    The new map names are actually CG references! "Isla Estocastica" means Stochastic Island (ray tracing is a stochastic method) and "Quilez Security" is named after shader genius Inigo Quilez.

    I'm excited for the addition of new enemies in the game (although a part of me is still terrified that the developer might add those giant spiders from the showcase video, maybe for some kind of horror-themed mineshaft level or something). When I saw the earlier versions of the game, my first thought was how fun it would be to battle some kind of security/pursuer enemies in these destructible environments, improvising new angles of attack or collapsing structures to hinder your attackers. I'm intrigued by the robots being invincible; it kind of reminds me of the Terminator films, how you can't really stop them, but if you have enough firepower you can slow them down.

  • @LucasCarter2
    @LucasCarter2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +45

    You can actually pick up the robots from the behind and throw them into the water. If you pick them up from the front you can't really move them, but from the behind after stunning them with an explosion and they act decent light for movement purposes.

    The graphics in Teardown would work great for a sandbox game where you can mine. Or even some kind of Farcry type combat game or something.
    Imagine a city that's destructible, and NPCs will rebuild it slowly over time, and you can adventure in it or something. Idk. So much cool ways to imagine how this game could play.

    • @dagda1180
      @dagda1180 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would certainly find the mining idea to be worth looking into. Perhaps it can be built into a minecraft/motherload-esque gameplay, where you keep mining and going down, turning in ores and valuables for better gear and building resources, to either make yourself a prettier house/mess about, or make structures to more easily move over gaps and massive pitfalls.

      I've only ever had this problem before when playing Amid Evil (which I can run just fine) and when I got a new TV for my consoles. I managed solve the latter issue by lowering the contrast setting from 100% to 70%, before upping the gamma to get the image looking normal again. and of course, also look into FOV. 90 fov is generally as close to "real life" as it gets from a typical computer screen (depending on how the game renders FOV, at least). many people experience motion sickness as FOV goes below 90. and going higher is great for gameplay purposes, but can greatly distort the game and zoom out too far to see comfortably.

    I gotta say I didn't expect to like this game as much as I did for the same reasons you mentioned in the video. It seemed that the timed missions are just kinda too aimless and boring, but somehow the game really ties everything together well.
    The mission variety is pretty good and there's other things that I didn't expect to like as much as I did.
    The maps are really pretty and the strangely comforting lonely atmosphere paired with the surprisingly good soundtrack really sets the mood for those long 30 minute missions of creative problem solving.

    personally i felt like the whole speedrun type scenario being used too much is something that only applies to ch2. the maps are like 3x as big now, so all the time spent figuring out the path you're going to take is way more. also, the required objectives are now never ever placed in a convenient way to make a path. there are consistantly big heavy metal things blocking staircases, hard to figure out floor plans, objectives placed right next to eachother except with a 49 meter elevation difference, etc.
    then the robots.. oh boy
    if one pixel of you is visible then you have like half a second before machine gun fire. the robots are like attack choppers except on the ground closer to you with less bullet spread. they also _weigh_ as much as an attack chopper, you cannot knock them down or forcefully stop them without an explosion. is their AI good? maybe, idk, but they dont do anything i would call advanced (such as jumping through windows). its always just brute force methods. if you were thinking of trapping them, they can just bust through it.
    also, creative solutions (pushing by running over with car, blowing floor out from beneath them, picking them up with a crane) are all null and void in ch2. the robots constantly circle strafe, there is no vehicle on hollowrock fast enough to push a robot into water before the robot can dodge to the side, you just get lucky sometimes. the cranes wont always work because the machine gun bots can just immediately shoot you or the arm off of your crane. vehicles in teardown are suddenly in small supply, the decent ones are no longer common in ch2. the solution you have left is tossing a bunch of bombs and throwing the robots off a cliff with explosion knockback, and thats it. it's the least fun strategy and the only one that works consistantly.
    90% of my time playing was me not having fun
    that said though, i freaking love the new maps, i just wish they were utilized differently. and the ending mission is a very nice and funny way to end the game. i like ch2 but i think the gameplay needs to be balanced differently

    I would love for a special pc-killing mode that makes the destruction even more realistic, simulating load bearing and whatnot

    My only complaint about the new update is the final mission, it would have been cooler to have a big bad robot fight instead of whatever we got.

    So there is a jetpack that comes with the game (instead of a grappling hook) it can be enabled in the mods section (The game comes with built in mods that give you items like a minigun, jetpack, banana bomb etc. And also a few extra missions)
