I always thought making stamps was a super complicated thing! This is actually less complex than I thought! Thank you so much for this tutorial
My husband had ordered butchers' chaine maille and when he recieved his parcel, the seller sent along stamp blocks (about 30 of various sizes) from an old butcher shop. I don't throw stuff away since who knows when something might come in handy. After I clean them up, this is the perfect use. Thank you!!!!
I remember making stamps like that in middle school art class. Where do you buy yoyr carving boards. Do you know how to make molds?

Does it matter what kind of paper you use? Does it have to be transfer paper or can it be regular printer paper?
I wonder if you can you can use a rubber flip flop rubber slipper if you don't have a carving block on hand.

I draw on the rubber (using Speedy Carve) or just wing it ... Cut with only the small gouge wood carver i have.. And make them double sided. But they'll be used in mixed media so i'm not worried about perfection... I'd mount them if i used them on cards etc though)

Excellent skills! I've been using a scalpel craft knife to cut my stamps but must try carving blades soon - think I have some somewhere although I fear they are blunt... I'm still trying to get my written stamps looking smooth :)

+Asmi Anthony You could totally use the techniques I use in this tutorial to make a "Happy Birthday" stamp :) I'm not sure if it'd be worth it to make a brand new video just showing how to carve Happy Birthday instead. But if I come up with a different technique then I might make a new video for that :)
