Good stuff! you should have more followers. White vinegar definitely works if you can give it some time to do its thing. To boost its effectiveness, I like mixing it with 3+% hydrogen peroxide and salt. Like half a cup hp with 4-5 tablespoon table salt (cheap iodized stuff) and 3-4 cup wv, shake it and then drink.....I mean pour it in. There is something oddly cool about dinged up, rusty look on a vintage bike, like it has been ridden and been thru some crazy adventures (and possibly abused along the way).
I’ll have to try that Hydrogen peroxide and salt mixture next time, first I’ve heard of that. And I agree about the dented and twisted up old bikes being cool. Most of my stuff looks like it was picked out of a scrap yard but does run well.
Glad I saw this video. I need to do this to my bike (for the third time) before I need to rebuild the carb again. I think I'll use the hydrogen peroxide/salt trick and see how well it works. Do you recommend some sealer afterward, such as Kreem or POR15, or just leave it bare? Thanks for the useful video!
Glad you found it useful. Using a sealer after removing the rust all depends on how bad the tank was rusted. If the metal is getting thin you might want to use kreem to get some integrity back into the tank. If metal is in good shape I always like leaving them bare and then keeping them topped off with fresh fuel and a stabilizer. Never had any issues with rust after using that technique.
Thanks for that info. My tank is in pretty good shape, so I'll probably leave it bare and keep it full like you recommend. Keep up the good work, and thank you again for replying.
This is becoming one of my top 5 channels. and sporties still rule , especially the kickers !!! Cheers !! Guy Speight ✊

Good info
Glad it was helpful!
good time to get that dent out
Thought about it, but it’s staying for now. The dent has become part of the bike.
I used gravel to remove rust once. Uh huh , just once !
Never tried gravel. Sounds like a party.
