@@MI2APatriot When I look at performance I go after the best defensive load i can find for my 9mm and ,40 which always keep in hand. But when I am in Alaska 7 months of every year I carry a Glock G20 and some good ole buffalo bore ammo. I agree a lot of the 10mm has been tamed down a bit. Which basically is a .40 makes more sense against 2 legged critters that shoot at you or break whatever laws. But I still think these little carbines are great with 9mm
.45 is the ideal caliber for a PCC. Works well with a short barrel but can gain from a longer barrel. 95% of ammunition is subsonic, so it makes for a perfect suppressor host. Decent power with light recoil. What's not too like?
@John5.56 no the .45 acp was designed to reach its full velocity out of a 5" barrel and it does. you don't gain much with a longer barrel. look it up .
Inside 100 yards the .45acp is a hammer. Super interested in this because I have back issues that while I can hold and shoot my traditional 16" AR, I can't hold it up very long. Standing and shooting it accurately is extremely difficult as well as extremely painful. I've been asking the gun gods for decades to give us a reliable, lightweight, affordable, accurate .45acp carbine (or pistol) that uses Glock magazines that we poors can afford. This, at first glance, looks like it may be what I've been looking for all these years.
Extar really caught my attention when they finally introduced the 45. Only thing slighlty holding me back is that I wish they could internalize their recoil system and get rid of they buffer so a folding stock can be used.
As far as a PCC load that has a very close ballistic trajectory to subsonic 300 Blackout, most 9mm FMJ 147gr loads out of a 10" to 16" barrel will mimic the trajectory very close. My hand load with a 147gr HC rnfp bullet is just under 1100 fps out of my 16" AR9. I use a scope that has a BDC reticle calibrated for 300 BLK. Works perfectly.
I’m glad you went back to doing videos on guns. Your talks were nice but I just couldn’t get into them all the time sorry keep the gun videos coming. I started out watching you because I wanted to find out about the Highpoint 9 mm what was the first pistol I bought and the torture test you did on it was amazing and then I bought my Mosin-Nagant and because of your video I decided to purchase a hectic on barrel. I keep up the great work..
Eric, get your chronograph out and compare the ballistics of .45 ACP with the .45 ACP+P. You could piggy-back 9mm with 9mm+P. That will be an interesting video!
bring back the long range shooting from the tower please! those were one of my favorites along with the meltdowns. thanks by the way for the recent meltdown. theres just nothing like shooting an old milsurp with iron sites out to 600 yds or farther! keep up the great work. viewer since day 1
I know I'm going to get crap for this , until i found the extar ep9 i was going to buy a hi point 9mm carbine, because of the affordability. This changed my mind . Right now the e45 is on back order , im getting both ,the 9mm and 45acp. Nothing but rave reviews, thanks. You just made the decision easy .
Being a huge fan of Extar that thing rocks! I was hoping they would make one in 10mm though also hoping and dreaming they would make a rifle caliber carbine again.
**Eric said that they don't sell necessarily to the distributors, **They sell to the public so you probably need to talk to a gun dealer, talk to them about being able to have it shipped through them to make it legal (and they will probably charge you an amount for having to have it shipped and do the paperwork on it), and then contact the company and buy it straight from them.
This 45 looks great but i plan on getting the extar EP9. They make great guns. I have seen people with the extar 556 and they haven't made that gun in like a decade. They really already had a 10mm version but it just never went into full production. Im glad to see them dipping into different calibers again.
This video reminded me that Aero Precision has the EPC pcc listed with a large frame version that has ceased to materialize and this seems to be a good gun for the price point and I wish there were more 10mm and .45 Auto pcc/sub guns, great work keep em coming
Interesting to watch the flow of the blowback gas; looks like a little deflector - kind of like the deflector on the replacement stock from High Tower for the Hi-Point carbines - would help keep it out of your eyes. It's just a little flared tab, but if it keeps the gas out of your face - and this is a self-defense weapon, so you don't need gas in your face when your life is on the line - then it's worth it. One other thought: +P? +P+? .45 Super? 450 SMC? Seems like, in particular, these higher-powered rounds would benefit significantly from the longer barrel. I'm sure, like always, if it is built to handle the pressure, the standard disclaimer of accelerated wear would apply - but it would be interesting to see some chronograph results - no?
About time extar getting love been telling these for years . Best out of box pcc compared to my scorpion mpx that being mpx and mpx only thing it does better is recoil and look prettier 😂
I'm curious about the design, how does the barrel and receiver connect and what is the long term longevity of a steel to polymer connection? Is there a steel or aluminum frame in the polymer? There has to be something or this wouldn't work. Can you please do a video showing that?
The bcg and barrel and hammer are metal but they have some sort of "space age" finish so your not supposed to lube the gun at all? The manual says do NOT use lube unless it's a tiny amount of dry lube but honestly you just need to wipe it down and it's good to go. The only thing that rusts is the screws on the handgaurd. I live in Florida within 15 minute drive of the ocean
I LOVE my Extar EP 9. It suits me perfectly. If I wanted, or needed to shoot supressed the .45ACP would be perfect. I hope they come out in 10mm, 30 Super Carry, 5.7 X 28, 357 Sig, 40 S&W etc..
Never thought about a pcc in 357 sig. That would make a smoking little urban truck gun. Would love to see some gel block testing with an 8 inch barrel.
This thing is awesome, I knew it would shoot the HP rounds. I would have like to seen inside of it. I wonder if this thing could be converted to cmmg radial delayed blowback? I like the price of this and I think it is a nice looking weapon. If they keep the price down I think they will sell a lot of these. If they get too popular the price may go up.
I’d like to see a video about shooting from a sitting position. Maybe even possibly a collaboration with a few TH-camrs try to maneuver a wheelchair and operating a gun at the same time. I’m a full full time paraplegic and could use some tips to sharpen my skills.
I graduated high school for gunsmithing with excellent grades and went on an internship at HSprodukt and now I've been unemployed for 3 months because I can't find a job as a gunsmith anywhere and I don't know what to do now

Only downsides to the 45 is it's ammo price over 9mm and the jolt from that heavy blowback bolt.
