Let's be honest....based on the corners manufacturers are cutting, no luxury cars are worth owning....A lot of ppl are saying Lexus but honestly speaking, Lexus is not what Lexus use to be interms of longevity....The old school Lexus models are outlasting the newer models.... None of them are worth keeping after warranty....None....NO LUXURY CAR IS WORTH KEEPING AFTER WARRANTY....NONE.....All of them are money pits. Just lease them or trade them in before the warranty fries.

I owned a 2015 Audi S4, and just recently sold it because I got hit by another driver. That car was bullet proof. NO issues at ALL. I picked up a 2019 Genesis G70, as a replacment and hoping for a similar experience. I have also owned 5 Acura MDXs (2005, 2012, 2014, 2015 and now 2019). I usually buy them off lease, and sell them when they around 80K/85K miles. Only had 2 issues, all related to the driver/passenger side mirrors. Other than that, just kept up with the scheduled maintenance on them.

It was fully loaded with every option and everything worked flawlessly. I sold it for a 2014 IS350 F sport, because I liked the newer look and this car has been equally as good. Owned 4 years a W212 (E350 AMG Ed.) from 2012 that has 150 000km on it. The only issues it has had was some faulty part in the ventilator and then the engine mounts were changed to new ones due to some slight vibration. As a former BMW order (I have had 5). I urge you to reconsider your recommendation of the BMW as a lasting car. The engines may be great, but they are surrounded by plastic parts and plastic covers that do not hold up. They become money pits. Yes, you can keep one for 5 to 10 years if you want to pay through the nose for parts, high labor charges, and a shortage of outside technicians who can repair one leaving you at the mercy of the dealership.

Very nice ride. My personal favorite is the W211 E55amg with the hand built 5.4 litre supercharged v8! The car stock is very capable even by today's standards, however with just a few minor upgrades this car can transform into an animal! Pretty incredible that with tuning, better cooling, and smaller pulley they make 600hp + from a car that came out in the early 2000's! This car used to be the very best bang for your buck cars out there! Not many cars can make that kinda power for under $20k unfortunately due to rising inflation they have gone up in price 😕 However they still remain one of my very favorite Mercedes amg 's of all time!

I bought a E350 coupe 2014 (i guess its a w212) used a year ago(20k$ canadian),less than 60k miles, fully equipped, new brakes and tires, the subaru dealer had it on the lot for too long as not everyone likes a coupe in canada, they even had to pay some additional$ to the tax as its lowest value was higher for the government). No rust good power, very quiet, love the airy feeling with the panoramic roof and pillarless windows. No issue yet, been super reliable till now. Other than usual maintenance the only money we've spent on it was a $300 out our pocket for a computer reboot, that's it. It's been a fantastic flawless reliable car for us for over 6 years now. It's a car that I still love now as much as the day I first drove it. Everytime I drive it I feel like I'm driving something special. I put a set of 5 spoke factory rims off of a 2008 CLS 550 on it & it made it look more agressive looking & kinda muscle car looking. The car is SO well planted in curves & general driving. I noticed this particular Lexus SUV had a see-through plastic A/C venting system for the people seated in the back for extra cold air but this was around 20 years ago so I'm not sure if they still have that strange contraption or not. Overall very informative video. Definitely agree with the B58 platform on the bmw's and toyota supra being a great engine! They're great engine to modify and can handle 700hp + on stock internals, thanks in part to closed deck design in regards to the engine block. One thing I would have to disagree on is the BMW n55 not being reliable. In my experience with the engine having owned one for almost 5 years now and having the first gen engine on the e90 which are considered not as reliable as later generations I would still say there a great engine and can make decent power stock and modified. Mine personally has been extremely reliable with only the water pump and thermostat needing to be replaced (well known issue) along with your normal wear and tear items. So all that being said I wouldn't count out the N55, you'll definitely be able to get one cheaper than a model with the B58. The most reliable years the engine was made was anything 2014 and newer, even if you were to go older it still would be a solid engine choice. Yes overall the B58 is better especially when it comes to modifying them but your going to pay for it! Just my 2 cents from personal experience and from seeing buddies with the b58 platform.

Expensive Euro car owners have to announce that their car has been reliable- yet Toyota, Lexus & Mazda owners just assume their cars will be reliable. Funny that apart from your single car; nationwide & even worldwide stats & experience of thousands of mechanics shows that many cheaper cars are more reliable.
Plus the Expensive Euro cars get pampered & babied more by buyers (esp 1st buyer) because they more often have a garage & office under cover carpark, plus happier to spend more for service and parts to maintain their precious new expensive car. The prestige brands know all of this & milk it accordingly. Mercs were special in the 50's- 70's but now are really just as disposable as other brands. A friend of mine who has a Merc was shocked at the price of a simple ring that surrounds the air vent; $500!!
Lexus overall stands way above Merc, BMW & Audi in providing genuine durable long lasting honest quality. The Toyota Production System is superior, providing superior results.
I have had 2 Mercs; a W126 & a Vito; both shocking with problems. Traded them for a Lexus SL400 (used from Japan) & a Toyota Hiace....both much better. My main car now is a Landcruiser 200 4WD; I did look at the Merc GLE SUV at the time but the super arrogant Merc salesman would hardly talk to me because I ride a bike there (a$10,000 carbon road bike mind you). Anyway car reports since then was that the Merc GLE proved to be terrible. The Landcruiser is super durable, statistically about the longest lasting vehicle, renowned for reliability, great resale. I see older Landcruisers for sale and with Govt roadworthy test certificates with 650,000km, one recently with 830,000km sold for $18,000; not as a collector car; but as a car to continue use. That is engineering .
The Toyota Production System (TPS) is studied internationally as an example of quality excellence.
Vs BMW advertising is studied as an example of excellent image marketing to "aspirational buyers" (also called Brainwashing). Similar applies to Merc "engineered like no other car".
I prefer buying from excellent quality Production (TPS) rather than excellent Marketing

I have a 2002 Lexus IS300 SportCross. Not only a rare vehicle but also a smooth gearbox, well balanced suspension and steering. And an engine that probably will outlast me. The BMW's and Audis probably handle a bit better, are a bit faster. But they do not give you the assurance, that in the morning, when turning the key everything will be fine.

Great car but lets not sugarcoat it. It has a bland suspension design and very soft dampers. The gearbox is just slow, nothing to do with smoothness. And the steering is just numb. Again, great car for comfort and slow drives. An Audi of that era will not really handle a lot better but its a lot more neutral. The 3 series of that era will blow both... A 6 straight 330i is a bit more annoying for mechanics to work on, and can be expensive, but its perfectly reliable and better at anything else. Theres no competition whatsoever. The balance of that 6L is godworthy. Properly mantained will outlast any Toyota V6 you can think of.

@@steven5509 the valve block can go bad, the air struts can go bad, the links attached to sensor/control are fricken plastic (genius idea) and can break especially if rusted. Good luck replacing those $350 each full assembly.
The whole air suspension system is a bunch of pieces that can all go bad. Then you got many other sensors that are cheap chinese manufactured plastics that will go bad. Already had to replace many (original cost a lot even though chinese). All electrical shit starts to fail.
The only good thing about the car is engine mine is a V8 5.5L and no issues there but everything else is so bad, problems after problems.
Coolant sensor went bad, had to replace full assembly parts $300 USD. Car wouldn't warm up properly so had to replace it. Steering wheel sensors went bad, can't even move it.
Both my rear links broke, $350 each to replace. I'm scared fronts will go bad too. Can leave you stranded, whole suspension droops down.
Brake lines rusted so easily and broke, had to replace them. There was a lawsuit case against Mercedez in canada about this but they said because not enough cars were involved, they couldn't charge Mercedez.
The refrigerant sensor also went bad and the fan started blasting at max speed on idle (it's LOUD). Had to replace that too.
Much more shit and the mileage on my car is 60,000km and model 2010 E550 V8.
