permanently immune from leg fatigue
@@joakimtollerud2172 the toe box is actually perfect for me, what gets me is the non padded tongue. I have to tie these pretty tight so I get that nasty clamping down and rubbing feeling sometimes
@@Lsj1775 I had the same problem until I tried to size down. The downsized pair feels so snug that I can actually jog in them without tying them. When first trying them on I was skeptical because it all seemed so snug and tight, but the pressure points, toe-packing, nail-lifting or other related psychologically looming problems just never came upon actually trying them out. They are my second skin now and the complete absence of issues with the upper, which so many other runners report... well, I had some of that with "my" size and it disappeared with a half-size down. I think most people misundertand how snugly performance-oriented Adidas really make their racing shoes.
Wow - was not expecting that kind of shout out at 1:11:00! You’re way too kind man, thank you! The Metaspeed Edge Paris were great for the half distance, but may have been a little unnecessary for where I am in my journey if I’m being honest with myself. As a hobby jogger who just got up to his first 45 mile peak week in the HM training block, the forefoot area of my feet may not have been ready for the pounding they took on in a max effort 1:35 half. With that said, they’re as aggressive and as speedy as I’d ever want in a HM shoe in a good way, assuming I’m confident in my forefoot strength and durability. For anyone looking at using this shoe for a marathon or a half, I recommend you be on the upper end of training mileage for the distance and also be very comfortable practicing race pace in the shoe on tired legs at the end of your long runs. In the end they got me the PR I was aiming for along with some extra sore feet 😅
of course man! and sorry to hear about the sore feet! i hadn't thought about that as a potential tradeoff with one of these more aggressive shoes - i agree that running race pace in the racers is huge. something i'm doing more of in the next cycle for sure. i think the additional benefit of being comfortable in them is more important than trying to keep them special for race day which i've done in the past
@@supwell agreed completely! And like you’ve said in past videos you have to have the right tool for the job. This shoe adios pro 3 is absolutely my favorite long run racer. I am larger runner and can hold 7 min pace in this shoe. I am 42 and 6’1” and 210 lbs and more muscular build than most runners .
My favorite part of your run videos is your editing choice to leave in the sounds of the birds chirping as you run off. And personally, I like the length of the vids. Always learn something new as you talk through your perspectives and what you’ve learned. I really appreciate your effort on these!! And as a lover of the Boston 12, I may have to pick up a pair of the Pro 3s to try.
Getting up at 4:30 doesn't get any easier as you get older. Shout out to my neighbor though, who is in his late 70's and often rolls out on his bike around 5:30. Good to see you getting more miles on the AP3. Like the Endorphin Pro, it sounds like a durable shoe that people can use a lot.
Also Great review. I definitely think you're spot on. Its not the fastest marathon shoe but definitely stable, great rocker for midfoot strikers and a tank (durable AF) for us non sub 3 mortals. Going for 1:29/1:30 in half soon so well see if it can hold those paces, if not im getting that Diadora Gara Carbon
Thanks man. I think it will be great for a 1:29 half - Gara is great too but just so expensive. Also heads up that I've heard from a few people that the durability has been a little disappointing
Yeah pro 4 is my favorite overall racer right now. I also really liked the hoka rocket x2 for shorter distance racing. It's almost like a more nimble adios pro 3 - but I only have one run on it so far so need to get some more miles in it
i liked this shoe but in testing it, I had to return it: the upper is a rigid material, that really didn’t help my left foot’s pinky toe. I started to feel the pressure early in the test, just 10K with them, and rubbing and redness was evident. The material at certain points doesn’t have any give. I don’t have wide feet, but just a “big pinky” which makes my foot average width. The rest was interesting, just a bit demanding.
Bro ! Just copped these bad boys. I got the black yellow colourway in my usual size 9, keen to really put some k’s in them. Now my running shoe rotation is: Adizero SL, (easy runs), Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 (workout) and Adios Pro 3! (also for fast paced workouts). Still love the speed 4’s which I have in black and I also wear as a casual daily shoe. Feeling under foot for the Peo 3 is awesome! Love the feeling of the foam compressing a bit on each stride when I land and then pushing me up and forward. They do feel slightly stiffer than my speed 4’s but at the same time the higher stack gives me more bounce, so I reckon they help do a lot of the work for you and make a long run feel less demanding on the legs. Keen to see if I can beat my pb for 7km with these!
Hello! I had a brief look at your Endorphin Pro 4 PR of 2:55, and it confirmed my suspicion: for the same effort (HR), you ran FASTER in the Adios Pro 3 compared to the EP4, even taking to account the elevation gain!
Got a pair of Adios Pro 3s here in the U.K. for £135 with a discount code and free shipping. I like Lightstrike Pro (in the Takumi Sens) but think these shoes are probably for stronger runners who can generate some bounce. I seem to go faster in lighter shoes (Vaporfly 3s) that promote a higher cadence. Enjoying your musings from this side of the pond.
just scored this shoe at 50% off directly from Adidas, my shoe addiction would not let me pass on the sale, which is super rare. I already have a couple of boston 12s and absolutely love them. The adios pro 3 is 100% lightstrike pro whereas the Boston 12 is only partially lightstrike pro, mostly in the forefoot, that may be the difference in feel in the heel that your feeling.
The fact that you’re only a few years in to running and dropping sub 3 marathons multiple times within the same quarter of the year is huge man!Excited to see you crush some speedy speed - it definitely helps you land in that optimum position for super shoes - which is good because you’ve got more carbon fiber in your closet than there is on a race car
After using V1,V2,V3 as well as the OG I gave up on Adidas adios line..the OG and V1 had great uppers then it was all downhill from there..the OG was basically a racing flat ,but V1 was the best of the line for me..9-10mi is the limit for me cos by then I can feel the rods in the forefoot cushioning..I broke the rods in 2prs and just gave up on them..the Saucony pro4 does work for me since I swapped out the insole..the HG insole ruined it for me..nice long run test..you just showed how the long distance runs can change your whole concept of training ..

Dang that is a LOT of cream cheese on that bagel. PS Fat stays in the stomach for a relatively long time . ALSO I like the idea of training the body to become more efficient in burning fat. 1 gram of carbs = 4 cal. of energy 1 gram of fat = 9 cal. of energy. LOVING YOUR CHANNEL.😊
Adidas Takumi Sen or hoka rocket x2. I loved the Takumi Sen 8 - super low profile and fast feeling. The 10 is a minor update - still need to get some miles in it but it's not too different. And then the rocket x2 is my favorite of the marathon racing styles shoes for faster speed. It's a little more planted and less squishy than a lot of the other ones I've tried
i wouldn't buy this if you need something for everyday runs. the adizero sl2 is a much better shoe for reliable and comfortable everyday miles with some fun still
Appreciate the review across multiple runs including a full marathon run! FWIW, Matt's idea of fat loading doesn't work. It's just an overglorified keto diet with slow glycogen depletion. What would work better is just depleting glycogen in a couple days, going high protein + low carb, and then doing zone 1 / zone 2 training fasted / in a depleted state (which is SUPER hard) as part of a cyclic ketogenic diet + Carb up before any intense workouts and long runs. Do this for a few weeks before the carbload / taper into a race. Once it adapts, your body will get good at burning fat and operating in Keto. Credit Lyle McDonald.
Thanks man I'll look into that one. I prob won't do any of these hardcore "protocols" but it's cool to know the different options out there for improving performance
The adios pro 3 is a lot more cushioned and also has a bigger rocker underfoot for more roll. It feels easier to run in than the Takumi Sen - the Takumi is lightweight but it's super narrow and really only best for me when I'm running close to half marathon pace or faster
This, the cielo x1 and the new balance sc elite v4. They all have wide bases - the cielo x1 is the current favorite for a lot of people right now, especially in the 3 to 4 hour marathon range. It's super bouncy and fun while still being stable
There’s a great 6 part series on the huberman lab podcast about fitness with Andy Galpin. He spends a whole episode talking about best diet practices for fitness and exercise. It’s worth the listen
Skip the first eyelets, then if it's still not good, use a fresh box cutter or similar to seam rip the loops and needle nose pliers to remove the loop over the big toe entirely. Softens the upper in that area and bends more freely.
Hey, I’ve had similar issues. Gone through 2 pairs of Pro3’s… it can self correct on your next run, you just get used to it.. Else try loosening the lace on your first eyelets.
Loosening the first eyelets and using KT tape have helped me a ton when it some to avoiding any irritation in that area. It does seem to self correct after a few runs as @richardmarshall1647 mentioned. I have a pair that has about 300 miles on it and the upper just disappears on my runs and all I feel is that lovely broken in lightstrike pro 👌🏾
I see you did the “Offset” reference in this first 😂 Love it bro! I have one running book/philosophy suggestion that could help you with getting closer to your speed potential: Run Elite! It’s a book and a YT channel with Andrew Snow, its author. He covers the whole gambit of running from training, nutrition, accessory exercises, and mindset with a focus on what the elites do and how we can apply the same principles as hobby joggers. He’s big on increasing weekly strides to be close to the # of miles per week you run during base training, which is way different than most runners approach strides. He mentions Bekele as an example of an elite who does this with huge success. Let me know what you think if you check it out!
One more thing: Andrew Snow does not (nor do I) suggest that if you don’t do 100 strides per week at 100 miles per week you won’t improve. Rather, doing more strides, I.e. during most/all easy runs with sufficient recovery between each stride during base training can really help form and speed. Cheers 🙏
hahahah it didn't enough love in this video so i had to run it back twice. and i like the idea of working in more strides to the daily runs - one theme i'm seeing on improving training is doing more steady running and more top-end running
Get a pair of the Prime X Strung, makes the Pro 3 feel dull by comparison, be careful though, it is probably one of the most unstable shoe I have ever run in, so careful with the foot strike.
Ran all the way with one bathroom break! I usually do my runs straight through without walking/stopping, unless I'm doing a structured workout with shorter and faster reps with rest in between - then I will walk, stand or do slow jogging. I haven't trained like that in a while though. Or I will stop if I need to use the bathroom, like I did in mile 8 on this run 😂
I can do a 12 mile loop without doing any circles, so I'll do that twice and get the last few with a third round of the first part. The streets are open and there's lots of trees/scenery so I don't mind it

The adios pro 3 is a lot more cushioned and also has a bigger rocker underfoot for more roll. It feels easier to run in than the Takumi Sen - the Takumi is lightweight but it's super narrow and really only best for me when I'm running close to half marathon pace or faster
What would you say is the most stable plated racing shoe?
This, the cielo x1 and the new balance sc elite v4. They all have wide bases - the cielo x1 is the current favorite for a lot of people right now, especially in the 3 to 4 hour marathon range. It's super bouncy and fun while still being stable
@@supwell Thank you!! This is super helpful! Please keep up the amazing content - you always have me laughing
These good for wider feet runners?
There’s a great 6 part series on the huberman lab podcast about fitness with Andy Galpin. He spends a whole episode talking about best diet practices for fitness and exercise. It’s worth the listen
Audio issues?
Big cut out in the front is a big flaw. My feet bend outward as you push off.
The eyelets on the upper is really killin my big toe on my right foot. Any ideas folks? I really like this shoe otherwise.
Not sure about anyone else, but I'm getting no audio with this post.
I’m hearing it
Hearing it now as well. But I checked and heard 4, 5 other videos without hearing this one previously.
you have such a lovely family.
But the lacing... the lacing is a nightmare... I tried 3 different laces, and an "okay-fit" is the best I achieved :(
😂 "Shout out to all my Mor...".
Don't leave us hanging about m-o-b-b!
Love a long video. And coffee fast? That’s a no from me.
I love these shoes but they create blisters behind my heel. For this reason I can't use them in a marathon.
Shout-out Mom
Get a pair of the Prime X Strung, makes the Pro 3 feel dull by comparison, be careful though, it is probably one of the most unstable shoe I have ever run in, so careful with the foot strike.
Did you run all the way? Or walked some of it?
Ran all the way with one bathroom break! I usually do my runs straight through without walking/stopping, unless I'm doing a structured workout with shorter and faster reps with rest in between - then I will walk, stand or do slow jogging. I haven't trained like that in a while though. Or I will stop if I need to use the bathroom, like I did in mile 8 on this run 😂
Leaked shoe preview back?😂
Hahaha only where relevant
@@supwell Hahaha, black wall background, limited-time return
Where are you finding 26 miles at home? Is it a boring run (like a lot of circles), seems like you take off from the same spot every time.
I can do a 12 mile loop without doing any circles, so I'll do that twice and get the last few with a third round of the first part. The streets are open and there's lots of trees/scenery so I don't mind it

@@supwell ahhh gotcha sounds good.
Also also...man if you don't get in the car and try those shoe on some of Charlottes best trails.
For the sake of content I'll watch the kids lol
RIP Norah Jones 😂
1h30 yo what
Adding a tablespoon of quality coconut oil here and there is a great way to get some good fat!
AP3 > B12 in every way.
He was doing the "Biden whisper" lol
