It's friggin' insane having to remove the main board for a battery replacement instead of having a simple flex connector. Swear, sometimes makes me think that Apple has some mentally challenged engineers designing their products. smh
Excellent video. It's clear and methodical. Thanks! What was the adhesive glue that you were using before you put the screen back on? I could not make out what you said.
We are using b7000. Also you can use t7000.You can use adhesive tape, but make sure to get original pre cut version. Otherwise after sometime the screen will pops out.
Would this also help to 'reset' white dots (famous problem/design flaw) in screen? My battery is about 84% health and with that it has problems showing accurate battery statistics. For example it stays on 35% very long and jump to 10%. But still works fine and long enough so I am hesitant to swap. Also afraid for shitty workmanship.
This issue is with the design; replacing the battery won't fix it, but opening the device may help to clear out places contacts with the board. It may clear away while installing but needs to diagnose. Sometimes faulty lcd/connector may create this issue too.
The way they engineered this is a bit infuriating. The battery is clearly going to MOST REPLACED PART. So what does Apple do? They bury it under EVERYTHING and make it the hardest possible thing to get at. Like, c'mon Apple, you could _easily_ put the battery right at the top and made it a million times easier to replace...
These tablets are designed purely for efficient assembly. Their is zero thought on replacements as they expect you to buy new. That’s the real “green” message. Apple is fake in their green philosophy and highly anti-repair.
There is just no way to get the tool under the screen edge without totally scratching the metal... My nice rose gold ipad had no scratch on it until i try to get the screen started... It is flawlessly sealed, there is not even the faintest line anywhere for a shim to pry in.
I would turn on my iPad and only the Apple logo screen would pop up and will not go to the Home Screen. It will continuously turn on and off until it dies, but it can be recharged. Do you think this is a battery issue or a hardware issue?
If it's only turning on and restarting while plugged in but not without the charger, it's probably a defective battery or bad contacts under the main board.
This unit type of iPad with engineering has a screen flaw..The middle part of the screen near home button will get White screen blotches , every unit will get it...
Looks like it’s very risky to replace iPads battery where as replacing battery of iPhone 7 is easier. I’d rather send the iPad to authorised service centre to do that lol, that reminds me the same thing i did by taking out logic board broke iphone 7s antenna so not gonna do another disaster on iPads 😂
This product has to be the epitome of Apple's design philosophy on right to repair. The very last thing you remove is the only thing you need to replace, after multiple layers of glue. They are a disgrace to humanity. Edit - actually, that's not quite fair, you don't have to remove the camera.
Be careful with any pointed tools near those lithium batteries. They are easy to be punctuated and cause a terrible fire. With such an old tablet it might be better to use an external battery instead. Just my opinion.
Very well done. A comprehensive guide on the process.
Much appreciated!

You do not need to disconnect the antennas or the speakers just the 5 snap connectors.
Great video, thank you. My iPad Pro 10.5 is back to normal!
Glad it helped
The video is good, however the finer details are too small in the video to understand properly. Close ups of the connectors would be very useful.
Thanks for the suggestions

how much time needs the screen on the heat pad and how much temperature?
Starts with 80c - 100 for about 2-3 minutes on edges, After that go with 1 minute intervals.

The design is quite hard to repair
That's called planned obsolescence, they do it on purpose
We all know why. So you’ll buy a new one instead of replacing the battery

At least they have fake carbon zero meetings in their commercials 😅
ive done everything right in this video, after my repair the rear camera is the only one not working. how can i fix this guys?
Most probably a loose connection. Did you double checked it?
I have a low battery sign and it keeps rebooting. If I do a battery replacement do you think it will work
Well you can try, sometimes it is a board issue too. But changing battery is needed too
@@DIYGeardo I’ve just changed the battery I’m still getting the same bootloop
@@DIYGeardo do you have a mail in service
If I tried that the iPad is guaranteed to never work again.
it is little hard, Yes, but possible
Wish me luck, I’m about to try in 15 minutes 😂🔥

I just use clear tape to hold the front panel on, every so often I'll have to change the packing tape.. works fine

kind of yes
thank for the video

I recommend everyone to replace connector & home button too, because these parts are very cheap and can also make trouble.
Thanks for your feedback
That’s insane. You have to basically strip the iPad bare to replace the batteries.
Yes, quite challenging ..
Why did he put back the old battery? I thought he was going to replace it.
Follow the steps and add a new battery. Thanks for sharing your feedback.
How much would be the price for a battery change of those iPads?
Am from the EU. I paid 40 EUR for a decent quality one.
@@baccarah7010you mean 40 eur only the battery or including the labor fee?
Apparently isopropyl alcohol will just dissolve battery glue and save a shit load of time.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Welcome
Problem is where to find quality battery for it.
True, it is kind of challenging. Your location?
@@DIYGeardo any recommendation from Aliexpress?

It costs £99 for apple to do this with an original battery. It would cost more than that for the heat pad, tools and replacement battery.
In a way it is true, but now a days if you own a device, you must have a heat pad and tools kit.You will need it most of the time.
@@DIYGeardo Although, my device cost me about £1,000.00. I wouldn’t have the confidence to fix it myself either.
idiotic design
