Treatment for Nerve Pain

  • Nerve pain is a result of a breakdown in the “pain sensors” in the body. Generally speaking, nerve pain is when a normal everyday stimulus is inappropriately perceived by the brain to be a “danger”. This can create unexplained discomfort that can wreak havoc on someone’s life. Desensitization strategies is a way to introduce stimuli (in a gradual manner) to the body in an effort to train the nervous system to react appropriately. In this video, I will teach you how to “retrain” the nervous system.

    Hello, Dr Tara
    I’m 29 and I’m really happy I found your video. I was just told a little over a week ago that I had a lesion on my brain. I was then admitted into the emergency room, then the icu then to neurology room for more observation. Thank God my lesion is begin. However, they try to say my “events” like getting faint, couldn’t hold my head up ,going in and out of unconsciousness was all in my head. Like anxiety and mental health. But I honestly don’t believe that. I feel like I’ve been having bad nerve pains. I original thought it was like pinched nerve.
    However I get these sharp electric shock feeling when I try to sleep and I’m losing sleep because it also wakes me out of my sleep. I am getting in
    These sharp pains in my feet from time to time and numbness too here and there and everything comes in waves. I will be seeing a psychiatrist. But all I’ve been doing is taking Tylenol for the pain.
    I feel for the people in this comment section I can’t imagine dealing with this for years… I’m only on my third week with this it’s miserable and scary it feels like you are losing your ability to control parts of your body. For me it’s like I çan almost feel my body sending out those signals but maybe it’s not getting there fully?
    Oddly enough I’ve done a lot of these exercises on my own. I just wanted to test my sensitivity to different objects and I also do the hot and cold showers on a regular basis I don’t like super hot showers. I tend to take cooler showers or like warm but yes I did it back and forth. Ive touched and massages around my feet and legs with different objects I haven’t done the vibrations one though. But I honestly can’t pinpoint mine.
    Thank you for reading I know it was long.

      You need to get x-rays and a MRI to narrow down what your issue is. I had the same pain and thought I had a bad hip or an injured SI joint, but it turns out I don't have any SI joint issues or a bad hip. My x-rays and MRI came out clear for any real issues related to my bones or joints. My orthopedic sent me to a neurologist because there was a tarlov cyst found in my MRI. So make sure your doctor is checking for everything. :)

    Super Video again, Dr. Tara, so much educated insight. 💛💛 Two months after stroke my arm spastics kicked in and I was not able to get the arm straight. It remained at 90 degrees and stretching was super painful. Step by step over 5 months with daily stretching I got it straight again, but only with 4-5 times a day stretching. I used some of your techniques for relaxing like a warm rice/sand bath, warm and cold water baths, gently stroking the arm with a towel and what we call the hot roll. ⭐⭐

The pain was unbearable. I almost could not survive the pain it was very close. I was moved by my family to AZ away from them but it has saved my life. I do not have the feeling of pain as you described, but after more intense leg exercise or longer walking I have a feeling of arm and shoulder fatigue, the same is true in the opposite case after arm exercise, a feeling of heaviness and fatigue in the leg. The most effective after a light massage is lying down - stretch out and after 10-15 minutes it disappears, I think the sympathetic system resects. Thank you so much

      I had that kind of fatigue type pain for about a year…..turned out to be Claudication,..from blockages in my arteries in various places. Please get checked out. My cholesterol was PERFECT…No issue there so when they said I had a blockage, I was shocked. I had a clot in my foot that ended up costing me my big toe(amputated). Explain exactly how your pain happens and when. My upper thighs would stop me in my tracks after walking about a 1/2 city block. They would hurt terribly with a burning like you get after exercise. Turned out to be Peripheral Artery disease.
      I have chronic nerve and musculoskeletal pain also…😖, a separate issue.

      @darkodarkovic7827 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe I didn't express myself well, I don't speak English well. It is not pain but a feeling of fatigue in the muscles, the doctor says that this is a common reaction due to weakness in the affected muscles due to a stroke. With daily exercise it disappears. I'm sorry you're having the difficulties mentioned. Your problems are not related to cholesterol but to homocysteine, let the doctor explain it to you because it's a long story. Regards

    Dear Dr. Tara, I enjoy an appreciate your videos. they are helpful. Just a small correction to your comment on choice of Doctors in Canada. We can choose pretty well any type of medical specialist that we think can help us. Usually we "get there" through our family GP, who acts a a bit of a gatekeeper to insure that we are simply beating the bushes, and wasting the time of the specialists. I do have a Thalamic stroke and have easy access to several Neurologists, a Cardiologist , etc ..

    Is neuropathic pain from back fixable? My mom started to get that pain from badly gone back surgery and she has like ants crawling in her feet, burning sensation and all kinds of pain and it hard to watch. She takes Lyrica, Ibuprofeiin and sometimes some other meds to manage the pain but still she is in a lot of pain. I would so much want to find a fix for her.

Surgery was successful but has left me with Neuro pain on the right side of my face, orbital socket pain and sensitivity in back of my ear and areas on the right side of my scalp. I will try using these desensitization routines. 😁 You’ve also reminded me to start moving and strengthening my hip (recent replacement/revision) I haven’t been doing them like I should because of my face/head pain. Doctors in US are the worst in the world. Doctors in us have told me that I’m going to live only 6 months if I’m not going to get the treatment they recommended me… then I went to Europe to an third world country and doctors there told me: you are not going to die and you don’t need that therapy that US doctors suggested me. I chose to believe doctors in Europe and it’s been 7 years and I’m still alive. When you go to doctors office in Europe, first they take care of you and help you. Doctors in US first they ask you for medical insurance or if you don’t have it they ask you for your card…if you don’t have one of them; you will die.
    Sorry nothing personal, you might be a great dr. but this is the truth of America’s doctors.
