Unpopular opinion: Wally is boring, unfunny, and not a performer. I am so tired of him.
Seth does this thing where he's talking naturally and you don't realize it's a setup to a joke.... and then he has this little pause.... and we don't know what he's going to say next, but our bodies are already reacting in anticipation to the amazing punchline.
The set up for the Wally being paralysed bit was GOLD! 😂

CORRECTION: I feel bad being a Jackal but I can’t resist this. I’ve had 2 brain surgeries and was thankfully knocked out for both of them(doing much better now.). I think it specifically depends on what part of the brain they’re operating on. Anyone who is interested, I had my right temporal lobe cut out(at least most of it.). It was to treat my epilepsy and iti’s a pretty standard procedure for that. You’re only usually kept awake when the surgery involves an area around your major motor skills. So they can test how you’re affected in real time instead of waiting till the end. It’s an easy mistake to make. You’d think they’d want you awake no matter what, I thought I would be, but thankfully no. Love ya Seth.

I love all the Wally content! And yes.. Knitting community and cat community are two overlapping circles where the "Venn" is "hypervigilant knitters defending their projects from curious cats".

Besides being extremely allergic to cats, and thus, not having this problem, as a knitter, I can't imagine having to keep cat hair and curious paws off my knitting! I love dogs, but I don't live with any, and I deliberately leave my knitting at home when I go to houses with pets. Keeping fish seems like the way to go as a knitter!
The stress of preventing them from eating yarn.....
My first major experience involving an animal and a knitting project, was actually with a dog (not that a curious cat wouldn’t have wanted to try something too). Said dog, who is super adorable, saw my knitting sitting on the table and decided to grab either the skien or the project itself and run across the house. He proceeded to go out the doggie door and half way across the backyard, the whole time the other half of my project was being dragged along behind him. When I found my project one part was in the house stuck against the doggie door and the other half was across the patio and several yards into the grass. Fortunately, there wasn’t any major damage and I just had to clean off some grass. lol
The battle can involve the cat’s jealousy anger at the knitter wanting to exclude the cat from playing with it as well. The knitter’s fingers and hands get bit and clawed while trying to pull the yarn loose - under the guise of ‘play.’ Lots of hurt feelings and raw anger can result.
Accused of being out of touch on prices at Subway, the response is, “Yes, out of touch comes with the job. Thanks!”

Shout out to Kenny Coil. Way to hold that cable, buddy.
He's the most important person on the crew. What Seth doesn't know is its the main power cable for all the lights & cameras and Kenny has to stretch it out so that it reaches the power socket. If Kenny drops it, the whole show goes dark.
So I worked with a guy Kevin Coil, an IT guy in Montana. He was all about the cable.

Donatello is the not the one with authority issues thats Raphael. If any one of the turtles would not wear a mask "because 'merica" its him. Mikey is a wild card. If he feels inclined to not wear a mask because hes a party dude, hed put one on if Leo or Donnie told him to. It could go either way with Mikey.
Donnie is the least likely to not wear a mask due to him being the science brain he is. So Seth, that was the worst of the 4 turtles to choose. Smh.
Donnie follows the science. Raph would definitely trade in his mask for a red hat.

He just doesnt like to be told what to do and has a different idea as how to lead but they all 4 have the same goal. The red hats are different type of people that dont have those attributes nor do they have the same goals as the non red hats. The only thing they have in common is that they dont like being told what to do. I dont like being told what to do and I'm certainly not a red hat magadouche (read megadouche lmao) as we call them.

In his defense, in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time Michelangelo does refer to the mask as a bandana. My wife had never seen it, and didn't understand why everyone hated the movie. So I did have to sit through it just yesterday. Now she knows lol. The incident of calling it a bandana happens at 36 min into the film. Though it is the least liked of the three original films, it is there.

I realized the reason I love Corrections so much is because the entire premise, attitude and atmosphere reminds me of Craig Ferguson when he found his groove.
Seth meyers new writing staff and this segment proves how he’s league ahead of the late night game.
Yeah, unlike some other late night hosts, Seth doesn't need to fill time pandering to the audience. It's the same show with or without one.

The reason why you are kept awake during brain surgery is so that the surgeon can get immediate feedback if they get anywhere close to cutting something they shouldn’t. The brain has no pain sensors, so the patient doesn’t actually suffer (much) discomfort.
I read once about this virtuoso violinist, who actually kept playing during his surgery, so the surgeon could be sure no damage was done to that precious skill.
Of course, your head is completely immobilized, otherwise the accuracy of the cutting would be jeopardized.
I remember that too, about the violinist. Now if I could only remember where I read it...
There are a few of these instances; one involved a virtuoso guitarist.
It was her surgery. British violinist Dagmar Turner.
Yeah, they literally screw your skull into a structure so that you cannot move the brain meats while they’re working. Just even breathing would make the surgery so very unsafe without it.
Not all brain surgeries keep the patient awake. I’ve had one.
And believe me when I woke up I was in incredible pain.
I just love how Corrections has evolved over time -- I love the show, anyway, but it's been such a joy to witness what you've been able to do with more breathing room (and/or comfort?) to experiment and be creative, Seth. Corrections (and Documentary Now tbh) feels like it was created precisely tuned to my personality, and how often do we luck out with that?

Donatello is the smartest Ninja Turtle and would always wear his mask. Being a contrarian, Raphael is the most likely to not wear a mask. Though, Michaelangelo might forget or be misinformed about mask wearing. Leonardo would be wearing a mask and have back-ups for everyone.

I never make a correction but as a lifelong Turtles fan, I found it insulting that Donatello was picked as an antimasker.
Raphael for sure and maybe Michaelangelo, hell I might have even let Leo slide. But Donatello, the tinkering scientist who holds logic and reason above all except family and pizza.
On top of that, Donatello and Leo would force raph and mikey to extra cautious for master splinter and they would, because they wouldn't ever want to hurt splinter
Donatello would have cured COVID by now using microbes from a leftover pizza slice, and some sort of Turtle Van aerosol spray dispenser. There wouldn't even be antivaxxers, or -maskers if the Turtles were on the job.

I love that all these people actually know things and correct them. Like I knew something felt off about the joke with Martha and Thomas but couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I know it was a timing thing. Right on jackals!

The back of the note card closer is one of my favorite parts of corrections. The closing line for A Closer Look are often off and awkward in tone , or even just lame and overreaching, but the Corrections messages are almost always on point.

CORRECTION: Seth refers to a single "confettum" in today's Closer Look. Actually, as confetti comes from the Italian word for a sugared almond, the singular would be "confetto".
The confettum did sound weird, and he paused on it, like he knew it wasn't right,so I was actually expecting it to be in this week's corrections.

Correction: Out of ALL the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Donatello would keep his his mask on, because he is the smartest and the most dedicated to science.
Raphael or Michelangelo would probably take their masks off first. Raphael, because he often self-centered and antisocial. Michelangelo, because he’s more impulsive and unfocused.
Great point - Michelangelo would be my pick, he’d be surfing the net, stuffing his face with pizza, reading batshit crazy conspiracy theories. Disagree about Raphael though, he’d be the guy being aggressive to anti-maskers. Meanwhile Donatello would be busy sampling the covid content in the waste water… he can finally work from home.

My brother had brain surgery for 5 hours. A nurse had to be facing him the whole time checking in on him. At one point he started giggling and they stopped the surgery. Nurse said he had to tell her what was happening and why he was laughing. He finally relented and told her all he was laughing thinking he was in that scene from the "Hannibal" movie where Ray Liotta's brain is fried and fed to him. All he could see was the nurse's eyes widen in horror above her surgical mask. Poor thing was traumatised!

Wally is so relatable. I bet if he had to talk, he would still obviously have the morning frog in his throat. Also, the appropriate term would probably be a spree killing. Serial killers have a cooling off period between murders.

a spree is multiple killings all done in essentially one go, or over the course of a few days.
serial killers pick targets and can wait a long time between killings.
then there's mass murderers, who usually kill a bunch of ppl all at once.

I'm with Seth on this one: a joke can only get old by its frequent use, so the dust becomes a metaphor for that frequent use. People are being too literal to see the joke.

My favorite part of the week
Real life hilarious corrections moment: on a Leslie Nielsen video, someone commented “surely, you can’t be serious”, so I replied to him of course with “yes, I’m serious, and stop calling me Shirley!” To which I was corrected by someone who said “he wasn’t calling you Shirley, he said SUREly”
My wittiest reply I came up with was “Surely you haven’t seen Airplane!”
I’m still giggling about the whole exchange and have no idea if the person was actually that literal or playing along with the joke. I’m assuming the former.

My friend in 7th grade was not only awake during brain surgery. He was awake during brain surgery that was being performed by the future United States Director of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Ben Carson. He was honestly a great guy. He did a video chat with the class all the way in the mid 90s explaining what was going to happen and how no one should make fun of the scar that would be on his head, and the guy honestly saved my friend's life....Then he went forth to take on politics....ooof.

I like “CORRECTIONS” I think as much as the show! Super smart writers! Seth is quick, sharp and funny (even when his writers do the work), and I just laugh out loud while watching these!
Whoaaa Seth writes corrections himself. Don't give his writers credit for this segment (even though his writers are the best). Mike Schumacher posted about it on Twitter. He apparently goes through the comments, and then he works on his jokes all week. That's why the reactions from the writers and crew are so genuine, they haven't heard the jokes before

Correction: the FBI's definition of what counts as serial murder was changed
a few years ago to "The unlawful killing of *two* or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events." It doesn't have to include 3 victims anymore.
So given the number of Marthas involved, can we assume that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are getting their own Zack Snyder superhero teamup movie?

Re: The spelling correction.. How the spelling error will be highlighted will be influenced by the platform (android, windows or iOS) and not the application (twitter) ... So ye are all correct, some might have dotted line, squiggly line or a straight line (See Seth some of us got your back !)

I was always a fan of Seth’s blue shirts. Now, this is probably a “navy blue” shirt, but for the sake of argument let us call it black. I think the black lends a certain gravitas that was missing from the show previously (Wally being the exception) that will lead the way to Emmy domination.
