I can´t find a single fault in your argumentation, I agree with everything. It´s especially sad to see how little AI has advanced over the last decade (not at all)
+therainbowpigs exactly. for some reason mack always acts like his opinions are facts, and thus his argumentation becomes grounded in å false statement. the worst thing is everyone in the comments who completely overlook this and just jerk off to mack's "logic" enjoy your content, mack, but you are wrong in this.
+therainbowpigs OFC I do, I say this loads of times in my reviews and I totally accept that mad Max is not for everyone just like I accept the fact that MGSV is a great game in some peoples mind. If you watch the end of my Witcher 3 review I say it again. I play pretty much every big game and I know that Mad Max is better than the vast majority of AAA games that has been released this year yet it got slated and it was released the same day as MGSV, it's not rocket science. Did you know the Steam page for Mad Max was mostly negative for the first few days as it got an influx of bad reviews, now look at it. I am telling you something went on with all of that bullshit as it's a great game.
Today's devs try to include way too much things. They only go for simplicity when it comes to the ui design/animations/and the system of how the player can input into the game. Games are like a type of food, they must all be different in order to be interesting, nobody wants to eat the same food for years. Lately we have been forced to eat mixed food, and on the top of that we are forced to use inappropriate tools to eat it with, that is for the way you play the game. Old games had the input system done properly, then graphics and sound effects were placed so they merged together into one game, nowadays all games are the same mixture, same sounds, same effects, same everything. It's like everybody goes so far to include lots of content, but they mess up the tools you can eat the food with, so you cant eat it right. Damn, not sure how to explain myself here :F
The gaming industry is an absolute joke atm, too much greed in the form of early access, pre orders, micro transactions and downloadable content. Early access can be a good thing but a majority of developers stop developing their games once early access sales slow down, there are exceptions but not many.
+Ettick Madison Lol do you really believe CDP released those dlc for free? That was PR stunt they cut that from their game to release it later on steam and gog just to gain more exposure and popularity. Those free dlcs wasn't even that good (haircuts looking like made of turd) or long either (>1h long mission) as for example bethesdas dlcs or even premium for bf3/bf4 which gave you shitloads of content for like 20euros. Maybe i should became blind fanboy and stop noticing those PR stuns by plenty of game devs?
+H4WK69 tbh gaming might die because of this shite. it's disgusting to see fucking money grabs nowadays with bullshit DLCs and season passes. greed in game devs is a spreading disease and they will burn a huge hole in wallets within the next few years
this shit is so true. its what annoys the most of us who actually know what they are playing/buying. A thing that comes to thought is that people are getting paid to say good things about the game. but in that case, they wont come to Mack because he will just be honest about the game and that is not what the dev's want. how crooked is that?? If I was a game developer, Mack would be one of the first guys to call for a review. Why? he gives an honest opinion, and that is something I as a developer would be able to work with and improve upon. but no, nowadays people are afraid to work for their money. everything must be as easy as possible and require the minimum effort possible. Great vid Mack, im on the edge of my seat for part 2
Mack Im shocked and amazed that I found a channel that realizes that gaming companies dont make money off of genuinely fun, interesting, intricate and immersive games but instead get money from hype. You actually acknowledge the fact that despite having all of the advances in technology and having all this money to spend that games are actually degrading on a technical standpoint instead of improving AAA Games now only profit on selling hype to a never ending stream of children (and diehard fans) who dont know better and the worst part is that its the same simple trick every single time They come out with these big announcement trailers with CGI animation that wont be in the game. They do things that you cant do in the game and promise mechanics that wont be in the game. Then they set the release date months/years after so that the imagination does the work for you. "Oh my goodness look how amazing that thing in the trailer was, I cant fucking wait until its released so i can buy it day one for 60-80$ Plus any Day 1 Dlc that comes with it instead of waiting a few months for a price drop" And if straight up lying in trailers wasn't bad enough, They then release the game in "Beta/Alpha Testing" so that they have a safety net for when anyone tells them how shite their game is. "Its just a Beta, so it cant be bad. Dont worry when it fully comes out of beta it will be like a whole new game" People eat it up every single time and i dont know how they keep getting away with it. When I was a kid I was so excited for the future of video games and the endless possibilities that could be achieved in the budding medium. Even into my early 20s i would bring over a game of Burnout 3 and a couple of friends and have a fucking amazing time drinking and crashing into shit but i just cant do that anymore. These games are just plain boring and bland. Now if I were to come to a friends house to try and play games it would be 30 mins of painful awkwardness followed by the question of "Why are we doing this again"? You have the entire universe of infinite settings and scenarios and situations that you simply cant experience in real life and yet here we are exploring empty desert #202 in this tasteless, uninspired, open world shooter and im fucking sick of it. I want my fucking hobby back to what it was. Sellin games on the creativity and enjoyment you got from it instead of making quick millions on the excitement of eager kids that are armed with their parents wallets Mack i love the videos you put out and even if i dont agree with some of your opinions at least you have them. keep making videos that help people break free of the hype spell this industry has people under.
+Blibity BlobE "...im fucking sick of it. I want my fucking hobby back to what it was." Amen to the entire comment, yet this particular passage simply knocks it out of the park! Been playing Battlezone the entire saturday and M.A.X. the entire sunday, however, I can not remember the last time I spent more than an hour or two at a time in a more recent game. Even had to literally force myself to finish Dead Space 2 with its ridiculous, dull, boring and repetitive gameplay. Sometimes I wonder if it is me that has changed so much, but then I load up a classic and am immediately immersed and enjoy playing it. It is in these moments when I realize that it is not me, but the entire industry that now caters large chunks of shit to a horde of bloody brainless consumer fucktards with no taste or standards, and I simply suffer alongside as I don't matter in the large scheme of things.
BTW the reason part 2 is not out yet is because getting the proper game footage is not as easy as I thought :) Am having to rely on Guys sending bits in to me. Once I have it all I will release part 2.
+Worth A Buy You opened my eyes to the failure that is MGS: V. I was looking at the new Total War: Warhammer game and every video I watch highlighted the same features in almost the same words. Different tubers and all that, but they all are reading from the same script. Like they aren't even trying to hide it anymore.
+Worth A Buy I think you should check and do WaB of Vermintide - pretty cool, and hard as fuck (especially at nightmare difficulty and above) coop game where you play as characters (5 to pick from) from warhammer fantasy universe vs bunch of rats. Ai is pretty good - common rat waves will flank you all the time, there are special rats which have to be dealt (just like in l4d, if they catch you, someone have to rescue you) with help of your teammates. Game also has RNG loot if you finish the game game drop you new weapon or trinket (with stats) or super rare hat. You can increase your loot chance by picking Tomes (each tome give chance for dices) and Grimoires (reduce your health to 50% and 2nd gnomoire carried by 2nd person reduce whole team's health to 25%, also if carrier dies you lose both grimoire and better dices). Vermintide is really intresting but i'm kinda bored after i played 50+h of 3 betas and now 23h of preorder beta. But it's worth a try.
+Worth A Buy Dude u shall review Angels fall first just try it, i ve seen some gameplays and i rlly wanna know ur opinion ab this game, in my opinion is a pretty good game and it starts to grow up.
Im an old fart gamer. Never do early access, will never pre-purchase a game, dont buy any game containing loot boxes. Will not support a studio/publisher who make games containing loot boxes. I always read or listen to reviews before i make any descision on a purchase. Sure I may be behind the curve with many games, but patience is a virtue. Good work worth a buy. Keep it up.
It's finally here! I've been checking YT every day for 2 weeks hoping to see this in the sub box! *starts playing the ad and goes to put the kettle on*
The AI in Half-Life 1 is breakthrough indeed but there was also a bit of hype. It really is just a few lines of code and voiced dialogue lines. The marines in HL1 don't really use cover that much but it's still amazing how it's so much better than newer games, though.
Brilliant. Riveting. You two should do this more often. There needs to be more voices that spread the truth about the state of the gaming industry today. You've got more than enough experience, so let them have it. Full fuego! (I'll be waiting for the next one, I'm sure it'll be great! :D)
The issue with the Mad Max game, in my opinion, is more about the fact that we've already seen that style of gameplay in, at least, 4 other game franchises. And while I love the Mad Max universe, the game just brings very little of anything new to the table. I still believe that the game deserves a 7/10, for being a very well running, and fine looking game, and if I hadn't played all these other games, that Mad Max copies, I'd probably rate it 8 or even 9/10. You're spot on about many other subjects, though, like early access, which I've grown to hate over the last few years.
I'm doubly pleased that you and Mesh are doing a video together. You guys make fantastic videos when you're doing them solo, but I love the videos that you do in collaboration.
I really want to know were trading standards comes into games.. you pay £50 for half a game that you need to pay £20-£30 for a DLC on the day of release of the game!!! That should be the full game.. cutting games in half to make as much money as they can.. if you are going to release half a game it should be £20 not £50!
EA and Ubisoft have all lost my future business Bohemia is not far behind. Best thing to do if your unsatisfied with a business's practices don't support them. I abandoned my entire ubisoft/origin catalog. if they keep pleasing the investors over clients soon they will be left with nothing.
It's SO good to hear you 2 back together again after all these years and how natural you sound together, I miss the old MackandMesh days with Doom3 plays throughs on a CRT monitor with the old M$ inteli mouse. This channel especially is starting to really shine with a no bullshit approach to game reviews which is sorely lacking today.
Game descriptions: This is why the lies The descriptive terms that you are referring to in the games description text are called "Keywords" by Google. Steam refers to these terms as "Tags" (same difference). The more tags/buzzwords (game type buzzwords) the developer uses in their description, the more genres your game will appear within. The more genres the developer matches with, more members of the steam community will be suggested the game. These tags/buzzwords then match up with the Steam suggestions. If the customer often plays "open world" games, then steam tags you with that tag and "open world" games will be suggested to you in the store screen when you open steam. Sales is all about exposure (the law of averages), the more people that see the product, the more chance that one of those people will buy the product. See the steam Tags knowledge page to see more: store.steampowered.com/tag/browse/#recommended_3942 Popular tags store.steampowered.com/tag/browse/#global_19
The gaming industry needs a kick in the ass, that's a definite, we complained back in the N64 era that games were TOO expensive at £60, and you could argue we were ripped off then too but and big but here, we got WHOLE GAMES, games went in console, console was switched on, controller was picked up and off you went, simple, unlike now
Good early access examples (to me): Kerbal Space Program (now released), Prison Architect (now released) and Starbound (still in early access, but gets updated a lot and frequent).
Oh man, this is just great. Mack and Mesh together in a video bringing us fans great laughs like they did more than a decade ago. Looking forward for more vids with Mesh, you guys are the voice of truth in the gaming world!
A example for a good early access idea is "Move or Die" (no advert). The dev priced the early access game higher then the full game will be, so only people who want to help with the game buy it. That way you get a dedicated small group of people that really are insterested and help with the game, which is the point in early access. Also, this game comes out in January next Year, and it just went in early access January THIS year, that time in e-a is very good for games this age...
+Anu8ius Total Annihilation did the exact same thing because they tried to give those who buy in a feeling of prestige. The game itself was mediocre at best, yet it must've payed off. Since it got out of early access they threw it on sale regularly and the reviews are full of disappointed customers. It was just another approach to grab as much cash as possible before they came up with this half-arsed product on release, pretty similar to The Elder Scrolls Online.
+Kerfilicious They should start making deadlines. For example, the dev needs to say when the game should be finished, if it doesn't hit the date, all the people who bought early access get their money back. I know that can't be the solution, but at least that would prevent greedy people from "stealing" money...
Galbrain Solves nothing. They'd throw it out in the state at that particular date and promise to "keep working" to further improve the "experience". ^^ Also, usually the "words from the developers" are put together carefully enough that suing them is not an option as it's all about interpretation of "coming soon" or "to be added later" and "likely" or"possibly" qualify any such statements.
Bunker Knacker If you would read more carefully you would see that i said that this wouldn't be a solution, but at least they would start going the right way. Because this would show that Valve is concious about this problem and they want to find a solution.
Galbrain Yes, I read it and saw you commented on a solution with a solution that is no... solution. And had you read mine, you would see that it is not a solution and Steam surely does not give a flying fuck whether you fell for false advertising or not as they already got their cut. In fact, ppl should have boycotted this DRM crap long ago and use alternatives such as GOG instead, but it has become so mainstream, some don't even want to see an alternative. Too many retards around to change that and these are and will remain the main source of income for "developers" with no significant skill offering money grabbing early access titles. In fact, dead lines do not even work for AAA titles as proven dozens of times when games were being rushed and needed fixing on day one and the following weeks/months. A fix date is no step into the right direction at all and never has been.
Ya, Early Access to me was going to save the industry from the bad things the "AAA" publishers where doing, now its nothing more then cash grab after cash grab. Using Early Access as an excuse to not deal with bugs or bad gameplay. Bad programming is bad programming, doesnt matter if its Early Access or not. Somes games, like the one you mentioned, Empyrion as a good game have taken most of the beginning survival out and made the game more about combat survival, now you get attacked by bots and some AI aliens. Its like building, exploring is now back of the bus. Another Early Access game, Space Engineers has been in development for so long that most people who bought it forgot they own it or its still so buggy they stopped playing it. It used to be 25% of Early Access games got finished, now its down to 5% and of that 5% 1% are actually done, the rest are just released as they are. Asseto Corsa comes to mind on that one. AI and other things are still not finished, but they wanted more money, so they released it, then immediately released Pay DLC.
Some random thoughts: -There is no "correct" reading or analysis of Art & Entertainment. Because it's all subjective. Anyone who ignores this most _basic_ of concepts is being an idiot on purpose. -If you pre-order games (especially from Ubisoft or EA)? You're the fool. -If you buy mediocre games (like _Hatred_) because Polygon hated it? You're the fool. -If you buy mediocre games because IGN, Gamespot, Metacritic, your grandma gave it a 10/10? You're the fool. People need to accept that a 10/10 does not "force" you to buy a game. That all being said..keep up the good work, Mack! :)
Thank you so much for the mention of Mad Max vs. MGS V. To me, it seemed like those who *had* to do the Mad Max review were just annoyed that they were required to play a game that wasn't MGS V and were more harsh on Mad Max because of it. Leading up to the release, trolls and MGS fan boys were flooding the Mad Max Steam forum, with "this game will be shit, it's WB, remember Arkham Knight". I bought both, finished Mad Max (not %100, don't feel the need to do that) and didn't even continue playing MGS V past chapter 1.
you should check out this game called Angels fall first and it is a first person Sci-fi war game with 64 player land and space battles you can control battleship, destroyer and much more it is on steam for 17 dollars plz check it out it needs more players
It's so obvious MGSV is a half assed attempt, it's a shame because it could have been as good as most reviewers say. Mad Max on the other hand isn't anything special either to be honest, but at least it feels more like a finished product.
I remember hanging out on IRC with my Quake clan around the time Doom 3 came out, and being linked to that playthrough video. I still remember laughing at the reactions. Didn't know who it was till now!
Even though I don't agree with most of your opinions I find you enjoyable to listen. I think that the main reason I watch your channel is that you have a really good time and it shows. You carry that laid back, youshoot, devil may care attitude and I appreciate and enjoy that. Keep up the good work ;)
I agree with everything Mack and Mesh, say in this video. I can't wait for part two. I love Mad Max a lot. I have it on PS4. Extremely incredible video game in my own opinion. 10/10 in my own opinion. One of my favorite video games that came out this year, in 2015, along with Bloodborne. I love Bloodborne so much. But, anyway, Mad Max, overall, has completely & ridiculously fantastic, incredible, & extraordinary graphics, sound, sound design, sound effects, & music, controls, story, gameplay, characters, combat on foot & vehicle combat, driving mechanics, atmosphere, weather effects, lighting & shadows, etc, etc. Everything about Mad Max is interesting, unique & overwhelming. And, I love everything about Mad Max. Not one disappointing, bad, horrible or awful thing I could say about Mad Max, overall. Just seriously, a terrific, unbelievable & remarkable video game in its own right. I don't care what anybody says. Mad Max is my kind of video game. Very immersive. Such a fun, enjoyable, & thrilling video game to play & experience. I'm so glad & happy that this video game exists & that I actually own it. What a wonderful video game that Avalanche Studios created, made, produced, etc.
Serious felt that Farcry did that perfectly back in 2004 (with the AI) About that Warhammer game i did complain alot in forums that all the (chess pieces) used the same model & animation, but none would listen to me in that forum (this was back when it was in early access)
This is shaping up to be a great year for turn based games. The Age of Decadence, Wasteland 2 both just got a full release. And Satellite Reign and Shadowrun: Hong Kong both got a release a few months ago. Torment: Tides of Numenera is coming out later this year. Shame we gotta wait till the end of next year for Divinity: Original Sin 2.
You guys hit the nail on the head. It is sad I use to game regularly about 3 to 4 hours a day. Now I am lucky if I even start up steam or GoG. I am just tired of all the same crap with a different skin. Keep up the great work Mack.
to be fair mount and blade was doing early access before Minecraft - M&B was released in a early form in 2004 and went through many years of funding before being picked up commercially by paradox interactive in 2008
Ah yes. Just the angry rant I need to start off the day! edit: BTW. Can you check out Ark again? It is more optimized than last time and has TONS of new shit. Still has bugs but it's playable now.
It's really sad. There are only a few intelligent people out there that don't buy into this shit, but still ... you have to use the 'not some whack conspiracy theory' card. Conspiracies are real and there is truth to almost every theory out there. People get paid for troll/positive steam reviews. COD uses bots to fill servers/lobbies on PC online. They are not just making games shitty for money, they are also dumbing/numbing down upcomig generations.
+headsgrowback The problem arent those who exploits us, making stupid games they dont intent to finish an early access. Problem is with people who trust these people without them building up a name first.
i already noticed many many things about certain companies and games being absolute garbage at most points and the corruptions that are going on aswell. also there are a huge lack of demos of alot of games lately so you can notice there is only screenshots and youtube videos of it thats just about it. but there is like no demos it should come back because it makes the game a bit more trusting instead of being lied to so people won't waste money to something they didn't want to buy. and omg i started to try and make a game for free so if it is finished there will be a free to play game and i want to know everything in detail from the people that are going to play it in honesty. and if it works i will try and make more of those games but better (if i can that is i don't want to disappoint people)
Well said Mack. Props to you for being an honest voice. BTW, I would say a lot of this comes down to something I noticed back when the Gamecube came out: Companies that focus on "bigger, better, brighter" tend to focus on more of the same with a new coat of paint. That's why I admire Nintendo. While they're gimmicky as hell sometimes, they don't keep making Call of Duty over and over. (They just make Mario over and over...)
The story drops way too much as if they are buying time and it is really repetitive. It punishes you for using the new weapons you make and for being spotted which is really annoying. Not a 10/10 game nor a worthy competitor for GOTY.
+DeaKen002 Yeah, MG5 was really good at first but after a while you realize how shallow it is. Mack was spot on with that although I didn't agree with him at the time.
Talking about shades of grey, there is more than Indie (game wrapped around a single great idea) and Tripple-A (same procedure as every year, James) out there. It seems like any discourse regarding the gaming industry floats between these terms only.
I have not botherd with single player FPS games for a long time and it's simply down to the A.I As for the advertising and buzz words, well anyone who has ever tried to sell something has done that so you cant really blame them, its the soft mugs who will buy anything they are told where the blame lies
H1z1 was okay for a short time once they added more guns, spawn fight respawn. But it was almost like a giant counterstrike, it had it moments but nothing to hold a player for long. Ark is going the same way as h1z1, kind of once you have seen everything there is nothing to do.
Konami got the big gaming sites reviewers to their HQ to minimise the chances of gameplay footage leaking out. Also having liason officers to handle each reviewer was a clever move by Konami to make reviewers feel special.
You should have a dissenting opinion on early access gaming. I'd be glad to fly over there and offer you mine if you'll just provide the plane tickets, a 3 day stay in Newcastle's finest hotel, and all the Yorkshire tea I can drink.
Interestingly enough, if you go on to the review section of steam for each game now, Mad Max is sitting there with a shit ton of positive reviews and metal gear solid is falling down as people realise that once you get 30 hours in, you've seen all there is to see and it's just rinse repeat in a lifeless "open world". People do wake up eventually, unfortunately it's usually after they've handed their money over.
On steam games, as a "good game indicator" steam must add when you are browsing for games "Average time played per purchase" that I think would be a good good or bad game indicator :)
another thing to add are the ridiculous prizes for DLC e.g. EA Battlefront if you want the full package you pay € 119,98 euro's o.0 for unknown DLC and a few exclusive emotes (oh I forgot about the few items you get that you can unlock)...... however many gamers still pay (and indulge/stimulate companies) for creating games that are overpriced... *sigh*. It is a good looking game but it has several flaws and we (gamers) are being treated as cashcows and "we" don't even seem to mind..... *rant mode out*
when I think to buy early access I ask myself "in this state if the devs never released another update would it still be fun to play? would it feel complete?
Omgggg, was looking forward to this since I heard about it So damn excited. I still think FEAR had the best enemy AI. Never played half life so I can't compare it to that but I haven't played any other shooters where I felt the AI was any good. And what Mesh said about it just being code, that IS what AI is though, code. I don't know if they're "technically" communicating (they MIGHT be, through code) with each other but that's how tactics works. Even irl, if you are fighting an enemy, someone is going to tell you to flank them or do whatever, in this case that person is the programmer coding all that behavior. That's AI as far as I'm concerned anyway, until we get self-learning computers/AI or whatever.
Nice one guys....all i can say is - "Your just saying what EVERYONE is thinking". Or what they should be thinking that is. As you both said... there are some Diamonds in the ruff ....but man is there a shitload of ruff to sort through. :S Back in the good old days of gaming (mid 80's to mid 90's), game makers did it for the love of making games (and a little cash as well) but now it's like "Wrap a dog turd in xmas lights and tinsel to make it look good, fuck it if the game has no soul....and SELL SELL SELL !!!" Pure class guys, can't wait for part 2. ;)
I can´t find a single fault in your argumentation, I agree with everything. It´s especially sad to see how little AI has advanced over the last decade (not at all)

And if straight up lying in trailers wasn't bad enough, They then release the game in "Beta/Alpha Testing" so that they have a safety net for when anyone tells them how shite their game is. "Its just a Beta, so it cant be bad. Dont worry when it fully comes out of beta it will be like a whole new game"
People eat it up every single time and i dont know how they keep getting away with it.
Sellin games on the creativity and enjoyment you got from it instead of making quick millions on the excitement of eager kids that are armed with their parents wallets
Mack i love the videos you put out and even if i dont agree with some of your opinions at least you have them. keep making videos that help people break free of the hype spell this industry has people under.
+Worth A Buy
I think you should check and do WaB of Vermintide - pretty cool, and
hard as fuck (especially at nightmare difficulty and above) coop game where you
play as characters (5 to pick from) from warhammer fantasy
universe vs bunch of rats. Ai is pretty good - common rat waves will
flank you all the time, there are special rats which have to be dealt
(just like in l4d, if they catch you, someone have to rescue you) with
help of your teammates. Game also has RNG loot if you finish the game
game drop you new weapon or trinket (with stats) or super rare hat. You
can increase your loot chance by picking Tomes (each tome give chance
for dices) and Grimoires (reduce your health to 50% and 2nd gnomoire
carried by 2nd person reduce whole team's health to 25%, also if carrier
dies you lose both grimoire and better dices).
Vermintide is really intresting but i'm kinda bored after i played 50+h
of 3 betas and now 23h of preorder beta. But it's worth a try.
+Worth A Buy just put up footage of Deus Ex
+Jesse Fair Got a link mate. Can't find Macks vid of that? :-(
+Worth A Buy Dude u shall review Angels fall first just try it, i ve seen some gameplays and i rlly wanna know ur opinion ab this game, in my opinion is a pretty good game and it starts to grow up.
clicking on this again 2 years later. when we getting another Mack and Mesh talk?
This is the reason why I do not pre-order games that are above 40 dollars, and I've learned to see through hype and all its bullshit.
*starts playing the ad and goes to put the kettle on*
So much nostalgia when Mack & Mesh do a video together.
Shame it doesn't happen that often anymore
+Damian Cunliffe I don't recall driving around Middle Earth in a Pimped out V8
I am so fucking glad you two have done something together again, Been following you both for YEARS on my old channel. Looking forward to part 2!
You should do more videos with Mesh, Mack
When I saw this in the list of videos, all i said to myself was "oh this is going to be good"
I'm doubly pleased that you and Mesh are doing a video together. You guys make fantastic videos when you're doing them solo, but I love the videos that you do in collaboration.
Totally agree, Mack & Mesh. Good to see you guys making content together again!
I really want to know were trading standards comes into games.. you pay £50 for half a game that you need to pay £20-£30 for a DLC on the day of release of the game!!! That should be the full game.. cutting games in half to make as much money as they can.. if you are going to release half a game it should be £20 not £50!
+Wez102 Trust me when I say we cover this in a later video :D
+MeshsCorner good to hear mate it need sorting out!!
I completely agree. I love having you and Mesh working together. Any hint on future game collaborations?!
Game descriptions: This is why the lies
The descriptive terms that you are referring to in the games description text are called "Keywords" by Google.
See the steam Tags knowledge page to see more:

The gaming industry needs a kick in the ass, that's a definite, we complained back in the N64 era that games were TOO expensive at £60, and you could argue we were ripped off then too but and big but here, we got WHOLE GAMES, games went in console, console was switched on, controller was picked up and off you went, simple, unlike now
Good early access examples (to me): Kerbal Space Program (now released), Prison Architect (now released) and Starbound (still in early access, but gets updated a lot and frequent).
2 years later and games are even worse (although there's a lot of promise but juries still out) and steam is an absolute clusterfuck.
Galbrain
Solves nothing.
Galbrain
Yes, I read it and saw you commented on a solution with a solution that is no...
I think I've been red piilled by Mack...my eyes are open...I'm beginning to see the corruption...thank you, Mack...thank you
The ending made me smile.
Some random thoughts:
-There is no "correct" reading or analysis of Art & Entertainment.
Many more thumbs up, id love to see more of you two talking it out!
Mack, your videos make my day and I think you deserve more loyal fans!
The old Mack and Mesh
You're IRL videos were brilliant!
you should check out this game called Angels fall first and it is a first person Sci-fi war game with 64 player land and space battles you can control battleship, destroyer and much more it is on steam for 17 dollars plz check it out it needs more players
+daniel emeenike It looks really good but I've read it's not very well optimized right now.
+daniel emeenike ...AND it's Early Access.
+THE BATMAN i don't think so
+Just Johnny i know
+King Dango i know
Good to hear these two back together again.
It's so obvious MGSV is a half assed attempt, it's a shame because it could have been as good as most reviewers say.
Mad Max on the other hand isn't anything special either to be honest, but at least it feels more like a finished product.
This is really interesting Mack, can't wait for part 2 and maybe more?
MY favorite Early Access is Of Guards And Thieves! They still update it... and it's extremely fun
I remember hanging out on IRC with my Quake clan around the time Doom 3 came out, and being linked to that playthrough video. I still remember laughing at the reactions.
Didn't know who it was till now!
Ahh its good too see two too banter away again. :) I still miss the Mesh does videos. Featuring Macks elbow and rabbit.
More Mack & Mesh!
good to hear you both in the same video. :-)
+SWOLL FERKTIL LOL, it's good but not GOTY :)
+Andy Clifft I truly like it that much. I never use sarcasm when I speak or talk to other people in public or online. I hate sarcasm.
you need to do more of these kids of videos, you guys are a hoot together!
Serious felt that Farcry did that perfectly back in 2004 (with the AI) About that Warhammer game i did complain alot in forums that all the (chess pieces) used the same model & animation, but none would listen to me in that forum (this was back when it was in early access)
I'm loving this!
Keep up the great work and service to the gaming community!
why just part 1? where is the rest?? come on!
It's great to hear MackandMesh together again lol. Good, relevant discussion.
The game that really revolutionized enemy AI was the original FEAR. Try playing it at the highest difficulty and you'll see what I mean.
+Reza Nabavi Decent AI, but FAR from a "revolutionary" one. Simply added nothing new to the table.
Mack and Mesh, back again, it's been while. You's two are fucking class together.
I liked Mesh, you should bring him on more often or do more discussions, really enjoyed this
I wouldn't mind a monthly discussion between you and Mesh like this video
And thanks to you Mack, I cancelled my MGS5 order at the last minute and bought Mad Max instead. You're doing good work.
And people are listening
to be fair mount and blade was doing early access before Minecraft - M&B was released in a early form in 2004 and went through many years of funding before being picked up commercially by paradox interactive in 2008
Mack you're my fav TH-camr! KEEP GOING WITH YOUR DINGS!
We love you Mack and Mesh!
Ah yes. Just the angry rant I need to start off the day!
edit: BTW. Can you check out Ark again? It is more optimized than last time and has TONS of new shit. Still has bugs but it's playable now.
I can watch this forever. I don't know why, I just like watching people get so angry at things.
Mack, I recommend you S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series - awesome atmospheric FPS with good AI.
Love seeing this channel grow, great stuff.
Please review the The Forest again. It has definitely progressed since your last review
yes it has, that game is a great example of how early access should work... constant updates and listening to complaints
headsgrowback. It couldn't have gone in a better way since mack reviewed it
+headsgrowback The problem arent those who exploits us, making stupid games they dont intent to finish an early access.
Problem is with people who trust these people without them building up a name first.
Legend_Warp. Am I correct in saying your point is that the consumer are too trusting of random developers and their games?
AWFULCOLD MINER Yes.
i already noticed many many things about certain companies and games being absolute garbage at most points and the corruptions that are going on aswell. also there are a huge lack of demos of alot of games lately so you can notice there is only screenshots and youtube videos of it thats just about it. but there is like no demos it should come back because it makes the game a bit more trusting instead of being lied to so people won't waste money to something they didn't want to buy. and omg i started to try and make a game for free so if it is finished there will be a free to play game and i want to know everything in detail from the people that are going to play it in honesty. and if it works i will try and make more of those games but better (if i can that is i don't want to disappoint people)
Well said Mack.
I'm a Metal Gear fan but 5 is mediocre and should be more like a 6/10, to be honest I'm not that far in and haven't played it in about a month.
You're not the only one, I got about 20 hours in and haven't touched it since. I'm really not motivated to go back to it honestly
me too i finished the story and side quests of mad max and i was like: now what ?
The story drops way too much as if they are buying time and it is really repetitive. It punishes you for using the new weapons you make and for being spotted which is really annoying. Not a 10/10 game nor a worthy competitor for GOTY.
+Kevin Wilson Same here. Massive fan of the series but just stopped playing about a third way through.
Mack and fucking Mesh finally, thanks for this Mackie.
I have not botherd with single player FPS games for a long time and it's simply down to the A.I
As for the advertising and buzz words, well anyone who has ever tried to sell something has done that so you cant really blame them, its the soft mugs who will buy anything they are told where the blame lies
H1z1 was okay for a short time once they added more guns, spawn fight respawn.
But it was almost like a giant counterstrike, it had it moments but nothing to hold a player for long.
Ark is going the same way as h1z1, kind of once you have seen everything there is nothing to do.
Loved this! You guys fit good together, would be cool if you could do these "podcasts" more often :)
I miss Mesh
Konami got the big gaming sites reviewers to their HQ to minimise the chances of gameplay footage leaking out. Also having liason officers to handle each reviewer was a clever move by Konami to make reviewers feel special.
+Abc Abc I lolled
+Mihir Chitnis It is all human psychology
Spot on, Excellent!
Solid video guys, really was looking forward to this. It was perfect, hilarious, and so fuckin true. Dam I miss the MackandMesh days
So Mesh really did do the first ever recorded lets play video on social media / interwebz? Amazing
*rant mode out*
I just now realize that I used to watch you two a while back. Totally forgot about it though and I didn't realize you're that Mack. Funny.
when I think to buy early access I ask myself "in this state if the devs never released another update would it still be fun to play? would it feel complete?
these two middle age guys are just having teenage fun, I love them ! :D
particularly enjoyed this one mack, keep it up man.
The current state of the gaming industry can be summed up in two words.
Bells Akimbo.
17:47 that part was amazing but true.
Omgggg, was looking forward to this since I heard about it
So damn excited.
That's AI as far as I'm concerned anyway, until we get self-learning computers/AI or whatever.
thanks for being real mate
Nice one guys....all i can say is - "Your just saying what EVERYONE is thinking". Or what they should be thinking that is.
As you both said... there are some Diamonds in the ruff ....but man is there a shitload of ruff to sort through. :S
Back in the good old days of gaming (mid 80's to mid 90's), game makers did it for the love of making games (and a little cash as well) but now it's like "Wrap a dog turd in xmas lights and tinsel to make it look good, fuck it if the game has no soul....and SELL SELL SELL !!!"
Pure class guys, can't wait for part 2. ;)
Would love to hear you and Mesh's opinions on how mobile gaming has affected the gaming market.
With MGS mate it's the first area that restricted like that with the mountains. the later areas are not like that i.e. in africa.
