About the focus on hardcore players: I think this is a double-edged sword. While casual players are the majority of a game, those are also the ones that don't really care much about stats/doing well and have a much higher rate of just leaving and play something else, once they cleared the story. The hardcore players, who grind alot, care alot about the game and play frequently on the other hand, are also the majority of the people, who potentially spend money on things like battle passes, outfits ect. So I think trying to keep those players engaged and not get bored, makes sense since these are the most engaged players. The downside to that it will be harder to convert new casual players to core players since, like you said, endgame gameplay mechanics arent well explained and ruining other peoples runs or feeling useless is gonna discourage a casual player from playing that content. Combine that with little and low effort content updates and you loose player interest. If you see those 5% and take those suggested 1000-2000 active players, that means only 50-100 players are actively playing difficult endgame content together. It's probably going to be hard as a new player to even find groups, who accept newbies and casuals and teach them.
i want to mention that the reason some of jp player dropped it soon after trying it is the class system. jp players love to play into dedicated job and fully role play it. having it needing you to change class to fully play the game ruin the immersion for them. also the fact that you only get to pick 4 skills of each class kinda makes it feel not rewarding to grind.

PSO2/NGS cannot die as long as they keep up their cosmetic gacha and lobby interactions. Probably. The only way they'd be at risk is if another game had similar cosmetic freedom, not exclusive to paying customers and/or with actual gameplay attached.
People complain that miHoYo games are easy, but miHoYo at least knows that the vast majority of players are not tryhards. It's better to disappoint 2% than drive away 98%.
There's a reason why their game is still so successful after the initial boom. They know their audience, and they are not gonna bend down to the absolute minority that talks a lot but doesn't contribute and it's working still.

This game singlehandedly tanked Bamco. That company cant bank on From Software games anymore since they've pivoted to self-publishing, they killed Tales Of, their flagship RPG title and only has Tekken 8 right now. Sparking Zero has to do the heavy lifting after all this.
But hey, they still got iDOLM@STER... right? I'm really asking because they recently released Gakumas which I already declared to be dead on arrival because of the writers.

I still do not understand how bamco could’ve fumbled the bag this bad. Like, they didn’t really have to look far to see what a good MMO plays like as literally the 2nd biggest MMO in the world comes from their home country.
Exactly. As if FF14 2.0 and onwards doesn't even exist. NGS is still going despite all the bs SEGA is pulling off. And that's just the two (relatively) modern titles I'm aware of.
Great video! MMO content creators have been dooming this game for a while and never provided any detailed information on why they thought the game was bad. So thank you for taking the time to explain and provide examples of the issues in this game
You can't forget the casual playerbase. I play GW2 alot and will likely never touch raids in that game. Luckily, they focus alot more on other forms of content that don't require dps meters or highly coordinated teams to clear.

@@sebasstehfish5634 I'm kind of nervous about ZZZ especially with the complaints of the TV system being tedious but I heard they fixed that so the game is more roguelike.
As soon as I heard that amazon would be managing the global version of this game, my hype dropped by 70%. I had hope for this game since it looked fun and highly enjoyable for an MMO. Then, I saw the global version preview and all the censoring that had been done. Never before has my hype for a game been killed in such a way, even including mega-flops like Sonic Forces and No Man's Sky. I could technically still play the game through a VPN, but hearing that the JP playerbase is dying just makes me think that there's no hope for Blue Protocol. Such a shame.
A PC game could never succeed in the Japan, the market is not there. Bandai failed before they even launched. There's no way a PC launch would have provided them with the income needed to update the game.
Noelle spotted. That one friend of yours has good taste. Honestly, I almost forgot the game existed. Haven't seen any news since the first couple of months of JP release or so.
A complete shame. The worst thing about blue protocol is that all its most obvious problems are already known problems in the industry. The dev company had gold and apparently they are living under rocks because they did not see that they were making the same mistakes that have existed in the industry for about 2 decades now.
This game used to have so much hype around it, but they killed it off completely by the endless delays of global version and with the JP version even struggling now, I just don't think it will ever realisticaly release here....
I forgot this game existed, but I've been completely out of the sphere of MMO's and general PC gaming for a long time. There was a time when I was rather heavily invested in BDO, and I spent a lot of time learning the combat for my particular class, and this was something you HAD to learn to sanely grind for experience. Watching you demonstrate how people usually level to max was disheartening.
The bugs and unoptimization was definetly something that made me distance from playing much, I've played JP consistently since release and everything you stated is 100% true. I personally still love the game but the lack of stuff to do is underwhelming. Graphics are still really awesome same with the gear system imo. Great video overall !
me and my friend were so excited for this game but he lives in germany and i live in JP and the moment he got banned multiple times just from playing killed the game for both of us
Sounds like the game is missing content for midcore players, a sort of middle ground between the hardcore and casual players. With such a big gap between the content meant for hardcore raiders and the rest of the playerbase there should be some sort of content that requires a bit more than mashing all your abilities mindlessly but not so much skill as having a full understanding of buff timers and class rotations, kind of like how FF14 does normal raids and trials that require paying attention to boss mechanics and doing enough damage but that are lenient enough that someone without too much knowledge can still queue it and have fun. Content like that gives players that aren't super sweaty something that is still engaging/requires more thought than most of the game without requiring them to be at the most hardcore level to enjoy it while also giving players that might be interested in more hardcore content an easier to digest gateway. I also think it'd give the people that find the casual content way too easy and the people that wish the game wasn't catered to the hardcore playerbase so much something they could both enjoy since it's not so hard that a casual can't beat it and not so easy that someone who wants something intense isn't bored to death. Or maybe I'm completely off base, I just wanted to give my two cents on what I took away from the video and give you a comment for the algorithm, I really enjoyed this video/perspective and wanted to boost it a little ^^ wishing you the best
it was lacking on all fronts... not just mid or hard lol the casual might have just not even existed at all because every single goddamn thing was pay walled or would take you months if not a year to obtain cause of how little they gave a shit about their players lol and they banned us "Gaijin" players cause they didn't want us to embarrass them at how bad their handling of this game really is lmao and to be fair i didn't hate the combat or the aesthetics but i did hate that the rewards were absolute shit for free players which unfortunately most gaijin are forced too be cause of the strict banning.

Wow 🤯. This video is eye opening for this game. This is one of my most anticipated game for years!!! But it’s a bummer to hear all the issues. I haven’t followed in a long time and sad to hear it’s struggling. I wonder if they should add more open world content?? Like Genshin? Maybe players would like that idk. The dungeon farming doesn’t sound very fun though I didn’t expect the game to be doing that on the daily basis 😕 sort of kill my excitement lol
my big issue with bp (played jp for 8 months or so), was as you mentioned lack of meaningful things to do, but beyond that social aspects of game were lacking. Monetization was way to aggressive, gasha's were just very expensive, entirely rng which outfits you got, pity system was basically only for whales, and the pity currency expires! (I lost like 9k BPP lol when was saving for new years stuff and planned to maybe pull) To cap that off, there's no trading, no economy, which makes skins and customization even worse, combining outfit pieces to make fits you want to wear is a huge part of games like PSO2, and social mmo's. Having virtually no way to do that besides 'collect everything and horde' is just a horrible model. imo should have been a auction house using premium currency for outfits and pieces, mounts etc so could recoop loses or even sell goods that are rare from several banners ago, or just even a specific pair of shoes from few banners ago etc. Its completely ridiculous and anti-player way the game was designed. That was one of the big sticking points for me, its sad cuz i loved the enviroment, and was engaged with story but they really fell down live service slop rabbit hole :(

Amazon as publisher really such a letdown for me, the purge of the foreigner players on the early days make me gave up on it. PSO2 may be content drought but they can be compensate with non demanding class system, variety character customization, creative space and photo mode.
As a PSO2 player who had to sit through a bunch of try-hards telling me how AMAZING THE HIT NEW MMO BLUE PROTOCOL WILL BE... I'm sorta vindicated on this lol
Any game that has a region lock on release is a game I wont care about, ever. I had an interest, but they killed it after a JP-only release. Even a secluded country like China does global releases these days.
and they have so many massive IPs under their belt: biggest one is genshin obviously, followed by tower of fantasy, star rail, then wuthering waves, recently zenless zone zero, soon azur promilia, the new neverless to everness game teased a day ago. don’t forget the games that came before like honkai 3rd, punishing gray raven, azur lane all these devs are improving and making crazy revenue. There I listed 10 different games! Absolutely Crazy
Bandai is the reason Japan is getting Out-Anime'd by other countries in their own export of Culture (by that I mean, making Anime style games, literally everybody started doing it better than Japan, esp China). Because, for some bloody reason, they have their grubby little hands in allll of them over there, and they suck.

Yep, even if the game itself was amazing I wouldn't have played it with Amazon games.
ok but this isnt a fault with amazon, its a fault with the game as it is... amazon hasnt done anything to touch the jp version

I was so excited for this game the last few years but I honestly forgot this existed till I saw ur vid
i want to mention that the reason some of jp player dropped it soon after trying it is the class system.
jp players love to play into dedicated job and fully role play it. having it needing you to change class to fully play the game ruin the immersion for them.
also the fact that you only get to pick 4 skills of each class kinda makes it feel not rewarding to grind.
4... skills? Is BlueProtocol a PC MMO or Mobile game??
@@lilblkrose pc

oh and you also cant decide the order of skill lvl up so for every skill you ddnt want is wasted exp

Man. I was extremely hyped about this game and that was when my friend used to live in the same country as me. Now hearing this makes me sceptical to really put that much time and effort in this anymore. I'm absolutely devastated that this is happening to BP..
wow, i feel better playing pso2ngs after watching this video.

My eagerness to play died long ago, all the wating. This happened across my feed & though I'd give it a watch, nice vid.
This game singlehandedly tanked Bamco. That company cant bank on From Software games anymore since they've pivoted to self-publishing, they killed Tales Of, their flagship RPG title and only has Tekken 8 right now. Sparking Zero has to do the heavy lifting after all this.

Bamco being Bamco is no surprise
I still do not understand how bamco could’ve fumbled the bag this bad. Like, they didn’t really have to look far to see what a good MMO plays like as literally the 2nd biggest MMO in the world comes from their home country.
the moment when BP locked my region on steam....i already forgot about it.
Let's take note of every success MMO in our country and not do any of that
Exactly. As if FF14 2.0 and onwards doesn't even exist. NGS is still going despite all the bs SEGA is pulling off. And that's just the two (relatively) modern titles I'm aware of.
Yup People want mmorpgs it’s the devs and producers that don’t seem to understand that we just want real mmorpgs not pay to win garbage
Great video! MMO content creators have been dooming this game for a while and never provided any detailed information on why they thought the game was bad. So thank you for taking the time to explain and provide examples of the issues in this game
Great video man, very informative
actually haven't heard any news about the game since forever
You can't forget the casual playerbase. I play GW2 alot and will likely never touch raids in that game. Luckily, they focus alot more on other forms of content that don't require dps meters or highly coordinated teams to clear.

Bandai and Amazon are one of the worst possible mixes.
They simply have no clue and together they turn a sure thing into a sure fail.
Send this video to BP devs
rip game , damn the good old times when mmorpgs were fun are over .
Watching you demonstrate how people usually level to max was disheartening.
funny more pep in JP play BDO than this game xD
The bugs and unoptimization was definetly something that made me distance from playing much, I've played JP consistently since release and everything you stated is 100% true. I personally still love the game but the lack of stuff to do is underwhelming. Graphics are still really awesome same with the gear system imo. Great video overall !
My friend played this, from outside JP, and his account was banned. Good Bandai go protect your domestic ip address and sink with your little island.
me and my friend were so excited for this game but he lives in germany and i live in JP and the moment he got banned multiple times just from playing killed the game for both of us
Sounds like the game is missing content for midcore players, a sort of middle ground between the hardcore and casual players.
Or maybe I'm completely off base, I just wanted to give my two cents on what I took away from the video and give you a comment for the algorithm, I really enjoyed this video/perspective and wanted to boost it a little ^^ wishing you the best
it was lacking on all fronts... not just mid or hard lol the casual might have just not even existed at all because every single goddamn thing was pay walled or would take you months if not a year to obtain cause of how little they gave a shit about their players lol
and they banned us "Gaijin" players cause they didn't want us to embarrass them at how bad their handling of this game really is lmao
and to be fair i didn't hate the combat or the aesthetics but i did hate that the rewards were absolute shit for free players which unfortunately most gaijin are forced too be cause of the strict banning.
I thought this was going to be THE anime mmo that everyone plays but maybe not,
I legit didn’t even know this game launched
That was a good video. Thank you for the information and perspective!
While true that Japan loves their consoles, the biggest playerbase right now is the Switch; which doesn't have Blue Protocol.
BP was great at first after they making outside japan player not playing that game in jp server. which many that player outside japan leave then some fraction of JP player. the dev also didn't serious on the game and player end up quitting meanwhile pso2ngs they still retain outside japan player and keep them playing the game
I remember being excited for this game and I didn't even know it came out 😂
I didnt even know the game WAS released.
my big issue with bp (played jp for 8 months or so), was as you mentioned lack of meaningful things to do, but beyond that social aspects of game were lacking.
Monetization was way to aggressive, gasha's were just very expensive, entirely rng which outfits you got, pity system was basically only for whales, and the pity currency expires! (I lost like 9k BPP lol when was saving for new years stuff and planned to maybe pull)
To cap that off, there's no trading, no economy, which makes skins and customization even worse, combining outfit pieces to make fits you want to wear is a huge part of games like PSO2, and social mmo's.
That was one of the big sticking points for me, its sad cuz i loved the enviroment, and was engaged with story but they really fell down live service slop rabbit hole :(
100%. For how much inspiration they got from games like PSO2, I'm surprised with the direction they went with monetization.
@@acactoos yeah i was really expecting it to be closer to PSO2 and I think PSO2 nailed that aspect. just NGS flopped for many other reasons.

i was really excited for this game but only just recently realized it was bandai namco developing it. it'll be a miracle if it makes it to its second anniversary with how that company handles their games. it's really depressing. i just hope i'll at least be able to give it a try before it comes crashing down
everyone expected amazon to fumble the western release but the game is already dead in japan. i'll still give it a go once it comes to the west, but i doubt it will do well. since this is bandai they will swiftly shut it down once they realize no one cares about it in the west either
That game won't even make it to west anymore. You can bank on that.
The next news we hear from Amazon will be the cancellation of the release.
They should have never region locked. That hurt them the most.

the combat is okay, you first got 4 skills out of all skills you get, plus the alpha and beta skills are crazy to get (or beta, I think). After reaching end game I just did raids but then got bored. When I stopped I got my CP to the maximum possible number, right after spear got released.
