    I was just thinking about all the stories of how under-powered .45acp is right when you explained the ballistics and history. I like the concept and .45 is easy to suppress too!

    What a great review of this pistol! I had never considered this pistol because I thought it was just another straight blow back AR-9 pistol with its characteristic heavy recoil. You did a great job of demonstrating its unique design as something different. I also love the fact that it has the ability to use a suppressor as .45 ACP is already sub-sonic. In regards to the price this is an outstanding value.

    I think I’m in love. Extar makes great PCC’s and this scratches that 45 acp itch with a larger diameter than say a 300BLK with subs does. They hit with about the same ft lbs but the 45 acp is a larger diameter with a shorter barrel.
    I’m compelled to purchase one.
    Some people buy candy as an impulse buy… bing bang boom sticks are my impulse buys. Extar has a great reputation too. It’s the Reese’s of impulse buys.

    Great vid Graham! Got a like and share from me! I am an Extar fanboy. I have bought 3. I sold 2 for profit, and currently have a tricked out gen 2 EP9. The EP45 may be the ideal gun for suppressor use. Also for those in mag limit states. If you can only have 10 round mags, it seems an excellent choice. I will get a 10mm as soon as it comes out. I would love to see the line keep expanding to 5.7, 22TCM, and even 30 Super Carry!
    But honestly, the EP9 is PERFECT for me. Mine has an Olight Sigurd AFG/light, SBA3 brace (For now.), Lead Star Arms Ravage muzzle break, and a Cain Arms thumb rest. Topped with a Hawke 12 145 large view reflex sight. It is loaded with Liberty Ammo 9mm+P Ultra-Lights. 50 grains at over 2100 fps.!!! From a kitted out 5 pound braced pistol with a loaded mag.
    The question is. Is it more effective than an 8.5 inch 5.56 AR from 0-50 yards? I think so!

    Honestly the biggest benefit of a 45 caliber PCC is that most standard 45 loads are already subsonic so it’s much quieter than standard velocity 9mm suppressed.

    great content awesome review: I am a huge fan of the EXTAR I do not have one but am a fan I plan on getting one in the near future. well I guess two now. however I would have rather have seen the EXTAR-45 with a 7.5" barrel or maybe even chambered in 10mm, but that is not a deal breaker, and coming from a nobody, who's opinion means nothing to anybody my opinion doesn't count.

      I recently replaced our VERY tired Canon Vixia HF G50 with the Vixia HF G70. They're essentially the same camera, but our G50 had filmed a couple thousand hours, been on tripods that blew over, frozen, etc etc. The servos in it were getting slow and focus would wander. I can't recall if I filmed this with the 50 or 70. The Avidity Arms video that posted this week used the 70 as the primary camera, 50 as the secondary and you can see a picture quality difference. Same sensors and camera abilities, just a difference of one being younger and the other worn out.

    I sold my gen 2 ep 9 after sending it back to extar to get double/triple firing fixed. They sent it back saying it was fixed but it wasn't. Even your ep9 gen 2 range video you had a double fire. I asked about it and got no response. I wish I never sold my 1st gen ep9 because it was amazing. I can't trust the gen 2 which is why is sold it. Can't spend the money for this 45 as much as I'm tempted to do so.

      Especially suppressed. I recently got my first suppressor, a 30 cal, and lately I've been regretting not getting a 45 or 46 cal so I could have a 45 cal pcc for home defense. As far as I know most self defense loads are subsonic in the caliber so it'd be perfect. TTUTT

    After watching and looking closer at an EP9 I noticed how much different the bolt and charging handle are between the EP9 and EP45. The EP9 does not have the huge fin on the bolt and the EP9 has a non-reciprocating charging handle--it is connected to piece of polymer that sit in front of the bolt but is not attached to the bolt. The charging handle on the EP9 does not need to be removed to pull out the bolt from the receiver. The charging handle on the EP45 is connected to the fin affixed on top of the bolt. I wonder due to additional blow back pressure from .45 ACP resulted in Extar needing to add more mass to the bolt on the EP45 thus they were unable to implement a non-reciprocating bolt on the EP45.
    What does your EP9 bolt weigh versus the E945 bolt?
    Will the folding charging handle from the EP45 fit in the EP9?
    The EP9 appears to have the same grip on it as the EP45 with Extar molded into the polymer. Version 2 of the EP9 originally still included a Glock mag and B5 System Mod 23 grip. Later Extar announced the release of their own in house magazines. I don't recall an announcement of switching to their own in house grip. I am fine with them moving parts in house if that allows them to keep the price down and maintain a high level of quality. I think many EP9 owners would be interested in buying a longer, folding charging handle.

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The folding charging handle could possibly put too much torque on the EP9's system. Yes the fin is part of adding mass to the bolt for the 45.
