This is one of the best games on VR ever… it simulates some aspects of boxing really well. I’m a pretty lazy person, I hate pointless exercising like working out in a gym or running, but real life boxing is the only exercise that I can do until I’m completely and utterly exhausted and fell good about it and this game translate that into VR flawlessly. The first time I played it, I felt tired just like it did when I trained boxing years ago and in the end you feel like you actually accomplished something.
I love this game and play it a lot, it's a great workout, lots of fun and actually teaches a little about boxing. There is one thing I don't like though, after you knock someone down, it should be easier to knock them down again, but often the AI just jumps up and acts like they haven't just dragged their butt off the canvas.
I think there is a bit of a dynamic where they're easier to knock down the second time, but it's subtle. I think it also cuts the other way; you as the player get knocked down more easily right after being knocked down.
damage/AI defense in general is pretty poorly done. No matter how hard you swing or how many times you hit them clean it comes down to whether or not you happen to hit the miniscule hitboxes that trigger a knockdown. It's pretty easy to connect with 20-30 hard consecutive punches, and nine times out of ten you won't get a knockdown. The automatic force adjustment doesn't help things either.
It depends, on outclassed I play and after a few rounds they go down, and then they're like finished pretty much.. Maybe if u knock em down with 1 punch earlier it's different, but I don't get that often. What I rezally don't like about the game tho is how you can get knocked down from a punch that isn't fair, or couldn't have hit you hard etc, had that so many times.
This game is amazing. I am not always motivated to exercise so I make it a routine to play this game everytime right before I shower. It really forces me to exercise and exercise hard!
There are many things that I like about your videos and I always learn from you. I think though my favorite aspect of your game is the way in which you simply and confidently step to the left and right to land shots. I appreciate your channel immensely.
You have good uppercuts. You are generating consistent force on those punches compared to what I see others do. Your hooks are generating comparable speed to what other good players generate, but it is your uppercuts that are a bit unusual. Most players have a tough time being accurate with the uppercut in TOTF let alone generating numbers around 3,500. For me, I have found that the easiest punch to generate a lot of power in is the long range overhand right hook. You can put your entire body behind it and accelerate the punch for a longer period of time. It also hits the opponent in the temple and helps make knockouts easier. Good work.
@Jake, I had this in mind while filming my latest video, but will definitely need to get better at closing range before throwing it on the Champ. Couldn't get a very high success rate with it. Latest vid: th-cam.com/video/qw4D8WaM3O0/w-d-xo.html
Yes, that overhand right hook is what my daughter calls the Night Night. Last year I literally watched her five pieces, her x husband; I heard her telling him NIght Night and finished it and him off with the overhand right hook.
Super impressive , great job man ! I'm gonna go try that right now , I beat the game , but I have to jab them to death with a decision , impressive that your not even breathing hard and knocking them out
Just an FYI regarding mass multiplier from the DEV: Hey, I'm the TotF dev. I think the best way to explain the manual multiplier is to first explain how the automatic adjustment works. The automatic adjustment monitors your swings and tries to determine the hardest swing you can throw. It then adjusts your multiplier so that your hardest swing lands for the hardest base force value the game is balanced around (and then weak point adjustments, etc, apply on top of that). It does this by literally just taking the base force number calculated for your swings and multiplies them by the multiplier number. This makes it so you don't need any particular level of strength to play the game (also some people just don't want to swing hard while being effectively blindfolded), and it's also sort of an automatic weight class adjuster to make the game balanced regardless of what weight class you'd be in in real life. It also means your light hits will be light and your hard hits will be hard with the full range of force in between - it's just that your range of force is being shifted up or down to keep things competitive. When you manually adjust, you can't make yourself hit any harder than that same top-end value the automatic adjustment system tries to line up your top-end swing with. As you increase your multiplier past what the automatic adjustment would have put you at, you're compressing your range of force at the top end. For example, if you set yourself to 5x, what you've done is made it so that nearly all your hits are going to be hitting for that maximum base force. This is going to make it really easy to stumble your opponent and get TKOs, but it won't help you much with KOs since they are achieved by doing a ton of damage in a single hit. On Normal mode, against an opponent you haven't worn down at all (and except for Duke and Moneymaker who are harder to hurt), you'll need about a 27% weak point bonus with your top-end hit to have much of a chance of keeping them down for the count. That's going to require a very well lined up shot to the side of their jaw to achieve. As you wear the opponent down over a few rounds, the damage needed to keep them down longer gets lower and the time they stay on the floor also gets higher. If you want to make it easier to KO the opponent, you'll need to lower their Chin/Toughness stat instead of increasing your multiplier. Similarly, increasing the Chin/Toughness or playing on one of the harder modes will make it nearly impossible to win by KO.
I have some martial arts and boxing in my background but that is not how I use this training app. Since there is no worry about CRT, I try to go full out for 3 minutes. My punches become weak after just a short while but my goal is to get my cardio up. I guess I must have some form because I have never been knocked out and I seldom get knocked down. In my mind I think I am that old warner brothers cartoon character the Tasmanian Devil. I am up to 6 full out rounds and any rounds after that are just regular stalking, blocking, counter, bla, bla and then I just resign because that is not my goal in the app. But man oh man, I do love watching how to do real VR boxing and your form seems to be superb. Change settings as well for round lengths (and breaks) to mimic real boxing regulations, and box as long as you can. Your upper body will be as solid as a professional boxers in about 8 months if you do this 3x per week.

I did some boxing and kickboxing classes for stretches of months a couple times in my life. Mostly been learning through VR. Back when it was free the box VR app was a great way to train form and endurance too. Thinking about using supernatural that way, but have also found some good ways to train in thrill of the fight. Next video will share some of that.

Me too. I think I've adapted to the speed limitation of the sensors. It's going to be even more challenging when it comes to the latency introduced with multiplayer (when ToTF2 comes out). Hopefully they find a way to still make it a fun experience, but there's no way it could truly match the speed of real-life sparring.
It might look slow/light if you're looking just at the arm speed relative to the torso, because most of the hand speed is result of the torso rotation rather than arm swing (this form also helps avoid injury and better reflects how you'd need to punch in real life).
Now your punches are decently powerful but you need to breathe while you punch and you will have much stronger punches and also try to jab more and not hard uppercuts and right and left hooks I am in boxing right now I have been in it for a few months and it is nothing like the games it is much more difficult
Headband is more for sweat. I find the fog isn't too frequent - mostly an issue when the headset is still cold relative to me. Once it warms up, the fog tends to stay away.
I noticed you don't throw many jabs and crosses. Is it easier to do damage with hooks and uppercuts in this game? I have a heck of a time getting my uppercuts to land.
Ok so my BIGGEST question is, how do you get that angle on the recording? Does the quest have a green screen mode or something lol? So you can record the gameplay on the quest WHILE recording yourself with the outside camera??? I’m so confused 😂🤣🤣😆😆
@@trivialbeingplays oh ok nice, thank you. But even with the mixed reality tool, do you have to record yourself with one camera, and then also record with the build in record feature in the Quest 2? Or does that OBS tool record both you and the gameplay at the same time for you?
Turn on hand tracking so you don’t have to use the remotes. It will make it much more realistic. U can go to settings and enable hand tracking, it’s an Awesome feature. Although I’m not sure if Hans tracking will work with this game, but if I were you I’d give it a shot.
Already tried it! Can confirm it's not available. The game developer has also explained that the hand tracking just isn't anywhere near to the precision and reliability needed to work for this game.
All good. I'm not quite sure how the punch force mechanics work in this game, but they seem to reward good form - i.e. punching with your hips and torso, rather than just arms.
@@trivialbeingplays i dont get how the computer senses your hips moving, unless it just guesses hip movement based on how you move your head and the hand controls??
@@john6234528 yeah, I don't know. Maybe it's making inferences on how one hand moves relative to the head and other hand. Just feels like it rewards good form somehow.
@@john6234528 When you turn your hips it generates more speed in the punch. it's like throwing a ball from a moving platform. the game isn't looking at your hips, the hip turn just affords for more punching speed.
My punches got like 2000~2400 even when I use all my power (my hardest punch was a straight 3100). I've been training real boxing for almost 10 years. I'm not saying that I'm better than anyone, but some numbers in this game are totally crazy. I was watching a guy (on another video) throwing a punch like a girl and getting 3000+, wtf ahahaha.
Yeah I can't wait. Thrill of the Fight 2 is expected to bring multiplayer and might be released in 2022. They're making no promises on timeline though.
It depends if you're playing on the quest or a PC based VR headset. Here's more info: www.reddit.com/r/ThrillOfTheFight/comments/suyrq3/quest2_virtual_desktop/?
What? How is it even going to 3000+ damage? If I try to punch the hardest/fastest I can, it's still on +/- 2200. Is somethings wrong with my oculus? @__@. Or is it means I am just too slow? Coz there's no such thing as strength in VR right now. Is it possible? Because it is a game hahaha.
I think it must be a matter of the speed your hands reaches before contact, although they might also be factoring in distance traveled before contact. Using your torso to rotate before really throwing the punch with your arm helps maximize the speed (and force) you can achieve.
No. I'm using Mixed Reality Capture with a PC (I've got a standalone mirrorless camera sending an HDMI feed to a capture card in the PC that my headset is also connected to via wifi).
I love them both! Playing multiplayer with real people is a blast. I think ToTF is far more detailed in its simulation of boxing, though (not that I'm a fighter). Very excited for multiplayer functionality when ToTF 2 launches!
It's actually surprisingly good about not steaming up. Sometimes if I'mLooking upward for a while during a break the steam will accumulate on the lenses, but for the most part it's ok. I'm definitely a sweaty, steamy guy, too.
Headset doesn't steam up at all. At least the default one doesnt, its foamy so it breathes much better than third party accessories. I got a solid rubber one and while it feels really good, it steams up the moment you break a sweat.
I've never fought and only done some boxing and kickboxing classes. So I don't think I can really give a qualified answer to whether it helps. I will just say that I've learned a lot more about engaging in a one-on-one competitive sport (e.g. things like rhythm and head movement) from sparring these AI, and even from sparring people in Creed than I think I learned through doing drills in the classes (they were a great workout and very instructive on form at least).
It looks like it will - at least via Thrill of the Fight 2 which is now under active development: www.reddit.com/r/ThrillOfTheFight/comments/riq2lo/status_of_totf2/?

Just an FYI regarding mass multiplier from the DEV:
Hey, I'm the TotF dev.
Similarly, increasing the Chin/Toughness or playing on one of the harder modes will make it nearly impossible to win by KO.
this game is so useful after workouts, great game

My only slight as of now is that the mechanics constantly register uppercuts as hooks.
Interesting. How can you tell?
@@trivialbeingplays whenever I practice on the dummy and even in this video of you. You go for uppercuts but the analytics on the side register “right hook left hook” and it’s clear you are throwing uppercuts.
Thrill of the fight 2 is coming out this year with multi player!!
Can't wait
@Alex Ramos i don't see a date yet. but for sure this year.
AHahahahha nice video mate, that was funny as
hi, i like your video and this game view setting. can you make tutorial how to create video like this? thanks :)
Here's the guide I used - don't think I can do a better job at it than he did!
th-cam.com/video/tQnYsWj2ePo/w-d-xo.html
Jab the body to bring the hands down & then either cross, jab or hook to the exposed head more, my friend
have you had any training prior? because I have had training in boxing my whole life and you be making it look easy 😂 your channel slept on too good content
@@trivialbeingplays u deserve more views bro keep droppin content ill definitely be watching u be inspiring me to wanna get back into it now i took a break to just focus on my music but having vr definitely changes that
@@trivialbeingplays nice
I just wish the sensors could keep up with real hand speed
Me too. I think I've adapted to the speed limitation of the sensors. It's going to be even more challenging when it comes to the latency introduced with multiplayer (when ToTF2 comes out). Hopefully they find a way to still make it a fun experience, but there's no way it could truly match the speed of real-life sparring.
Breath like your going for a jog so next time you won’t get so winded.. my fat ass needs this game.
Haha, I must say, fighting this guy on outclassed demands more than a jog pace from me!
Can playing this game actually improve my reflexes in real life scenarios?
1:10
can I know your punch tip?
It's look like your punch very light.
But the damage is awesome.
If I punch like you, the damage will be about 1500.
It might look slow/light if you're looking just at the arm speed relative to the torso, because most of the hand speed is result of the torso rotation rather than arm swing (this form also helps avoid injury and better reflects how you'd need to punch in real life).
@@trivialbeingplays Thank you for your answer.
One last thing: Interesting to notice that you are good at generating weak point bonus on your uppercuts.
Hmm interesting. What is the "weak point bonus?"
ur very good at boxing but you should move more with the head
Thanks! Trying to work on this now.
@@trivialbeingplays nice ur wery good btw
@@trivialbeingplays keep up the grind
How to you have that camera angle I really want to know cause I want to make vids too
GG
This game is gonna get someone’s ass whooped irl
can a small school how to make a video of their fight
Já domácí povaleč, mám impact velocity jen kolem 6m/s :-D Musím trénovat.
Why tf is the ref in the way for half the fight?
Yeah! I know. Learning some tricks with my filming to avoid that now, but sorry it's that way in this one.
@@trivialbeingplays no worries, it was a fun video to watch and looks like quite the workout! Good fight!
hi man i finally took metaquest2. can you make a tutorial how to record your fight so i can watch like you?
Would you still want to watch such a video knowing it takes a green screen and dedicated PC?
I think Luis felix is the hardest opponent in ToTF. Any special tip for practice with him?
Find his rhythm and start countering. Trying to follow up with a precise hit or two after one of your counters lands.
@@trivialbeingplays Thanks!!🎅
Now your punches are decently powerful but you need to breathe while you punch and you will have much stronger punches and also try to jab more and not hard uppercuts and right and left hooks I am in boxing right now I have been in it for a few months and it is nothing like the games it is much more difficult
Thanks!
My only question is does the headband work for screen fog. I sweat bullets after a few rounds
Yeah, for me, I find the jabs pretty ineffective. A straight right with speed can be effective, but not my lead left.
idk how tf youre able to talk and do this, im gassed out on easy mode 😂
75% working smarter rather than harder, 25% cardio improvement by playing the game a lot 😉
You just have 0 stamina and it’s probably because you aren’t breathing when you punch lol
Today I learned I hit like a bitch.
What about all the shots landed by the other guy
Tried to describe their impact as much as I could. You see black and white in the headset when they land a really damaging shot.
geez those camera flashing in the background are horrible lol
Ok so my BIGGEST question is, how do you get that angle on the recording? Does the quest have a green screen mode or something lol? So you can record the gameplay on the quest WHILE recording yourself with the outside camera???
I’m so confused 😂🤣🤣😆😆
Check out the mixed reality capture tool. Virtual Reality Oasis has a great guide.
Please dont take offense, but you seem to be punchong rather slow on the dummy, so im confused how you get those numbers
When are they going yo make it online so some of us could take you on 😆
Yeah I can't wait. Thrill of the Fight 2 is expected to bring multiplayer and might be released in 2022. They're making no promises on timeline though.
Dude awesome video! How do you do the setup like this? It’s freaking cool
Thanks man! Virtual Reality Oasis has a great guide on Mixed Reality Capture. That's what I'm doing.
@@trivialbeingplays You are using a green screen?
I don't want mixed reality. I just want to be able to play in first person and see the fight in third person on a screen. Do you know how to do it?
It depends if you're playing on the quest or a PC based VR headset. Here's more info: www.reddit.com/r/ThrillOfTheFight/comments/suyrq3/quest2_virtual_desktop/?
@@trivialbeingplays I'm on Oculus Quest 2. There is no third person option in the game menu.
Yeah if you read the above linked Reddit page you'll see it's not really possible with the Quest 2 right now.
It is hard to commentate while fighting, you should explain after making the video
How do I capture my gameplay like this?
Check out this guide th-cam.com/video/tQnYsWj2ePo/w-d-xo.html
Was he holding his breath on the dummy punches?
@@trivialbeingplays I try to rotate my torso better, and I get 3300 damage. This is the first time lol!
Thank you! hahaha
@@daryladhityahenry Awesome!
I can get them down sometimes four times they keep getting up I only won one much by knockout and it was the guy before him the rest is by Decision
Yeah it's tough to put out enough damage on Outclassed!
Are you recording this from your iPhone i haven't seen anyone cover the ar recording since the v35 update
No. I'm using Mixed Reality Capture with a PC (I've got a standalone mirrorless camera sending an HDMI feed to a capture card in the PC that my headset is also connected to via wifi).
Can I adjust settings so I can go southpaw
I think the game should work just fine without any adjustments if you want to fight southpaw
In comparison to Creed:Rise to Glory, which do you thinks has better performance?
I love them both! Playing multiplayer with real people is a blast. I think ToTF is far more detailed in its simulation of boxing, though (not that I'm a fighter). Very excited for multiplayer functionality when ToTF 2 launches!
didn't the headset steam up?
It's actually surprisingly good about not steaming up. Sometimes if I'mLooking upward for a while during a break the steam will accumulate on the lenses, but for the most part it's ok. I'm definitely a sweaty, steamy guy, too.
@@trivialbeingplays Thanks!
Headset doesn't steam up at all. At least the default one doesnt, its foamy so it breathes much better than third party accessories. I got a solid rubber one and while it feels really good, it steams up the moment you break a sweat.
Do u you think this helps with real fighting reflexes in real life? Assuming you are already under proper training?
I've never fought and only done some boxing and kickboxing classes. So I don't think I can really give a qualified answer to whether it helps. I will just say that I've learned a lot more about engaging in a one-on-one competitive sport (e.g. things like rhythm and head movement) from sparring these AI, and even from sparring people in Creed than I think I learned through doing drills in the classes (they were a great workout and very instructive on form at least).
Bro please explain how you recorded this and got this set up
I use the Oculus mixed reality capture tool. If you search TH-cam, there's a great guide from the Virtual Reality Oasis channel on using it.
Is this game ever going to get multiplayer
It looks like it will - at least via Thrill of the Fight 2 which is now under active development: www.reddit.com/r/ThrillOfTheFight/comments/riq2lo/status_of_totf2/?
Would this game work with hand detection and a punch bag ?
Just checked today and no luck. Must use the controllers.
How do you record yourself like this?
Where can i buy this console/ game
You can get the game on Steam or the Oculus store. You'll need a VR headset - I'm using the Quest 2 and loving it.
How do you get the view?
It's called the Oculus Mixed Reality Capture (MRC) Tool
