Okami was considered by many to be a Zelda clone, especially due in part to the title releasing the same year as Twilight Princess, and featuring wolf characters. Okami even borrow some design elements from the Zelda series, such as highlighted words to denote important information, multilayered dungeons where you had to acquire keys to progress and even challenge the boss, as well as having the plot shake things up after clearing a certain number of the dungeons. Of course, Okami managed to have a lot of things that made it stand out. Its combat was much more akin to the likes of Devil May Cry, which is fitting as both games were directed by the same man, HIdeki Kamiya. The visual style was woven into the gameplay, quite literally, with how the player could turn the screen into a canvas to draw on. Incidentally, Amaterasu even featured in a fighting game, though it was more of a traditional fighter than a Smash clone.
People start screaming when a similar game to a game they like comes out all the time. It's good to have *similar* games come out, like GTA and Saints Row. A game having competition makes the devs want to make their games better. I mean look at The Sims. That franchise has gone unchecked for a long time and the sheer lack of quality in The Sims 4 really shows it. Hopefully with some of the competition coming out, it'll light a fire under EA to fix the bugs in The Sims 4 and possibly make The Sims 5 better than their last. And *hopefully* we get more games like GTA or GTA 6 is going to be entirely shafted for Online just like what happened to 5 and we'll probably end up waiting 12 years or more (again) for GTA 7.

The thing I found funny about all the Saints Row GTA clone talk back in the day was that they were even more different back then. GTA used to have a much more gritty vibe to it, definitely satire, but it was pretty grounded. Saints Row's whole thing was to be an insane GTA. You want to use a VTOL jet to blow up ninjas? Have at it. GTA got more ridiculous with GTA 5, so it paints the older games in that same light, but honestly I'd argue that after the push back of GTA 4 and the success of Saints Row, they took a page out of Saint's Row's book and leaned into the wacky

@@JoshuaLodge2701yeah these people think gta having competition is a bad thing people don’t realize how bad gta not having a competitor is because gta can do whatever they want because there isn’t really a competitor for gta because it’s very unique. competitors make games have more actual good content and put more work in there’s more creativity because people will go the competitor if one game gets lazy there’s no real incentive for rockstar to actually get their stuff together or even put actual work in the content if they are monopoly because they are the only type of that game.
The Palworld stuff was dumb. It only got backlash from fans because it got so popular, there are so many other pokemon clones and no one went after those haha
Man I loved playing Saints Row the 3rd and Saints Row IV. I loved how Over the Top it was and IV was freaking awesome!!! Best superhero like game back then.
Absolutely! Did you give the latest installment a try?
@@gameranxTV yeah and it's a buggy, system crashing for me. They screwed up trying to change the formula. Seems like they fd around and found out
Was expecting Threes and 2048 at Number 3 :)
Fun vid!
@0:33 2003 is RECENT??
He meant 2023.
It's Jake bro, he's a bozo. He meant 2023, you should know this.
take me back to the days of halo killers & cod killers.. now we got everything glazing fortnite and pubg
ROAR! 🐅
I think Rockband demonstrated that you can get away with making a clone of an existing game, so long as you make it better. It was such a blatant ripoff of Guitar Hero, just with extra instruments and vocals added in.
And now there's Fortnite Festival, which is developed by the developers of Rock Band.
Saints Row was the GTA our parents never heard of. So it was the one we were aloud to play lol
This 💯 I always felt like I was going to get told off for playing GTA, saints row was safer and I didn’t get anxiety 😂
Anything: *exists
Nintendo: "That's it! I'm calling the lawyers!"
Regarding Genshin being a BoTW clone. Non-Nintendo gamers wanted something similar. A clone would always happen
Too bad it's a character of the month waifu game that slowly forces you to spend money for their insanely unbalanced characters.
And that's how we got Immortals Phoenix Rising.
too bad it's a kiddy casino
How would you define the difference between being a clone and just being a new game in a genre a previous game created like Saints Row and GTA?
Jake Dayz is not an Arma 3 mod. It started as the Arma 2 mod originally. Google searches and actual research would have told you that.
I remember Playstation All-Stars, yet nobody said a thing when Jump Super Stars/Jump Ultimate Stars was one of the first "Smash-likes" back on the DS
2003?
“good artists borrow, great artists steal.”
This has been going on for time, across all media every single person has ripped someones idea and tweeked something to suit,
saints row 2 is the best open world crime game ever created. better than gta games . in the end gta 5 did everything saintsrow did, "fun"
I still want an Xbox All Star Brawl. Smash and the PS version are so much fun
We wouldn’t mind seeing what that would look like!
@@gameranxTV
Master Chief. Marcus Fenix. Kameo. Who else should be in it?
'Big Rigs' was superb, a brilliant game! With some stunning graphics!......"Nurse! nurse!! I am talking gibberish again"
I would LOVE a PlayStation All Stars 2. If they made it a more proper platform fighter it could be a ton of fun with the characters they’ve added since the PS3 generation. Astrobot, Aloy, Ellie, Selene, and plenty more.
The tradgedy of PASBR is it looked like a clone, everyone thought it was a clone, but once you played it you realized it wasn't a clone and the audience kinda wished it was.
Child: "Mom, can we get Super Mario Bros?"
Mom: "We have Super Mario Bros at home."
Super Mario Bros at home: The Great Gianna Sisters
Playstation All Stars Battle Royale was one of my favourite games of all time (Raiden main here lol) and this game made me discover Smash Bros
I no longer have a PS3, but i want to buy one again just to relive the memories of playing that game with my friends all night
i know Jake meant 2023, but...
"This is more recent. This is from 2003"😂😂
Finally a c64 game... more retro please. It was actually really good!
that saints row 1 gameplay looked great
Number one is such a legend I've never heard of it in my life... And, my first console was an Atari 2600, when it came out.
I'm surprised that The Simpsons Road Rage didn't make this list. That game was such a blatant ripoff of Crazy Taxi that Sega sued over it.
Both were an absolute blast too. Many core memories with those games.
High-key Lies of P is pretty much a Souls clone
But I gotta say I really enjoyed it esp with the QoL changes they made to the formula
In the race genre there are alot of clones too!
We need a whole remake of Saints Row (the og one from the 360) for PC. Its a crime the first one is 360 exclusive
Dang that Giana Sisters cover goes, uh, hard. 😍
*0:33** 2003? TRY 2023 JACKASS!!!*
Christ, bro. Chill out.
@@breadcat1055don't tell him to chill out. It did not come out in 2003!
I believe that every single person, every single idea is based on other existent ideas. With that said, it changes everything if the game starts similar to other game but goes on and finds out its essence through patches, updates, etc. ❤🎉
fantastic content as always and as always dropping in my discord, hope you're having a great day and it is crazy how they are complete rip off of games it's so normal now, unfortunately again 176 million and grinding in GTA play it to it now do it, I do 👍👍🧑🎄
My drinking game of every time Jake says "but", i drink is running strong.
5 "but"s in the first 90 seconds. Gonna be a tough one.
I'm pretty sure that Elden Ring is a Dark Sols clone
Elden Ring and Dark Souls are made by the same developer. And if anything, they're both "clones" of Demon's Souls, which is also from the same dev.

Escape From Tarkov and Arena Breakout Infinite. The Battle state games sent their code to the developers of arena years before as apart of some collaboration effort on a different project. Arena breakout still has code referencing Tarkov characters like Killa
I'M MAD!

*EDIT*
I like that *gameranx* calls them "clones" instead of "ripoffs" in the title. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!
Hi Jake it's stu ,listen man with star wars outlaws is it gonna be released on xbox series S as well as xbox X ??? Can u please please let me know as am soo looking forward to playing this esp being an open world game and what's news on metal gear solid is it any good??
Okay, but a Cerberus with one pug head, one chihuahua head, and one shiba inu head is hilarious, though.
Old Saints Row was so good, I can't believe they blew it.
i like to think that in an alternate universe, the Giana sisters are the mario bros of their universe. Rats chase cats amongst allsorts of craziness. 😮😮😮
I love dis channel
the theme of giana sisters is a friggin classic. i remember waiting in the start up screen just to listen to it.
without clones we wouldn't have genres
The thing I found funny about all the Saints Row GTA clone talk back in the day was that they were even more different back then. GTA used to have a much more gritty vibe to it, definitely satire, but it was pretty grounded. Saints Row's whole thing was to be an insane GTA. You want to use a VTOL jet to blow up ninjas? Have at it. GTA got more ridiculous with GTA 5, so it paints the older games in that same light, but honestly I'd argue that after the push back of GTA 4 and the success of Saints Row, they took a page out of Saint's Row's book and leaned into the wacky
