    Thanks for Sharing and your review!
    We just uploaded a new version with most bugs fixed, and also added the ability to save your settings!
    Regarding the render loading times, most of it is streamed by Google, bur we'll look into improving this.

    Just downloaded and gave it a go. Google Earth is way better and more intuitive but this app does get the job done. It lacks street view and moving around is very clunky. For a start, "forward" seems to be fixed to be bound to forward in your play space, not bound to your head or hand. A workaround is to reset your orientation by holding the Oculus button. There also seems to be a 180º quick turn by pulling the stick back, this sometimes gets activated when you simply want to turn so it's very easy to get disorientated. The fact that "forwards" is not bound to the headset means that you can't workaround this by just turning with your head.
    So I can recommend it if you don't mind its rough edges but I guess that's why it's not a bonafide app on the app store and you have to get it through app lab.

    It looks more than a bit eerie, as if humans have been extinct for a thousand years, and the buildings have deterioated, and vehicles have melted. But looking from high up, the roadways and housing layouts etc are pretty exact.
    Obviously the Quest 2 hasn't got a superduper processor, but for a price of a pint it's good fun, and any further scope for improvements will be interesting. I aim to drop into every football ground in the UK's premiership, football league and Scottish grounds.
    Update: The detail around London is a lot better in some areas, and probably around the main cities in the UK? Dropped into West Ham, Spurs, and Millwall's grounds so far, not to forget Sunderland's where I live. So yeah, not bad atall. p.s Don't let the power go down too far, or it will say "Power Low" and the headset will immediately shut down!

    It would nice to have a instructional visual step by step how to install Google earth on my meta quest 2 without music. Someone actually explaining.

    • @BallsyVR
      @BallsyVR  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can't install actual Google Earth on the Quest 2 (or any Meta headset), you can only use apps like the one in this video which use the same map data. Go to this link and you can send the app shown in this video straight to your headset:

      It's been a while since I played it... it's not exactly like Google Earth, but it's probably the closest you'll get for now. If you're unimpressed you can always get a refund 👍🏻

    Altough it works, google earth is too massive for a stand alone headset that basically has the processor of a high end phone. vs a Dedicated PC VR that can be beefed up with high end Graphics cards, Ram, and CPU. the experience is worlds apart. it gives you a taste, but it doesn't let you have the entire meal.
    its like comparing 8bit graphics vs 32bit graphics.

    I have been using Google Earth VR on my Quest 2 for some time now, although that does require use of a gaming quality PC to run it through Steam VR. So I am assuming this does away with the need for the PC? And can you drop into Google Street View easily like you can with Google Earth VR?

    • @BallsyVR
      @BallsyVR  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You don't need a PC to use this, the downside though is that it takes a while to load...if by street view you mean the 360 degree photos, it doesn't do that, but you can go down to street level as shown in this video.

    • @colinmscott
      @colinmscott 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      OK thanks for the quick reply. It seems that Google Earth VR is still the best app in that case, even though it requires a decent PC to run it through. I also tried Wooorld ( is that the correct number of Os?), which I thought was very poor. My reference to Street View, you are correct. The Google Earth VR version of Street View allows you to drop in easily and puts you into the 360 image, from where you can "walk around" the area. Image quality is determined by whoever uploaded the image. The official Google images are pretty good but those that have been uploaded by the general public vary enormously in quality. I am guessing you haven't tried Google Earth VR? I strongly recommend that you do so because most of the failings you highlight in your review do not occur in Google Earth VR. The only exception being the poor image quality you see at ground level. I don't know if Google is still working on improving its efforts with turning the planet into a 3D model, but I sincerely hope they are. The fact that the Google Earth VR app is free strikes me as quite remarkable, in comparison to many other VR apps. Wooorld, for example, isn't free and is nowhere near as good. I gather the AnyWR app has to be paid for too? I can only see it being worthwhile if you don't have a suitable PC for running Google Earth VR.

    • @BallsyVR
      @BallsyVR  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for the detailed reply! I would LOVE to try Google Earth VR, but unfortunately my laptop is about as powerful as a slice of bread, so it's out of the question sadly!

    • @colinmscott
      @colinmscott 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be fair, the Google Earth VR app is seemingly just a combination of AnyWR and Wander. If you can imagine using both of those simultaneously, that's Google Earth VR.

    • @colinmscott
      @colinmscott 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I might well be late to the party, I usually am, but I have just become aware of another very similar app called EarthQuest. This is also an app that uses Google Earth images, but appears to be some kind of game. I haven't tried it yet but I probably will at some stage. It costs £3.99, which seems reasonable. The blurb says there is a solo mode so you can explore on your own, and also has Street View integrated into it. So maybe this the equivalent of Google Earth VR without the decent PC requirement.
