The level contrast theme is strong. Technology + Nature Desert + Ice Food, that is not eatable/not natural A city where the workers is not busy? (Sitting around, playing, just walking slowly?) Not sure about the last one... but still… interesting.
Might be the case, but if they wanted that contrast they probably could have made it a bit more extreme/larger... and in the other levels it's more than just the characters that creates the contrast... and the clothing is not thaat far off in time from a city like that? :) I think the whole city gives of a feeling of being relaxed, as there are such few cars and such as well.. but I agree that I don't have a strong case for it. That level theme is still kind of a mystery to me in this regard ^^; ... one can wonder if the construction stuff can be part of it's contrast? Though it's more likely just there to motivate platforming and for the DK theme :D
Amar Singh so many things were spot on (most impressive was probably figuring out there might be a dinosaur in the deep woods) and others were way off (like the idea of starting the game in New Donk). Definitely interesting looking back!

I'm almost ashamed to say I'm even more hyped for this game than Breath of the Wild. But then again, I've been a Mario fan all my life and only recently got into Zelda.
My friend discussed a theory with me, thought I should post it since it's really interesting. In the Greek myth of the Odyssey, Odysseus leaves to go to war, leaving his wife at home, where a bunch of suitors compete for her. This might tie in to Bowser's wedding motif, as well as those dapper Rabbits. There might even be more connections to the Odyssey if you look closer.
Very hyped. To the person above me, lmao, no, other than being an open world 3D platformer with one city level which probably isn't even a hub in this case. It's not at all like that. By your logic, 3D Land and 3D World are like the Sega Saturn game Bug! or another shitty 2.5D platformer.
My theory about the underground section in the desert area is that, at night when the pyramid lifts into the sky, it reveals a hole that leads to the underground section. I personally thought that that bit was obvious.
Also, you didn't talk about how Mario gains speed when both running and rolling down hill or how Mario's jump doesn't seem to be as stiff as it usually is in the 3D games, aside from 3D Land and World. Just a few extra and neat details.
They sure were stiff; you couldn't change the direction Mario was headed once off the ground. In 3D Land and World, however, you can change your heading while in air. You can see this behavior in the scene at the mechanical part of the forest, when Mario jumps on a Piranha Plant and immediately changes direction while in the air.
I would be nice if they left something in for him, like a picture, or wanted sign. something to give the creative fellow, some remembrance, in one of his most crucial game series
I mean, it's practically a given no-brainer that ANY Mario games will have more than 4 levels/worlds -- 6-8 levels at the bare minimum at least (like in the Paper Mario series). Since Odyssey is the next big Mario title on the newest Nintendo Console it would be likely over 50+ levels or worlds like Galaxy, Sunshine, and Mario64.
I'm hoping for at least 20. I feel like any lower than 10 wouldn't have much replay value, or point to the suggested cap mechanics. I'm slightly terrified and hope this is just a teaser, as they did say the game was practically finished (iirc) There are definitely more than 4 levels though. There's absolutely no way Nintendo would reveal everything in a trailer, or even half of the levels in the game in a trailer. I don't think Nintendo ever did that before. But if there really are only 10 levels, they better at least take an hour each or something. It's common that Mario games don't really take long to beat.

Its not just a reference to the Gamecube codename, the whole game takes place on a dolphin shaped island called Isle Delfino so it'd be a reference to Super Mario Sunshine more than anything
To me, the Kogwald forest world is the one the fascinates me the most, with its strange blend of natural and mechanical elements. It reminds me of the city of Laputa from Castle in the Sky. I can't wait to explore it for myself.

In my opinion, the wing cap controlled like ass. It was way too hard to gain any actual height out of the thing. If they do bring it back, it'll need to control a hell of a lot better.
Nice job covering everything. Though I just wanted to point out a few things I noticed. 1) I'm pretty sure the purple objects in the food world are blueberries as they top of the one you pointed out in one clip seemed to have the common design used for cartoon blueberries being that of a spiked top. 2) Could Peach's own crown have something important to do with the story, beyond that of Bowser giving it to her for a wedding? It could be the way for her to stay on the ship or control her heart power as she could easily jump off the ship and use her heart power to float to safety. Even more so as Bowser isn't holding her all the time and no one seems to be guarding her. It could also be something more important. 3) Could the rabbits be shapeshifters? If the hat theory is right, the hats could be rabbits shifted into hats which could explain why Bowser's and Mario's hats come back to them. This could also mean that Mario lost his hat and the rabbit replaced it. Rabbits do seem to be common forms of those who change like that like the Lumas from Galaxy who would change into rabbits so you could chase them. Keep up the good work, GameXplain rules!
Seeing as how Nintendo likes to implement accidents as actual things in games (ex. Weird Mario, Double Cherry) Perhaps someone accidentally hit a setting that made all the fruit look polygonal, and they thought "Hey, that looks pretty cool."
It's a great possibility that King K Rool will return, Nintendo for years did not show anything related to king k rool, I'm really happy to see that mention K.Rool in the trailer for super Mario odyssey
But that's nothing like what we're talking about. Samus' Morph Ball is a maneuver for navigating small spaces and corridors Samus can't normally get into. The roll seen in Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Odyssey works by gaining momentum from slopes and whatnot, something Samus and Kirby have never been able to do as balls, hence the comparison. While Samus may have done it first, that doesn't make her more well known for it.
I understand people like to click to dislike version for fun, but not on this video. Andre put a hell of a lot of time and effort into this so to dislike this is just rude
The chronological order you pieced out of the moon phases is wrong. Had the transition scene and the night desert scene happened after the full moon, the lit part of the moon would have been on the left (unless you're suggesting it's during a different cycle, but I can't see why that would be the case). Just to be clear - the rest of the analysis is jaw droppingly in depth and interesting.
If you have to fight 1 rabbit per level maybe that can explain the thing with the different colors of the checkpoints poles. The yellow in NDC, the green in the dessert, the blue in the forest and purple in the volcano
Cevan yeah, he doesn't want to spoil the game for himself by tearing the trailer-which he loves-apart. Also, with the mario odyssey analysis taking this long, a breath of the wild analysis would take him till the game comes out. So to answer your question, yes, it's cause the game comes out next month XD
Chances are Nintendo will be sending Andre a review copy of Breath of the Wild in the coming weeks. If that happens, doing an analysis would be pointless as he would know everything-or at least a LOT of things-about the game prior to its release.

Maybe the theme of this game is an environment, like a desert, but then has things you don't expect there. In the desert, you have ice. In the jungle, you have metal and robots. And then there is the city with real humans, and Mario is there.

I freaking need a new trailer of this mesmerizing game, like, I need it just to see the very start of it, and how Mario will enter this human world etc... your analysis of the trailer is extremely exhaustive and clever, the most surprising is every detail matters a lot, hats off ! I've never been so impatient for a game all my tiny entire life. And for me, putting the game at the end of the year is too long and quite inadequate. We all see that it is almost 100% finished, and also waiting for the E3 to see more while the game can be published earlier (I'm pretty sure about that), this is not really nice of Nintendo. At the mid of the year, it would be much more appropriate. Making fans wait, just because they have nothing big enough for Christmas where the sells are really important... it's way too frustrating. Well, I'm not gonna die, but we always wait too long for Nintendo games and yet, we shoudn't.

New Donk City is a Donkey Kong themed city - someone you'd expect to find in a jungle (thus making it a "concrete jungle").
The city is cartoon and a realistic environment.

Its not just a reference to the Gamecube codename, the whole game takes place on a dolphin shaped island called Isle Delfino so it'd be a reference to Super Mario Sunshine more than anything
To me, the Kogwald forest world is the one the fascinates me the most, with its strange blend of natural and mechanical elements. It reminds me of the city of Laputa from Castle in the Sky. I can't wait to explore it for myself.

In my opinion, the wing cap controlled like ass. It was way too hard to gain any actual height out of the thing. If they do bring it back, it'll need to control a hell of a lot better.

Nice job covering everything. Though I just wanted to point out a few things I noticed.
1) I'm pretty sure the purple objects in the food world are blueberries as they top of the one you pointed out in one clip seemed to have the common design used for cartoon blueberries being that of a spiked top.
2) Could Peach's own crown have something important to do with the story, beyond that of Bowser giving it to her for a wedding? It could be the way for her to stay on the ship or control her heart power as she could easily jump off the ship and use her heart power to float to safety. Even more so as Bowser isn't holding her all the time and no one seems to be guarding her. It could also be something more important.
3) Could the rabbits be shapeshifters? If the hat theory is right, the hats could be rabbits shifted into hats which could explain why Bowser's and Mario's hats come back to them. This could also mean that Mario lost his hat and the rabbit replaced it. Rabbits do seem to be common forms of those who change like that like the Lumas from Galaxy who would change into rabbits so you could chase them.

But that's nothing like what we're talking about. Samus' Morph Ball is a maneuver for navigating small spaces and corridors Samus can't normally get into. The roll seen in Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Odyssey works by gaining momentum from slopes and whatnot, something Samus and Kirby have never been able to do as balls, hence the comparison. While Samus may have done it first, that doesn't make her more well known for it.

The chronological order you pieced out of the moon phases is wrong. Had the transition scene and the night desert scene happened after the full moon, the lit part of the moon would have been on the left (unless you're suggesting it's during a different cycle, but I can't see why that would be the case).
Just to be clear - the rest of the analysis is jaw droppingly in depth and interesting.
If you have to fight 1 rabbit per level maybe that can explain the thing with the different colors of the checkpoints poles. The yellow in NDC, the green in the dessert, the blue in the forest and purple in the volcano

Chances are Nintendo will be sending Andre a review copy of Breath of the Wild in the coming weeks. If that happens, doing an analysis would be pointless as he would know everything-or at least a LOT of things-about the game prior to its release.

Maybe the theme of this game is an environment, like a desert, but then has things you don't expect there. In the desert, you have ice. In the jungle, you have metal and robots. And then there is the city with real humans, and Mario is there.

I freaking need a new trailer of this mesmerizing game, like, I need it just to see the very start of it, and how Mario will enter this human world etc... your analysis of the trailer is extremely exhaustive and clever, the most surprising is every detail matters a lot, hats off !
I've never been so impatient for a game all my tiny entire life. And for me, putting the game at the end of the year is too long and quite inadequate. We all see that it is almost 100% finished, and also waiting for the E3 to see more while the game can be published earlier (I'm pretty sure about that), this is not really nice of Nintendo. At the mid of the year, it would be much more appropriate. Making fans wait, just because they have nothing big enough for Christmas where the sells are really important... it's way too frustrating.
Well, I'm not gonna die, but we always wait too long for Nintendo games and yet, we shoudn't.
