Hello love the video but I got a question my motor only has 1 Solid green wire I hooked it up the three harness the only other green wire I have on the motor is a gree and white stripped wire does that go to the coil wire for the spark plug or do I split the solid green wire into 2 ways for them both thank you I appreciate the help
A tachometer would need to be hooked to the coil or spark plug wire, this plug wouldn’t register RPM’s. I have a video on the neutral switch and how each wire works.
Hey Mike, the coil can still be bolted to the frame correct ? What you said was that because the coil had the 2 wires running from it, one being the green wire that it is already grounded. I just want to confirm that by bolting the coil back up to the intended spot on the frame will not be shorting it or messing anything up right ?
Watching this at work, my coil that runs to spark plug is a green prong and yellow prong but the wires are the same in video just got a different spark wire but it's a lifan 125cc hopefully this works

How do you check the cam chain I bought this exact motor and it has zero compression! How do check the chain I took the valve cover off and the cam shaft doesn't move when kicked over
There is a 10mm bolt beside the spark plug. Take out that bolt and you can remove the round cover on the opposite side. Behind that cover is cam gear and chain.

Nice video, I saw the spark. This was very informative* thank you. All I had to do was watch this one time and I know what to do now. I get some of my education from TH-cam so thanks lol I am about to order the semiauto version because I ordered a jocky shifter for it. I am making a 125cc 4 stroke 4spd cafe chopper bobber bicycle out of a micargi vancouver. I was debating on the 150cc version but meh it is manual and with a jocky shifter Idw to have to worry about the clutch bc then it'll technically be a suicide shifter instead of a jocky shifter so I'll be alright with the 125cc just with aftermarket carburetor, exhaust, sprocket, and throttle cable. And the 150cc manual is really like 20mph more for like 140 more bucks. I think 50-65 on a bicycle is prolly fast enough and 80 might be a little too fast. I thought about it tho but 125cc will be just fine because I am lazy but I like to shift too so the semiauto will allow me to be somewhat lazy and still get to shift. Plus I like that semiauto is N1234 and not 1N234 maybe that's my laziness speaking for me. Weird tho how the 150cc weighs 38lbs and the 125cc weighs 50lbs lol.

Is this a brand new engine? You’ll need to pull the flywheel cover and physically check where each of your wires goes. The pickup sensor is typically the blue/white wire. The red/black goes to the stator coil. There is usually a green ground wire. Pull your cover and possibly the flywheel and let me know how yours is wired. Anytime you install a Lifan, I recommend removing the entire original harness and install a 12v harness designed to work with the Lifan engine. Trail Buddy sells a couple different harnesses, depending on if you need turn signal wiring.
Those are your stator wires. They are part of a plate that is behind the flywheel. They are replaceable, you can purchase an entire stator plate that bolts right into place. It’s a fairly easy swap. Pull the flywheel…..remove the two screws that hold the plate on…..install the new plate/wires and reinstall the flywheel.
Hey mike could you tell me what size bolts and thread they are for holding the engine to the stand? And do you sell those engine stands and for how much shipped? Thanks
Honda used M8x1.25 bolts. I believe the top bolt is 120mm long and the bottom is 115mm. 5/16” SAE bolts will work in a pinch, just a tad sloppy. At this time, I’m too busy working full time to build any more stands. Sorry.

What engine do you have and how many wires are coming out of the engine? What color is each wire?
Can you please make a video how to connect the green connector (10:40) to a gear indicator or tachometer?
A tachometer would need to be hooked to the coil or spark plug wire, this plug wouldn’t register RPM’s. I have a video on the neutral switch and how each wire works.
What a good video I don’t get y the cdi box plugs into the gear box thing..

Yeah, the 90cc bikes used a different engine mounting pattern.
So i have this zongshen 125 and the motor has 2 wire leads one is only for the cdi and the other has 5 wires. How this style of harness apply on this situation?
What you’re calling the lead for the CDI is most likely a gear indicator harness. Ignore that harness and use the setup I have in this video.

I’ve used 50+ of them, never a problem with any of them.

I am about to order the semiauto version because I ordered a jocky shifter for it.
Sounds like a fun project and you’ve given it some thought. Would love to see pics of the finished bike. I’ve thought about doing the same, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Mike do you have any long term reviews on these engines? I have one and she’s being a pain!
@@DegenerateFabricators I guess I’ve been lucky, but I’ve never had an issue with an engine…..and I’ve used 60+ of them. My red Honda S65 passed 8000 miles on its Lifan engine, during the Lake Michigan ride. All I’ve ever done is regular oil changes. I have a few other with 3000 to 5000 miles on them. I recently put a brand new Lifan engine in a ST90 and rode it 1200 miles without issues. I have two friends that put Lifan’s in Honda C90’s in 2014. They rode 13,000 miles, circling part of the perimeter of the U.S. Yes, there will be the occasional bad apple of the bunch, but I’m of the opinion that these engines are extremely reliable.
Hi,
Do you know if my Honda c90 side caseings will fit on that engine?

I do not know, but would be highly surprised, if they did.
hi my friend my chinese motor has two same yellow wires for charging and lights but my bike has yellow and white wires how will i know which goes to white? its the same ?
Your engine has a different type of stator than the one in my video. Take one of the engine yellows and connect it to a ground source. The other yellow connects together with the yellow and white on bike.
Great video with tons of useful information! No doubt you are a Lifan fan, but what about Zongshen? Looking for the most dependable engine. How many miles can one expect to get from a stock Lifan engine?
I don’t have any experience with Zongshen, so no help there. Regular oil changes and maintenance, you should see 10,000+ miles from a Lifan.
Hi friends. Can anyone please post a link to the shifter indicator ? I purchased one online but it came with 2 connectors attached, both of which did not fit the green plug. Thanks!!
Hey mike I was wondering if you might know if one of these Lifan 125s would fit in a 1969 cl125? My original motor is seized beyond repair and I’m looking for a cheap alternative since it’s not a resto project

Anytime you install a Lifan, I recommend removing the entire original harness and install a 12v harness designed to work with the Lifan engine. Trail Buddy sells a couple different harnesses, depending on if you need turn signal wiring.
Thank u buddy

Whats the wires/part called coming out of the engine and can you replace them or do you have to get a new engine
Those are your stator wires. They are part of a plate that is behind the flywheel. They are replaceable, you can purchase an entire stator plate that bolts right into place. It’s a fairly easy swap.
