Segamat is known for its durian, as well as a pork chop shop opposite econs save and Lou shu fun at koko tree restaurant. There is also nice bah kee teng native to Johor behind the econsave supermarket. These shops don't really have good signage but are very local. The church and main mosque are at the old town near the Segamat Castle along with the crown jewel monument and fountain.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail of the video, It did kinda pre-define what my view of the place was going to be. Of what we saw yes, this seemed like a town / city where people just stopped off en-route to sone where so it did fit it's purpose, which was why the hotel prices were at the price they were. Was good to hear the history of some of the spots though, thanks for that.
Stu, Batu Pahat is the birthplace of my wife and also my late mum. We go visit relatives still living there once every few years. The stadium is about 200 metres from my in-laws former house. I got married to my wife in that house 42 years ago!
Instead of the south-eastern tip of the entire continent. Lost it's luster after ban on goods bartering. At least check out the rock the town derives her name from and the place of worship next to it and the background of who is venerated. And perform a comparison to Beuwolf. Not the official narrative anywhere.
I used to visit my daughter in Bt Pahat until 2023. I hail from the state of Phg and I was not that impressed with what Bt Pahat has to offer except for its seafood and the famous Julie’s biscuit factory. Ironically the town is packed with Singaporeans every weekends I even had problems booking a decent room there. Perhaps they see something in Bt Pahat which I failed to spot
Sorry not impressed with you either. Personally I find BP's vibes wayyyy much nicer than Kluang. Just because you dont see the nice parts and dont enjoy all the delicacies hidden gems so its not yr vibes. By the way you dont seem to take note of yr viewers suggestion either. LOL😂😂😂 so be it...
I can only offer my opinion. I tried to find things to do online and even asked the guy fishing on what to see! My videos are always a day behind, so unfortunately when I do get suggestions of where to go and see things, I’ve usually left. 😟

I’m looking forward to going :)
Do visit Segamat. Rustic old town with lots of untold history as well as some nice churches, temples and mosques.
Most Johor towns have a crown jewel fountain. Segamat one is near the church, tangkak one is a bit further from town near a new park
I’ve just look at where Segamat is on the map. Might have to go :)
The street art certainly looks impressive Stu.
Plenty of it around! 🙂

When was the last time you visited BP?
@@olderbackpacker back in 2022
Fyi, I used to live in Kingston upon Thames in the 80's to the 90's - for 15 years.
First barber visit since Manila I'm thinking.
Wow! That long ago?
They call it a river, but it looks fairly static. More like an estuary.😁
Batu pahat is known for furniture making industries

Pilgrimage
Julie’s biscuit factory? I missed it?
@@olderbackpacker sorry it’s Munchys, not Julie’s’. Julie’s is in Melaka.
You said in vid you knew a little Malaysian but didn't say if man or woman had name.
Out of all places in Malaysia.. why do you choose to come here ?
I didn’t want a very long bus journey and it was quite close. I didn’t do any research so I just turned up!
Why did you not go here why did you not go there what country are in at present.😂
Not a 3 star imo, more to budget hotel. 3 star hotel deserved more than this.
Should have skipped Batu Pahat and gone to Muar, a much nicer place.
Yeah….. I guess so but I wouldnt have enjoyed the 3 star accommodation, if I hadn’t of come 😂😂
@ It’s a very Malaysian thing, they just pick a number
