@@LCardosed92 No Zack's death was a main contributing factor to his mental breakdown to the point that he made up memories to help him cope. In ACC they reveal that he's still not over Zack's death, because it turns out the wolf illusion was Claude's morning Zack all along. The whole reason why he uses a different sword is because he's still mourning Zack. So yeah, timeline wise Zack's death broke Cloud. Aerith's death made him sad because he was partially to blame for her death and he never got a chance to mourn her passing in FF7 proper.

Nice interpretation. But I remember in the original, it was stated that of the two experiments (being zack and cloud) one wasn't suffering from the effects. Zack was fine. I think the memories flashing in the final battle were more likely from his injuries fighting. Zack was dying in the fight and that's why I believe the limit breaks weren't working. They were kind like his life flashing before his eyes as he was dying.

Somebody didn't go back to the lab in Shinra Mansion in disc 3 of FF7! You see Zack's death in the original game too but it was kind of a secret extra hidden scene you had to go out of your way to find. It's only available after Cloud remembers who he is.
Expect it to go down more like the original game and less like this. This is overdramatic. The original had them avoiding any conflict since their escape and just outside of Midgar they ran into a small pack of random shinra guards which caught them off guard. Zack wasn't strong enough to take them on after practically dragging cloud. In the compilation games, there are many members of soldier that are nearlly Sephiroth level. In the original game, NO ONE was Sephiroth's equal. No one was anywhere close. Zack sure has hell wasn't. After all, it was him that was being carried by Sephiroth on the way through Nibelheim. Zack was just a dude that went through soldier training and Mako exposure. He was better than your average grunt, but not excessively so.

I always remember when I finish this game , I was hiding under my pillow with my PSP (it's a time I really suppose to go to sleep as a student). I just go to sleep sad and crying. I would say it's really the first time a video game actually make me so emotional. Throughout the years there are games like Uncharted and Assassin's Creed that really made me feels. But Crisis Core will always be my top 1
I was 12 when I first played this . I was in love with genesis and aerith lol . I cried like a baby when I want strong enough to save Zack . . . I ducking love final fantasy . RIP ZACK
Even after all these years this ending still brings me to tears. Zack became my favorite and having to finish the game knowing he was gonna die was hard.
It hit so hard when the last Modulation Phase before his death was just the face of Aerith with everyone blurred out. In his death the only person who he could think of was his beloved one.
This man spent a whole year dragging a half comotose friend across an entire planet, then gave his life to protect said vegetable friend. All while having a woman he loved to return to, what a fucking legend. Zack is the real hero of this universe. A truly good man.
All those years later and no matter how many times I've watched it - it always leaves me weeping. Such a beautiful and heart wrenching ending. How Zack died sacrificing himself and never got to see Aerith. And that song doesn't help at all.
I think it's worth pointing out that one of the people who Zack remembered in his final moments was SEPHIROTH. Sephiroth, who despite burning a whole village and nearly killing Zack, was still his hero. Sephiroth was a strong inspiration for Zack and was everything Zack wanted to be (with the whole Hero thing and all). And I think that's one of the great things about this game is that they added something new to Sephiroth. He wasn't just the all-powerful villain we came to know as the main antagonist of FFVII, he was more than that. He was a genuinely good guy, who, I might add, still wanted to save his friends. He wasn't born evil, nor did he really choose to be, he became evil after everything he learned (it's also worth pointing out that Genesis was the one to initially spill the truth to him). That day, something inside him just snapped. That's rather tragic if you ask me. Zack was right. He's not the Sephiroth he knows. That guy was a hero, and that guy was the one who Zack remembered in his last moments, not the one who would go on to kill Aerith later....
seeing as seph in remake seems to not be pure evil aswell and more like his older self again makes me think they will have some sort of talk down the line
Cried for a good 15 min. after I finished the game. I already knew he would die, and how. But seeing it and experiencing it took it to another level. The battle part was clearly intentioned to be quite emotional as you play. My heart broke. Great story telling. Why didn't cloud use Phoenix Downs.
Finally, finally this is getting a remake. Albeit we need to go through the same moments, happiness and sadness but we can see them in a new light while playing the remake.
Nothing can get better than this.. this ending is just masterpiece. The team made a great job in infusing the song as well. Well done, fans are very impressed!-and moved emotionally!!
I also played the game when I was a teenager and I was very emotional with the ending. It's beautiful to see Zack's story and the legacy he passed on to Cloud. Zack's last words echo strongly in my heart to this day. Last year I was a speaker for my undergraduate class, and the last sentence of my speech was this: "embrace your dreams and protect your honor like a soldier". I will never forget those words ... For me Zack Fair was an admirable man, a true hero.
Wow, I don’t ever remember how cheesy it got at 11:40, but damn up to that point it was absolutely heart wrenching. Reliving this moment again and it’s one of the most memorable deaths of all time...
It's actually baffling to me how people who are supposed to be FF7 fans didn't realize the scene in FF7Remake with Zack is LITERALLY THIS SCENE, SHOT FOR SHOT. Because of Cloud beating the plot ghosts, Zack's fate wasn't set in stone anymore. He survived and is now on his way to Midgard with Cloud. There are now two timelines. The original timeline where zack died and Cloud became who he is, and a brand new timeline where Cloud and Zack exist at the same time. And those two timelines are somehow intersecting, since Aerith could sense Zack in a completely different timeline.
Me, a whole adult man: Crisis Core can't hurt me anymore! I just finished FF7R! I'm ready! Crisis Core Ending: Me: still a grown man. Now crying in the corner of my bedroom at 1AM, thanking God there is no one to see my ugly tears. 😭😭😭

7:56 how much gunfire do you even need to finish off Zack lol. In fact, he wasn't even down after this. This is why I see Zack stronger than Cloud theoretically. Zack, a one man army while Cloud has a party in FFVII. Zack > Cloud. Anyways, I remember crying like a baby the first time I played this years ago. Still makes me cry now lol.
Cloud is physically stronger and more durable than Zack. His body could embrace the Jenova cells, unlike Zack. Cloud has a party because they are his friends and help him ti save the planet. It’s not like Cloud isn’t strong enough to blitz enemies like Proud Clod 😂
It's been years since I've played this and watching this still makes me cry. The jackpot system was totally weird but damn it pays off for the flashbacks.

Daniel Tinsley kh vs ff It really reminds me of Future Gohan’s death plus both death scenes have heavy rain in them and Trunks and Cloud both see there master die in front of them, the only difference is Cloud, didn’t go Super Saiyan.
Anas Naufal Yeah this. Clearly a lot happens offscreen. You can hear all of the slashing and gunshots. He also died making sure Cloud was okay. Wouldn’t call that going down as a wimp.
I hate the fact that after he died no one remember him after all his sacrifices but it doesn't mean I hate cloud. I love cloud and I understand why he forget zack. But I really love zack more than cloud. I love zack for aerith too😢.
And I'm still questioning what the fuck happened to his dead body. Did they just left him to decompose there or did anyone find him and bury him properly?
the saddest thing about his death is in 6:43: All people he knew disappeared from his roulette (forgot how it's called ingame) but Aerith. During his final struggle, his roulette tries over and over again to chose her, but it just can't. If I remember correctly, that roulette symbolizes who zack is thinking about, and thus he executes the accoding limit. This just shows that he went thinking about his girl. Sadge
I love how in Reunion, the helicopter missiles/bombs gradually do more damage as the fight progresses, eventually able to oneshot you at 99,999 down to 1 HP. It's like the game is saying "drop dead already!" Unless this happened in the original, feel free to fact check me on that x3
One the biggest hitters of the final battle is who the battle ends with the DMV staling on aerith. Because it shows Zack was thinking of aerith in those last moments and the fact when you get three aeriths you get a full heal.
Rick gomez does a much better job than Caleb simply because he sounds like he's dying. Caleb's performance of this scene sounds like he's tired, Rick's sounds like he's using his last breaths to talk to cloud
I agree, although I do think Caleb improved a fair bit since the remake, I did warm up more to him after playing Reunion, but Rick was really just perfect for the role.
It was so heartbreaking to see this scene for the first time, and to realize that you couldn't win the fight. I'll admit, I still cry when I see the ending
When people say prequels suck or never measure up I always think of Crisis Core. This is a shining example of a prequel only giving back to the source material and adding so much more meaning.
This is similar to the History of Trunks; Future Gohan left Trunks to fight his final battle alone and died then when Future Trunks woke up, he found Future Gohan's body in the rain.
Even at deaths door he had enough strength to hold up that massive buster sword. It took a literal army to stop him.

Obito xshinobi the remake focuses on Midgar only, we didn’t know who Zack was until wayyy after that section in the original tf you mean it wouldn’t feel the same? 😂 why are you fanboying hard over him lmao.
I’d say Genesis is more underrated
Isn't Zack one of the top 5 final fantasy protagonists? Either way it's hard to believe some people prefer to treat crisis core as non canon
its the other way around, there would be no zack if theres no cloud, zack just spawned creating a deeper character for cloud, even zacks appearance is based on clouds old concept art..
Sure Aeriths death was really sad, but this was the death that truly broke Cloud.
thats cause by aerith's death, hes been broken for a long time
@@rodanandme Good point. Let's forget that Aerith dies in FF7. Zack died in crisis core, the prequel to FF7.
@@LCardosed92 Again Cloud is partially to blame for Aerith's death, that's why he asks for her forgiveness. While he's not to blame for Zack's death which is why his grief regarding.

Yes Zack...we will all say that you indeed became a hero.
He was always a hero. Right from the beginning.
Zack was suffering Mako poisoning for the entire escape arc like Cloud. Zack's Limit never went off because his Limit Breaks are based on his connections to people. He is slowly forgetting them that's why they vanshied off the wheel except for silhouettes and he tried the hardest not to forget Aerith at the end. Can you tell?
This was so Epic end
Nice interpretation. But I remember in the original, it was stated that of the two experiments (being zack and cloud) one wasn't suffering from the effects. Zack was fine.
I think the memories flashing in the final battle were more likely from his injuries fighting. Zack was dying in the fight and that's why I believe the limit breaks weren't working.
They were kind like his life flashing before his eyes as he was dying.

@@minnick66 disc 3

Hot take: Zack's death was alot more emotional than Aerith's.
I felt nothing when she died
Not really a hot take.
I think I kinda had no emotion for her after the. “He probably ran off with other girls so he never came back.” Which was fucked up to say about a guy who tried to get back to if even before this game became a thing. The worse part about even after he died she felt it when he was at death’s door so it’s even more fucked even after the game. She didn’t deserve it but saying the guy was just a player and you had a feeling he died was kinda of horrible a thing to say the least.
@horriblepancake the OG PS1 graphics didn't really help either. No disrespect, obviously the technology was way more limited back then, but the development team could only do so much with the whole "8 Bit graphics" thing. No I just cried my eyes out anyway, this scene is burned into my mind and heart. It is absolutely beautiful

Well you sound tired when your dying
Zack’s death always have me crying like a baby…
Then i have to go see aerith die to make myself feel better.
It always broke my heart Cloud DID forget.
It was so heartbreaking to see this scene for the first time, and to realize that you couldn't win the fight.
I'll admit, I still cry when I see the ending
There is a saying in Poland. 'No one is born a Hero, You become one.' Thank you Zack.
Facts both are really heartbreaking
I think zacks death is even sadder than aeriths if you play crisis core. I really liked him as a person, always cheerful and honest
damn homeboi just wanted to see his girl ;;
"you'll be my living legacy" (but this doesn't mean you have to steal my girl smh"
Just came from the new Crisis Core game trailer.
Ready to cry all over again.
