The gen 2 games were really rushed, which is why they wanted to salvage so much in the gen 4 remakes. I.e cerulean cave being inacessible, no safari zone, kanto not really being challenging, etc
@@eightcoins4401 nahhh I think it was just more a case of Kanto being a last minute addition which already was only possible due to some RAM manipulation wizardry from Iwata, so yeah a bit bare bones but understandably so. Johto felt very much complete to me
@@wavvy94both wrong… iwata made the game slightly faster while compromising on space, kanto had to be butchered so it could all fit inside of a cartridge that was only double the size of red and blue and it also wasn’t rushed or a last minute decision
Apparently, everything in the Kanto games got replaced by their Johto equivalents in the original Generation II games. In the remakes, almost everything from Red, Blue, and Yellow returns.
Soul silver music is beautiful. The only problem is that those who played pkm gen 2, 3 or 4 as their first games will never experience creepy moments because Viridian forest and lavender town themes got happier gen after gen.
Well actually gen 3 was more faithful to the original unlike gen 2 which was it's own thing. Same thing applies to gen 7. In fact, most songs from hgss take from the original gen 2 version, so really, the vibe is the same. Pewter city is a good example. This does not apply to songs that weren't in gen 2, though such as Cerulean City/Fuschia City (former used viridian/pewter/saffron, latter used Celadon) or cinnabar island. Mt. Moon's/Rock Tunnel's theme originally only included the intro. 2:19
POV: I made the Video Bcz I love the Johto Viridian Forest OST, lmao!
Edit: Shoutout to Wolfey VGC's editor for mentioning me in his Video!!! 🥺
Imagine if HGSS were "faithful" remakes like BDSP. Thank goodness the developers actually put in some effort for the remakes.
Pokémon heartgold/soulsilver the greatest remake of all times
Lmao hoth of those remakes are good. The pokewalker is infinitely better than any other add on they tried to implement
@@sweettea5166bdsp are arguably the worst games in the series and id be embarrassed to have my name attached to them.
I always laugh when I think about how gen 2 viridian forest got nerfed into absolute fuck
True that but heartgold and soulsilver nailed it!!

Gen 1 forest theme: *Creepy shit intensifies*
Gen 4 Forest Theme: *Jolly adventure shit*
Same shit with Lavender Town
