Allen Walker is the MAN. The whole circus aesthetic around him fits him so perfectly. He is the "Clown" trying to make everybody's life happier even having lived through a miserable one. And the whole world around him is the "Circus" , where you don't know if you can trust anybody now. It's not simple good vs. evil, rather everything is "Gray" now where every character has different reasons and motivations. Hoshino crafted a masterpiece of story and I really want to see through it.

@@noobthe1141 I don't remember all the details but I think the updates are slow because the author nearly killed herself from overwork before because the series' art-style is so demanding. So now her health is severly declined and she can't really work as much on it anymore, which is honestly tragic, the Manga and Anime industries are so fucked up...

Which is quite ironic considering when she came back from her first hiatus, she gave us an 80+ page chapter and her art style got more detailed. Even with the 4 chapters a year she still struggles and it's really sad seeing this happening because no one is willing to give her better conditions.@@janniswildermuth1499

Allen Walker is one of my favorite characters ever. PERIOD. He’s not my favorite shonen protagonist but he’s definitely high up on my list, as is D. Gray-man on my list of every manga I’ve read and anime I’ve watched 👍

One of my favorite moments in D.Gray-man was when Allen manifested his Sword, but I never knew why. Just after I watched Re:Zero and heard Subaru talking about him and Roswaal being two clowns at the mercy of fate, I realized why I love this scene: because everything has come full circle.
His Innocence evolves because of his emotions, foreshadowing that his Innocence can change under specific circumstances.
He meets a Noah for the first time and feels her heartbeat, showing that they, in another way, are like the Exorcists-humans with powers.
He meets General Yeegar, first as a strong exorcist and then as a broken man who has no chance against the Noah.
His eye evolves with the message "Go deeper into the World of Black and White."
He meets a Noah disguised as a human, revealing that the Noahs are more human than people think. He meets Suman Dark, who has fallen, showing him what could happen to him if he stops fighting. Then a Noah kills Suman Dark, but he accepts his death and doesn't become like Suman Dark.
He tries to restore his Innocence, but someone is missing. A level 3 Akuma attacks the branch, telling Allen how he was living for them. Allen realizes that he doesn't just fight for one side, but for both sides. While others may think it's a foolish choice, this essence is what makes Allen a fool, the Clown of God, the crowned Clown.
He fights against the Millennium Earl, reinforcing the idea that the two of them are just a pair of clowns on different sides.
And then Allen fights Tyki Mikk, unknowingly accepting the fact that he and the Millennium Earl are more similar than he thought. He creates a weapon to attack his true enemy-not the human, but the Noah within him, which is the weapon of the Millennium Earl. This further foreshadows the future connection between these two.
I'm always here for the D.Gray-man agenda.
And I'm really excited to see how the plot will be moving forward after peeking into Allen's history with Mana. Respect to Kanda with that Alma Karma callback on Allen too.

I remember reading the new releases, from weekly, to hiatuses, to the series transferred to a monthly magazine, then yet more long term hiatus, and THEN Shueisha placed the series into a quarterly magazine.
This series was what made me realized that quarterly magazines do exist.

D gray man is and has been one of my favourite manga series for many years , also Allen was one of my very first anime crushes. He’s such an amazing character that’s heavily slept on

Allen is such a wonderful written character with so much hope in such a dark and fucked up world. I know it's a joke but there is some truth in the statement that Allen walked so Tanjiro could run. Is he the first humble/hopefull/happy protagonist? No but he is without the doubt one of the best written ones.
Gintoki gets my pick. A badass samurai with not only a diabolical sense of humor, but a big heart while he’s constantly chasing that ultimate sugar high.

What makes Allen stand out said by many in the Manga and Anime industry giants is exactly what you explained: he has complex layers that are far more realistic and relatable. And it is shown organically and unexpectedly. I wish ppl were less eager to just be entertained with visual shock so they could absorb the intricacy of tis world and character. Everything is foreshadowed from Ch.1. Re reading does reveal new things relevant to current chapters.
One of my first mangas I read back in high school next to Bleach and FMA. I appreciate the love it gets even if it's not that much. I remember watching Chibi's video back in 2015 when the manga came back after a long time in hiatus. I started crying. Right now I'm not reading it. Only 4 chapters a year is kinda painful. At least it's still coming out.
I haven't read a chapter in roughly 3~4 years just waiting for the current arc to end to read in one go

For me oz from pandora hearts is currently the best shounen protagonist and allen walker second. But i highly believe when d. Gray man reaches its conclusion and so does allen he will become the best shounen protagonist ever
D grayman is likely my favorite anime though it never seemed like a particularly well known series. I also read the manga but it is forever ongoing at an incredibly slow pace. I'm hoping Hoshino is able to finish the story, and get help from other artists to greatly decrease the impact on her health.
DGM deserves so much more recognition than it gets. Bless you for putting the spotlight rightfully on Allen. Beautifully written and artistically unmatched, this will always be one of my most favourite anime of all time.

Lol, the disrespect on this series in comments from some youngsters😂 the manga was, for a substantial time, going on on par with the big 3 , although it never got as big and fell through. Still , the fact that it managed to attract attention during the golden days of 3 shounen jump mangas while being published in the same magazine btw, still has followers to this day and didn’t get cancelled despite everything - not just any shounen title can beat that. Not to mention it still even now some 20 years later sells pretty well, lol.
FMA , AOT , etc are their own beasts and are pretty iconic , still you can’t compare them to DGM, same as you wouldn’t compare Soul Eater to FMA, and say that SE is poo in comparison, that is just sacrilege.
And remember, guys, if Kimetsu ran at the same time as Bleach , Naruto and One piece , it would have probs be like DGM today, half forgotten and disrespected by newcoming manga lovers 🙃

Holy shit, D-Gray Man is one of those series that I often forget about due to the long hiatuses, but every time I come across the series again I'm reminded just how much I love it!
Here because D.Gray-Man talk brings me joy. No one ever seems to talk about it sadly so this is a nice surprise.
It is sad that the author suffers so much for her work. From what I understand, she fights for the rights of her work, and for compensation for her health. Tis unfortunate, that this cannot be completely verified due to the Woozle effect.
This is why some of us protest by pirating manga and anime because the creators and even animators sometimes suffer with what is meant to be their livelihood. It's sad because there is so much potential out there that is drained because of greediness.
No to mention her wrist injury inhibiting her from possibly ever finishing a story she obviously cares so much about

D grey man is a story i got to reread to see if i like better cause honestly the first half was cool but too focused on fights which hampered my enjoyment cause the fight panels were super hard to follow. But then around the time cross got killed and the mystery started building it suddenly became peak. But regardless, allan always been dope and i hope i can like the beginning better.

It was one of the first few anime i watched when i was kid during my exploration of the media.
Despite the poor quality of the video of the first episode i watched due to it being pirated and uploaded on youtube. I really enjoyed it.
The music had me hooked and the mix of despair and acceptance with hope just connects with me spiritually.
I'm the kind of person who would look at a catastrophe and go, it's so sad yet beautiful.
As evidence with my recent obsession with big explosions. The blast and destruction look stunning to me yet i feel the underlay of despair of the people's lives that were lost or ruined from the blast.
I'm like Junko from Danganronpa but i don't like inflicting despair.

When i first saw the akuma, it was sad yet so freaking cool to me. It was such a sick and twisted abomination yet i couldn't help but find it sad to look at yet feel the thrill that it exists in the world of d gray man.
When we learned about Allen's cursed eyes origins. It was despair enducing. Sad yet i still couldn't help the feeling of excitement.
Lala's story makes me cry but i still find it so incredibly beautiful.
D.Gray Man fits a niche that i am fortunate to be in.
I love it so freaking much but god damn does it take forever for a new chapter to come out.
Also, the mangaka is such a mood if i could i would also go outside in a box.

This series was one of my favorite as a kid. The world, the characters and especially Allen Walker…perfect. Great video, it brought me back, very nostalgic.
Gintoki is next level. Do yourself a favour and finish the show. The last 3-4 arcs are the most flawless I’ve ever seen in an anime
Watched around 30 episodes and dropped it. It was good at start but i started getting bored and i dont really find the humour funny most of the times.

I can't believe I'm only getting this video recommended now even though I'm subscribed. I love D.Gray-Man and I love Allen, he's easily my favourite main character in every single anime I've watched ever since I was a kid.
And you did summarise very well how his character has evolved and developed throughout the series considering there is still so much to know even though we have been with him since the first chapter.
It would be nice to have a reboot just to get new fans into the series but I'm also reluctant to that idea after the mess that was Hallow. If they give it the same vibe as the new Bleach season it would be fantastic!
I absolutely love D.GRAY MAN. The manga is such a wild ride. While at times it can be hard to follow, it has slowly become one of my favorites. The concepts Hoshino utilizes are mind boggling and unconventional and i love every second of it.

For me, it's Yusuke Yurameshi, Kurama or Hiei. YYH is the first Shonen I ever watched and is still one of my favorites.
D Grayman had such and interesting and compelling tone and setting. The exaggerated Victorian world was so well incorporated. Also I loved the Millenium Earl any time he said “Allan Walker” it gave me Serotonin boosts

I feel like his ideology of saving others will eventually save him in the face of Tyki, who seems to want Allen around and not the fourteenth, not just because of him willing to help Earl, but also in a more personal way now. Road wanting to help Allen too and Mana potentially breaking out of Earl might end up in an interesting ending where some of the Noah could be redeemed and the world in general might get a happy ending along with Allen

Allen walker and Yoh asakura are 2 of my favorites. They don't have the type A personality most Shonen characters do. They both are chill but go ape shit when their friends are in trouble. Not many people I talk to who watch anime remembers or know D. Greyman and Shaman King

I love d-gray man, it was one of my first big shonen animes and it spoiled me rotten in foreshadowing and subbtlesties in the story, the relationship between allen and the order, the relationship between Allen and the Noah, how allen fits in all these little nooks and crannies how he blends right in just to be faced with how different he operates to everyone else, i love d-gray man, and if the later chapters feels confusing it mostly had to do that they pull from little moments from previous parts to expand upon, which i found awesome, but also can be tricky to navigate specially on your first read
It's hard to let go of D Gray with this art, If your past self left you, I want to go back and make it right 🤛🗿

Gintama's the one series where I'd actually recommend the anime over the manga, since the anime just does so much creative stuff not possible
in a manga and it PULLS it off well. + the Music and Animation slaps.
