    one thing to mention as well is if you have a 360hz 2k 1440p monitor and you want to record with mk2 you can go to 144hz only. Also, make sure when you clone to go under Nvidia Control Panel > Set up multiple displays > right click on the cloned icon and SETUP YOUR MAIN SCREEN AS THE CLONE SOURCE. I"VE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT BUT NOBODY MENTIONED ANYTHING!!!!

    One thing to add to this guide if you're using the Cloning method. At 4:51 in this video, if you find the "Video Input" readout is not showing 1440p144 (eg, 1440p120). Go back to your graphics driver settings or Windows settings where you applied the cloning, remove the cloning by going back to the default dual monitor mode (eg Extended). Now open your graphics driver settings and go to where you set the resolution and refresh rate of each device (this is "Change resolution" on the left for Nvidia settings) click on the Elgato 1440p device and set the refresh rate to 144hz and apply. Now re-apply the cloning

      When I follow these steps, there are no 144hz selections for the 4K60 Pro capture card... only 60 and 120hz... just by some luck I had another HDMI 2.0 cable laying around so I tried it and that was the issue... Cable that came with Elgato 4K60 Pro does NOT support 144hz for whatever reason...

    This didn't work for me, until I disabled G-sync, and enabled Nvidia Fast Sync instead. I would recommend that to anyone reading this and tearing their hair out over it.
    I believe setting your monitor to 120hz also helps, as 144hz is not divisible by 60 - which is actually the max hz of the card, despite what Elgato and this video would have me believe. Am I wrong on that? For that reason, I kind of wish I bought a 1080p 240hz monitor instead, as that IS divisible by 60.

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      GSync is not compatible with capture cards in general. And yes, 120hz can help a lot

    • @VaatiVidya
      @VaatiVidya 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EposVox do you know why fast sync is and gsync isn't? Couldnt quite puzzle that out.
      And is there currently a card that can handle the 1440p 144hz? Or does that throw most of them off?
      I should mention that it was overall a good video, it helped me out. I just found that tweet from elgato saying "1440p 144hz" a bit misleading, as it led me to get the 4k60pro

    • @EposVox
      @EposVox  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fast Sync is supported, as it's just a better way of handling VSync. GSync required DisplayPort and interacting directly with the monitor itself with special hardware (part of why GSync monitors are so much more expensive) - and just generally capture cards are designed for static refresh rates, not variable refresh rate.
      Variable Refresh is still a very new tech and there's no real reason for it outside of game systems so I wouldn't expect to see capture hardware support it much in general, maybe when HDMI 2.1 takes over, but that's a long way and $$ away

      Yeh I had to do the same here, my 144hz 1440p was stuck on 1440p60 in capture utility. However, I didn’t need to disable gsync but I did had to change to 120hz for it work. Tho it still worked with Gsync enable, I followed ur tip still disabled it n enable fast.

    I was struggling with my Elgato HD60 Pro because I didnt quite understand how I should configure it, right there at the 4:25 mark explained that you can duplicate both the display port with the hdmi port(edited)
    I was getting ready to buy a hdmi splitter because I was trying to figure out why the picture looked like crap when I have 2 of the same monitor but one was now connected hdmi rather than both display port. I duplicated the monitor and that helped me resolve the issue. Just used the HDMI output on the 1070 card as a duplicate out into the elgato. Thank you!

    Ok, so after few days of tinkering around and following so many isntructions, guides, etc. this video helped me get closest to the resolution of the issue.
    Here is what I have Dual-PC setup wise to lay the ground for what to expect:
    Gaming PC - gaming at 165hz (G-sync cert monitor)
    Streaming PC - 4k60 Pro (Source: 1440p @ 120hz; Capture: 1080p @ 60hz)
    IMPORTANT: As I was following this guide, to achieve 1440p @ 144hz as a source on my streaming PC in 4k Gaming Utility, I only managed to do it with my own separately purchased HDMI 2.0 certified cable... They tell you to use HDMI cable that case with the capture card, but in my case I was stuck at 1440p@120hz only... The moment I swapped HDMI cables (GPU to Elgato Capture Card "IN) I instantly got 144hz... So, ensure to have handy another proven HDMI 2.0 cable just in case...
    Outcome:
    I am still able to play at 165hz on my G-Sync cert monitor without any issues... I have cloned the displays (main gaming monitor to Elgato), and I adjusted manually refresh rate on Elgato display (in my gaming pc) to 120hz... it helps with Screen tearing from what I was able to find online...
    On Streaming PC in 4k Gaming Utility I have Source set at 1440p (comes in at 120hz - intentionally) and captures/records in 1080p60...
    Note: Initially I have setup my gaming PC to play at 144hz and I matched 1440p144 on Elgato 4k Gaming Utility but I was getting screen tearing on my gaming PC... not on the streaming PC which was odd... anyhow, I tried fully using 165hz, and than downgrading the source to 120hz because Elgato capture card does not care if it is slightly lower refresh rate, because all I need it to do is capture 1080p60 and stream that without loosing quality or having tearing etc.
    Today I tested it for about 10 minutes, and recorded a video, so, happy to report it all worked well.

    5 years later and this is still a pain. I'm surprised nvidia or someone has not jumped in with a simple solution. Ideally it would just be some box that scales whatever to 1080 60. I know it's not easy, but they could at least make something that would do 240 fps or 120 fps to 60, which should be easier.

      I did want to ask one question - When I use 2 pc for my stream, my Stream PC is HDMI connected of course through my current El Gato HD 60 Pro, but I get horrible screen tearing due to my game PC using a 144hz monitor. This 4k card can handle 1080 144hz so its perfect for me, BUT, does the STREAM PC monitor, need to be a 144hz monitor, or will it not matter? I figure it won't and that the monitor just won't give me the 144hz but that the Capture card will still reciprocate the 144hz input from my game PC, and not produce screen tearing since it actually supports 144hz. I do not need a 144hz HDMI monitor on top of this card do I?

    Followed this video and it works. I had to originally change the refresh rate from 144 to 120 and then back for the cloned sourced to switch from 60 to 144. However I am having one small issue with my GPU.
    While playing games that are DirectX11 I have no issues at all. However if the game is using DirectX12 and the Streaming PC is on with the cloning active the GPU usage will instantly drop. So far with Battlefield V and the CoD:MW Beta this weekend it was doing it. However with Borderlands 3 (DirectX11 active) no issues or drops what so ever. It's not overwhelming drops but instead of a solid 144 for example in CoD:MW it goes to 90-110 range with the GPU never going above ~60% usage.
    Gaming PC is a 8700K at 4.8 and a 2080Ti.

      SlawbunniesNuts I tried dual pc a year ago. I encountered a few problems with the screen tearing mainly due to different refresh rate of my monitors. What I know that will work just fine is with ndi or capture, you need either both monitors to be 144hz or 60hz or 240hz. That's the only solution that I know will work 100%. However, I doubt everyone uses a 144hz monitor as a second monitor, so there's gotta be a way using one 144hz and one non 144hz. I look forward to the solution tho

    • @pujiea
      @pujiea 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I just remembered why I didn't consider NDI was because it really did eat performance. my gaming cpu is 6700k, I don't know how well it works with 2700x or 1700x. It could totally be nothing for those cpus, but I doubt it

  • @Pabula

    One question, in the past, clonning and using a capture card would show tearing unless using vsync, and windows only send a vsync signal on the primary display, how do you bypass this?

    I've cloned my 1080p240hz monitor and in 4K Utility it says 1080p60. The reason I sold my HD60 Pro and bought this 4K60 Pro was so I could stream without screen tearing while cloning to my monitor. The issue I'm getting still occurs, when tabbing out of a game, it gives me a black screen and I have to wait for a while to then see the desktop (this only happens when I'm cloning). Another issue I get when cloning is that when moving windows or scrolling it seems like it's 60hz but moving my mouse it is 240hz. I've read online that this card does support 1080p240hz but in the Nvidia control panel it only goes upto 1080p120 and when cloning my monitor it says 240hz but in the 4K Utility it's only 1080p60.

    What I don't understand is how is she able to split the mic signal to both her stream and game pc? Her diagram shows that, splitting the aux send to both systems. How? From what I understand, mic signal is too low of an input to split to multiple devices and there isn't a cable to split them anyways. So how is that possible? Assuming that mic is generally set up on stream pc, how would she be able to talk in game?

As for gaming, the sound comes via HDMI, but when you're in a DAW you use ASIO, which isn't directly played back through windows MME but straight to your (external) sound card. How would you capture sound without the hassle of adding hardware (e.g. mixer)?

    I just received my Live Gamer 4K. Cloning was successful and my Game PC (PC1: Ryzen 3700X, 16 GB 3600 Ram, Sapphire Vega 64) is "sending" 1440p@144Hz to my BenQ Ex3203r and 1440p@144Hz to the Avermedia on Stream PC (PC2: i7 6700K, 16 GB Ram, Radeon R9 390). Setting up OBS was no issue at all but the first test stream was disappointing: While the game ran perfectly on PC1 the stream itself hat slight stutter and tearing (!). I tried forcing vsync on/off, deactivating freesync, switched between borderless and fullscreen ingame but no change.
    Later today I will try:
    - Passthrough (which I wanted to avoid)
    - Limiting PC1& monitor as well as capture card to 120 Hz and test again
    I used the HDMI 2.0 cable that came with the capture card. I really don't know what to do.
