    I also played through Elden Ring on my Steam Deck Oled completely in handheld mode.. It took me 226 hours until the Elden Beast fell. I'm currently prepping for the DLC and have about 260 hours and level 203. Just 2 days ago, I put together a docked setup with a 22" 1080p monitor. I'm running ER at high setings, no framerate limit, scaling at Fill, Scaling fillter at FSR and FSR sharpness at full(5). I'm getting framerates averaging in the 40's. (between 30-56). I used to play with 40fps limit with custom settings, but the default high setting looks and works great.
    I have the graphics/resolution properties of ER set to NATIVE and left the deck on it's normal 800p. 720p works well too. The FSR makes a HUGE difference docked. Anyways, I'm enjying playing docked with a controller(but I haven't managed to get controller rumble to work....tried a bunch of stuff but no luck yet. I'm not stressing the lack of rumble though.)
    (edited to add). Playing on a larger screen helped with some of the harder bosses and it's fun to explore the graphical details a bit more. Great game even though it gets infuriatingly brutal. I love it.

People talking about fps it never bothered me at all it was only fighting the fire giant that dropped it for me to notice. Gonna play the dlc on it too. Anyway, my first day with the Steam Deck was disastrous. I was so excited to play Elden Ring, but it was a rough start. I had an issue naming my character because the keyboard wouldn’t pop up, and after hours of searching the internet, I couldn’t find a fix. I eventually created my character on my PC and transferred the save to the Steam Deck, but then the game kept crashing the device! I was about to return it and grab an Ally X instead. But since I had a 15-day return window, I decided to give it a little more time.
      And I’m so glad I did! Elden Ring (eventually worked fine), Skyrim, the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, and now Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag all run wonderfully! The screen, battery life, speakers, and SteamOS have all impressed me, and I’m really glad I kept it!

    hey so i've gotten a steamdeck oled as soon as it was being sold (I even got a message telling me that i was one of the first users of the console so things might be buggy when i started it up for the first time.)
    I have tried playing games such as Star wars Jedi survivor and Elden ring, but for the former the game just keeps on crashing when i try to start playing the first mission. the games fps start to die down and then it just freezes up and wont do anything anymore. i've been told to use protons, so that's what i've been trying out. I've tried GE-Proton9-1, Proton Experimental and proton 9.0-2. Yet the issue remains.
    For the latter, I've just downloaded the game and tried to play a bit of it. I got to the npc that calls you maidenless, the whole run there, my frames were insanely low, so when i started fighting him, i just kept getting lower and lower frames. Then i started using protons again to maybe help it out, but that barely changed anything. I really looked forward to playing these two games, yet now i am disappointed that i literally cant do anything.
    Do you have any tips or tricks to help me fix these issues?

    • @StewdioGamer

      Sounds like you are having more issues that you should. Make sure your in game settings are on low and your performance settings are all at their maximum. i just got the steam deck and tried playing elden ring on it. within 5 mins i ran into 2 major problems. first, can't launch the game in online mode due to "inappropriate activity". second, can't bring up the on-screen keyboard in the character creator. literally a game-breaking bug at the beginning of a game which steam claims is "great on deck". i got the deck because i'm a busy person and thought it would be a great way for me to game more often but with the amount of tinkering you have to do to get even the basic stuff to work it's just not worth it. having major buyer's remorse right now.

    • @juicyaf9298
      @juicyaf9298 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can bring up the onscreen keyboard manually with Steam Button + X. You could also use a bluetooth keyboard or connect a wired keyboard via USB hub/dock.
      If you google "inappropriate activity elden ring steam deck" the first result will be a Reddit post of how to fix that bug and enable online play. Buying the DLC should also resolve it.

Trust me I used to have a 900p monitor you don't nowhere as much of the game on the screen as on a1080p screen. Beside steam deck is 800p just like a 4k screen fits more of the game into the viewing space than a 1440p monitor does. It's about pixel count. I believe 1080p is 2.2 million. But 800p is only 1 million pixels. IE huge difference. You might as well be saying 720p is the same as 1080p 😂

    On a Steamdeck Oled at 800p medium settings you can set it 34fps and it will be stable throughout and very nice and smooth. If you sacrifice resolution or settings it will be like playing a badly ported game on switch. The game is only demanding because fromsoft has terrible LOD for the whole game. Some assets are too high quality too far. Hopefully future game has better models to help with performance.
