How did Bandai Namco mishandle this so bad to the point of being in a money pit? Just listen to the fans and release the game they want. Amazon didn't do any favors with getting a global released hyped with their insistence on censoring the game either.
I think the monetization is what ruined it. They copied PSO2 NGS too hard and that game is a dying game too that barely makes ends meets assuming they're even making money on it and not losing money. It's terrible. People across the globe are getting tired of microtransactions and skins and gacha. It's getting boring, we just want to have fun.

It was their 2nd most profitable game in Japan and 4th globally.

PSO2 also gets a ton of Collabs, Code Geass one on now, and they announced one for Eminence in Shadow later in July. SEGA may have their daft moments, but the Collabs are not one of them.

Even if they go subscription unless u have like millions of people playing your game every month it ain't gonna pay the bills sub only works if u know your game is worth a sub
And box price doesn't work on games that keep getting updates every so often
Box price is for that game u get on steam that u play it from begging in to end
Not a game that will get updates for years and years to come

These companies are hopeless. The community tells them what we want out of a game, they ignore it, and then are surprised when they don't make money. Not only that, they continue to release games first in their home country for a fraction of the profit they would have made if they released it globally to begin with.
Which is funny because they love stealing money grubbing tactics and schemes from other games but won't bother to steal/implement the one thing that actually requires a minimal amount of effort (global release and updates). It isn't 2002 anymore where youtube doesn't exist and it's new to gather information on the internet. Asian game companies still treating NA/English market like 2nd class citizens in 2024 is wild.
1. Make a game F2P
2. Let microtransactions only have cosmetics and absolutely nothing else
3. Make the gameplay fun and focus on team play so ppl can and are encouraged to play together
4. Profit.

there's practically a number of gacha with $5 monthly-daily log-in packs, that's still $5 per account.

Being a new mmo developer is such a gamble. And it doesn’t HAVE to be a gamble if they just listen to the players and not censor their games because that is just an automatic failure already.

@@doodoodoo1366 idk bout that one cuz havent seen it, but last time i saw any kind of dev live stream from them was when they made either new classes or reworked some of them(dont remember which one), which they did a livestream showcasing them and mfs didnt know themselves what the classes did and how to use em lmao
@@doodoodoo1366 I've been watching them via a ytuber that translates them live, and honestly, feels like they see the feedback and simply ignore it and do whatever, the game still has a bug since release that makes all enemy AI freeze if there are too many entities present, making dungeons simply pointless grinds, simply run aggroing all enemies, wait at the end and start spamming skills safely because no enemy will attack you due to the bug.
This has been since release. Other issues like being suddenly disconnected if having a slight sync issue or network hiccup, boom, kicked from dungeon, and even maybe temporarily banned.
And the balancing is simply terrible.
I could put a list here and i would need several comments due to length limit.
The game is not fine, still lacks a lot of content, I've seen open alphas of games with more content than BP, the game clearly needs a new director and a massive rework in so many aspects that isn't even funny.

Then you said the game lacks content, what more do you want? You got missions, dungeons, shoot even housing now. What lack of content are you referring to? The devs have added so much stuff I can’t even remember all of it to say in this comment.
its not about then knowing how to develop the game. they’re amazing developers actually like did you even see the gameplay? it’s more so that they do not know what to do with their game in terms of handling the game wews.

If it was any publisher other than amazon the game would have been out a year ago. Their insistence on talking a full year to censor and localize the game played a massive part in its death. Amazon needs to shut down their game division and stay the hell away.

This could have been a money printing machine, if they just followed the simple formula of oppai, fun combat, and fun exploration. But no, they had to chase the mythical "larger audience" and this is what it has got them. Self-inflicted .

@@jorgemurilo6456 The problem was BP being a poorly designed game and dog shit netcode. Imagine this, if there are too many attacks done, so i.e. dungeons or raids, the mobs stop doing anything, and you can get DC'ed booting you out of the instance. A ping spike and you get booted. That shit isn't yet fixed, and they probably can't fix that. That's just one issue plaquing this game.
I wish this game was released in the west, but in its current state it'd be dead in a matter of months if not weeks.

And entirely hypocritical at that, given we have some of the lewdest games being released by western developers that hate eastern sexiness, and some of the most gory games being released by eastern developers (mostly Japan) who hate western violence.

Wow how unexpected, I legit said this 1 year after it was announced and ppl back then flamed me so hard, it was obvious this will flop, they failed to ride the wave, all that hype was taken by Genshin and they weren't even planning the release at that point. i have been following blue protocol news, i think one of the main reason is their skins are just not look good enough to let mos ppl spend money on, its so weird since their main income is skin gacha and they are making poorly looking skins

I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. The only thing that might save this game is if a different publisher picks it up but I doubt that's going to happen. I'm pretty sure we're not ever going to see this game in the US.
When it comes to Video Games specifically, you can count on Bandai Namco to fuck everything up and if they manage to release a game, expect it to die within a year or 2.

The only reason Amazon Games is not bankrupt is because Amazon is not a games studio, its a hobby. Amazon will most likely never succeed at gaming as their management structure doesn't support artistic creativity.

When there was server stress test in KR like 7-8 months ago, JPN server was already not doing well and is still struggling through 1 year anniversary.. so I think it is reasonable to see why they are pulling back.
Strange since I just saw a post covering a massive update for Blue Protocol. Super disappointed as this was something I was looking forward to for at least six years now. They made a lot of mistakes that needed fixing, but they seemed to be doing okay at addressing such.

They're so out of touch. Why would they even compare it to Elden Ring? Elden Ring is the Antithesis of this game. It's an open world Action RPG just like BP yes, but it has 0 microtransactions. I repeat it has 0 MTX, and BP has well way too many.
Tbh might as well their other games like godeater and that one vampire game with anime artsyle that feels more like an mmorpg tbh

Then they need to ask themselves the hard questions. What does ELDEN RING have that BP doesn't? First off, it's a feature complete game, it understands its target player base. Just right there. They could fix BP if they changed their monetization and took a year or two and added everything every other MMO has. But BAMCO cares about how to squeeze money out of ppl and not players first.
How FROMSOFT has held them off for so long is beyond me.

I will not lie. I almost want to shed a tear or two. I was really looking forward to the global release of BP and now that its never coming is disheartening. I had so much hype for the mmo that it would be my second go to if I didn't feel like playing NGS for a while. Very unfortunate news.

Overall Bandai is doing well and I doubt it’ll close the Online Games sector. They’ll find a way. Amazon is still planning to publish the game and even the JP team made mention in the interview with Famitsu that Global
is still in the plans to release globally in 2024. That could change obviously but as of right now 2024 is still the target. AGS is waiting on the green light from Bandai.

Honestly, after seeing how my region (Bangladesh) would be region locked, I've stepped off the hype train a long time ago. Not to mention, knowing who was handling the global release, I was already sceptical with how things will be on the long run.

Bandai Namco keeps ignoring what consumers want when they already have a near finished product the western audience is asking for. If Blue protocol released globally when it was released in japan, it would have similar success as tower of fantasy. Blue protocol and tower of fantasy (an already released game) has similar search rates on google trends. From what I saw of Blue protocol gameplay it seemed like an already completed product. Compare it to genshin impact and lost ark initial global launch, there is just as much game play and exploration in Blue protocol. Ofcourse you are going to lose hype when you announce 5 different launch dates months apart and not deliver anything globally.
I was kinda hoping for blue protocol but when we passed the first quarter of 2024 and I got no info about it I just assumed it was abandoned and I was sadly right 😢

It seemed pretty polished in beta. I'd be very surprised if they killed it altogether and didn't sell it or launch after bankruptcy.
