    What got me into hifi was watching a midnight session of Jimi Hendrix in a cinema. The panning phased drums in Bold as Love sounded so great, I had to bring that sound home. This new range of speakers are the first I've seen that I think will get closest to that sound. Thanks

    I always get worked up and excited by the many GR-R product offerings, as each category has unique attributes. The open baffle offerings may be the closest to my audio heading, with Maggies in one system for the past 10 years. I get what Danny is talking about speakers that are fun to listen to... the "old school" 12" 3-way, would not be one to worry about heating voice coils, over extended power listening sessions (while testing high power / amplifier designs) even on a robust 8" 2-ways. My next sizable speaker investment .will. be a GR-R product. I am thinking H frame dual servo sub(s) would love to do push pull configuration. Saving my dollars...

      @craigellsworth3952 Diffraction, edge diffraction and baffle step are important issues, that need to be considered for cabinet and speaker baffle design. While some aspects of diffraction are more important than others, it is good to know them and act accordingly, depending on your project. Take a look at the white paper from kef on there Reference or blade speakers lots of time and research went into that design. Pretty cool stuff. PS Audio is having trouble with their floor standing speaker via their inclusion of internal subwoofers. In fact, they had to add a subwoofer in the listening room because they lost the lower octave due to in-room response cancellation. How is the phase relationship down in the lower levels handled in this speaker?

    • @ClassifiedBrief
      @ClassifiedBrief ปีที่แล้ว

      The servo amp has its own phase control so you can dial to your room as needed. The low end can do anything you want it to do. I have a stereo pair of triple 12" servo with my nx otica and the flexibility of bass is hugeeeseee

    • @Joshualbm
      @Joshualbm ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClassifiedBrief Yeah, but those triple 12" servo-subs are probably set up in the room where they are best suited to room effect and not directly under the main speakers. There is only so much you can do with controls. Setting up a pair of speakers for stereo imaging has its own set of tweaks and adjustments. The ultimate position, for the mains, however, may not be so for low bass.

    • @dannyrichie9743
      @dannyrichie9743 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The use of the phase control that is right on the amp isn't about the room response. It is about dialing in the correct time arrival to the MTM section right above it. The EQ system built into the amp will help with the room response. The level control and extension filters can be used to dial in the room response as well.

    That is a very wide front panel for the very tiny tweeter/mid speakers. Why not make it narrower for them?

      That would make the design a lot more complex. It would also give up sensitivity.

    It is great to see a full sized speaker system. What’s the possibility of designing a set as a trapezoid E.G. JBL Ti5000, with the near side towards the listener? This would minimize the box emanating unwanted noise due to the front baffle is reduced in space.

    Monster sweetspot;
    an active, high performance 12", supporting a sensitive, easy to drive MTM top.
    Well done!

    I made it all the way to 2:00 without having a Question for the expert.
    Why, if you made two boxes for the woofer and mid/high, do you slap them together into one?
    Is this your definition of "Old School?"
    Do all of these speakers perform better if seperated?
    I am a RTTI and MECP educated fan who has enjoyed your customization of commercially available products.
    Thank you.

      That was the old school way. Also, when separating the MTM in it's own cabinet then there is a baffle step loss to compensate for that in this case will knock about 4db of output from them. So this does increase sensitivity, and dynamics.

      They are both good choices, but one is a little more friendly to all applications.

    Hello. Since the bass is servo controlled if I didn't misunderstand, does the speaker have to have a processor that controls this? the speaker uses an active plate amplifier on bass?

    • @dannyrichie9743
      @dannyrichie9743 ปีที่แล้ว

      The woofer has its own amp that mounts on the back panel.
