Wow. Batteries are less than $50 on Amazon but this video convinced me that the $180 charged by a local shop is worth every penny. Thanks for this. There are some things I just shouldn’t tackle on my own.

No kidding. I just replaced a battery on my iPad Pro 9.7, and it was nuts. Thank God it worked, but for this particular model, I don’t think I will do it. I’ll gladly pay my local shop (which also offers a warranty) for this service.

Earlier this year, even Louis Rossmann, of the huge TH-cam channel advocating Right to Repair, defended Apple when they raised the price for battery replacements from $69 to $99. He said that Apple was one of the last companies to raise prices and that there is truly more involved due to water resistant measures that were implemented. Apple may have started the modern trend of anti-consumerism, but they are no longer the worst.
My iPhone 7 battery replacement a few months ago was complicated, but no big deal. I was wondering when things became more involved and it would seem that I have found my answer.

Thanks to EU law apple will soon be forced to make it easy to repair rather than having to deal with their weird and forced planned obsolescence

My brother refers to these non-DYI options as “just pay the man” to have it done by someone with the needed tools and experience…

watching this video it is quite apparent Apple engineers did their best to construct a device whose battery is nearly impossible to replace. Good job A$$le.

Well their goal is to maximize profits not make long lasting repairable devices 😅

Great info! I like the trick of reusing the original glue, and the important tip of inserting a plastic pick between the battery. When I've repaired my phones in the past, disconnecting het battery is usually one of the first things you do when you get the screen off.

Don't try it. I watched a bunch of videos, used the right tools, used a heat gun, was super careful, and have repaired and worked on other electronic devices. I broke the screen in the first ten seconds.

I’ve done 3 and it worked every time. I’m just looking at this to see if this model has any change I need to know. I never get to do the same one twice.

If you have a few plastic playing cards they slip into the space you make and keep it apart while doing the rest of the glue.

Does it work with further generations of iPad Pro 12.9 as well?

Did mine today and took the screen off without cracking it Thank God I bought the Battery but was sent the 1st gen now waiting for the arrival of the 2nd gen Battery then it fits all together hope it goes well I had to watch this 3 times sure I come back to refit it all aging and make sure I put something where the battery goes before I connect everything together aging bought a heat gun and tools, not for the faint heart hearted need to take it real slow its, not easy taking the battery off and the screen its slow Prosses but can be done if your alert and focus make sure you don't eat anything before you take on the job and go for a long walk or run first that's my advice to you if it your first time. there are two small wires for the lift and right speaker which the above video does not show this in the video so take extra care and take extra care around the battery connector that goes on the side of the base not to damage it take it nice and slow I use the super glue de- bonder for me to pry the battery off with a syringe. the first day I took the screen off, and the second day I started on the motherboard and Battery then left it till the next day to put the battery in as I was waiting for the delivery. Battery! I bought it from eBay then I put it all together. Just have faith that it will work. when I unscored the battery connector I notice the connector was not connected to the battery the one on the side in the middle maybe that's why it went powering up anyways as I took it apart I might as well change it to starting the job it was running low the battery come today took me 2 hours to fir the motherboard it wasn't allied with battery connector so had to take motherboard off and put back correctly and alien the battery connector
it was hard to do Itunes is not recognized. the iPad, went before I change the battery so I think its the charging port that needs changing not sure though! screen at the back lights up but no apple logo very disappointed as the above video is not for an iPad 2nd gen but the 1st gen when I was trying to do a DUI it got stuck on the base lifting it up and down a few times I also damaged the screen a few lines on the side so upset now I need to change the the charging port and see if that sorts the charging problem as issued will not recognise the iPad.

Should we make battery calibration after we install the new battery?

Yes, Charge to 100% then let go down to when Ipad shuts itself off. Then Charge to 100 again. Was advised to do this by authorized Apple repair when they replaced battery on MacBook Air for New batteries

If you are watching this and interested in repairing your own device please be careful with the battery. The way shown in this video is exactly how you start a chemical fire.
