I just started using the custom option for glove placement and I think it really helped with putting the gloves where my hands actually are and my hook placement seems to have improved. I use gloves to keep hand sweat off the controllers so my hand location in relation to the controllers was a little off.
I watched the Mayweather vs Pacquioa fight to get tips on how to beat a lefty. If you keep your left foot to the outside of his lead foot, your right hand is lined straight at his jaw and you’re head is slightly out of range of his power hand.
Fought him at Outclassed tonight for the first time. My multipliers are at 1.2 . Wasn't throwing right hooks to the head or proper right crosses because of a minor muscle strain. Got knocked down in just about every round and stopped in the 5th in my first attempt ( six rounds ). I don't usually pay much mind to what the opponent does but with him you are probably better off countering. Got knocked down with single punches and quick one-twos. You need to get your hands back to guard very quickly and, as you say, avoid getting greedy. I was missing a lot as well with punches that normally land. Back at it tomorrow. Took me four attempts to get past the Spider.
Great video as usual! Today was a milestone for me, I just now won over Luis Felix by tko on normal, 1.2 m.multiplier, wrapped wrist and small gloves. I wanted to let you know :-) ! I think the key difference in my fighting now compared to before is I am applying combos way more.
@@trivialbeingplays Thanks, I appreciate it! :-) I have combos!!! Jab-cross, cross-left hook-cross, cross-hook to the body, jab-sidestep-left hook to the body and my favourite is fake jab to the body and the starting a combo with right cross. Great video as always. You should be able to take him down with bodyshots. Though a body knockdown usually gives a shorter count they don’t recover very well.
I’m an orthodox fighter naturally. However, I did Wing Chun in my younger years which tells you to put your power hand forward. It made me comfortable going south paw or orthodox when doing traditional boxing. Doesn’t mean much when fighting a computer, but humans get thrown out of whack when you can switch your stance up on them. If you’re looking for a fun change going south paw makes the game a bit more fun/ challenging if you’re not used to it.
I have tried it with mixed results. I find sometimes that it just allows me to use different muscles by jabbing with the right when fatigue sets in. Once ( IF ) I have gotten to the point of toying with Moneymaker in Outclassed I will start back at Normal in southpaw position.
Nice Ed - that was exactly my move too. Once I defeted the money maker (but before learning about drift protection), I started learning the game again as southpaw. I didn't stick with it long enough to really train it as a viable alternative (shifted to relearning the game with wrapped wrist and more challenging mass multiplayer). As of now, when I do switch to it, I find I can still land powerful blows but my defensive movement really suffers which is a show stopping drawback for me.
@@trivialbeingplays I had a good session tonight. I set my multipliers at 1.2 which keeps my tendency to swing too hard in check and started back in Outclassed after stopping Moneymaker in the last round at Endurance ( six rounds ). I actually stopped Ugly Joe and the Reverend in the last round as well. I was actually putting them down with jabs. Guess that's a combination of precision and the multiplier - I was trying to stay in the pocket and target the chin. More importantly I wasn't taking much incoming and boy is my conditioning improving. No near death experience in the closing rounds. I think I will have died and gone to heaven when TOTF2 comes out.
@@errcoche Awesome! I'm looking forward to it, too! Trying to manage my expectations about multiplayer, given inevitable latency limitations, but otherwise can't wait!
@@trivialbeingplays Eleven Table Tennis has been successful in handling latency AFAIK - guess I should play somebody to confirm that. Not sure about whether that would translate from a kind of turn based game to boxing of course. If multiplayer works out then great. I am just hoping for better opponent AI, more varied styles in terms of volume versus power, maybe some in game coaching in your corner based on how the prior round went. Based on the dev's opinion of TOTF1 and his ambition for TOTF2 I am excited.
Hojo is south paw. His right body is front. In ToF, liver shot works. I see you are using right hook to body. Left hook to body works better on him. When you step in little further and left hook to right side of his body. It will land side or little behind the right body. It will be yellow hit even with less force. It makes him open his left, which is good for head shot with your right hook. For me, it was hard to take him down with bodyshot KO. But when I use liver shot, I notice he opens left headshot often. When you are orthodox, left headshot also needs step in, since he's in south paw. His left head further than orthodox. He sometimes counters. Quick right hook to left head and step out. It works.
I've got to get this PC set up. I love the different angles you can get. What type of PC will do the trick? I currently only have the Metaverse Quest 2 headset
I'm just playing this in the Quest 2 headset. The PC is just for the Mixed Reality Capture tool side of things. Virtual Reality Oasis channel has a good tutorial on how to set it up.

@@joedk-hs7cu thank you, and nice. Definitely keep at it and you'll improve before long. I've probably only played the game ~ 10 times since this comment was posted, and I can already tell I've improved a lot. I'm not sure where you're at skill-wise, but I took some time checking out legitimate boxing and kickboxing tips, and they helped me a lot with my stance, blocking, and how I throw punches. I definitely suggest using TH-cam tutorials. Even though they don't really seem like they'd do that much to help you, they can be really insightful. Good luck to you too!
Is it worth buying an Oculus Quest 2 just to play Thrill of the Fhigt? I mean, is it a long-term game or in the short or medium term do you get bored of it?
It’s a great workout for your arms and you can play against all the opponents on every difficulty. There’s always new things I find fun about this game and you can always work on your technique in the game, so I think it’s good in the long term
I honestly hate playing against him lol. His model makes him look like he can barely keep his eyes open and yet he takes hard shot after hard shot and continues to hit back.
I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but if you're asking how to record like this, I suggest a quick search for a guide to the mixed reality capture tool.
I finally just beat this guy today on Outclassed/Small Gloves/1x:1x. He is like fighting a nightmare! I set the fight up for 10 3:00 rounds and inflicted over 1.3M in damage on him WITHOUT KNOCKING HIM DOWN ONCE! Won by decision. He is a monster. Hardest boxer on the game aside from the champ.

Clever! I'll have to see how that works in-game.
