    I'm gonna regret the day if/when Hollywood decides to remake Malcolm X for a younger audience. If they want Malcolm X back in theaters, just put Spike Lee's version back in theaters.

      Al received that award bc he didn’t get it for either GODFATHER film so the Academy stole it from Denzel and gave it to Al to make up for not getting it when he should have. Scent of a woman sucked! It was hollywood politics at its best and it felt like a slap in the face.

      @@thatsomalidudemudug868 You answered for me my brother. The Bible tells us that once a person dies, he knows nothing (Ecclesistes 9:5-6). Satan and his fallen angels/demons, being full of tricks, can make people believe that there is communication with the dead. They can appear as a dead person to lead people into perdition (2 Corinthians 11:14) . God alone has the power to resurrect the dead and He will do it at the appointed time when He will call all the saints/saved into life eternal, that is the first resurrection (Revelation 20:4-5). The second resurrection is for the enemies of God - they are the lost. Once God calls them out, they will be destined for the unquenchable fire until nothing remains of them, their names and existence to be forever forgotten. (Matthew 25:41)

      Glory to God. That he gave the deaf and dumb population of America the truth of Islam through the SPIKE LEE movie. MALCOLM died trying to reform America, black and white. His message of Truth of compassion ,truth of being righteous.still reaches out to those deaf and dunm Americans who want to reform themselves as Br. You listen to the "can'ts" and you don't follow your heart and next thing you know, you're 47 and it's too late to pack up for New York to seek your destiny. Your destiny already happened, now it's time to deal with it. I'm glad Spike and Pharrell know how lucky they are to do something they love for a living. So many of us out here, out we go to our shitty jobs and all we've got at the end of the day is a good movie to watch and a good song to listen to. I thank them.

    • @anthonyanderson9303
      @anthonyanderson9303 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      DeNiro is another example. I love actors who take the time to learn their craft and master it. Even Leo DiCaprio is like that as far as actors of this generation. It's one thing to just do an impersonation. Jamie Foxx to me for example was just doing a Ray Charles rip off. These guys become immersed in the role. That's what I wanna see.

    • @gbrobbey
      @gbrobbey 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anthony Anderson It's truly an art man. Without a doubt, there definitely is a difference between impersonating someone and being immersed in a character. Leo DiCaprio in both the Aviator and The Departed. I honestly think it's a crime Leo DiCaprio has not won an Oscar for Best Male Actor yet. I wonder which person in the Oscar Committee that has piss in their Apple Jacks to just not vote for this guy...

    • @anthonyanderson9303
      @anthonyanderson9303 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny thing is you can tell Leo is at the point of his career where's like "I'll be damned if I don't get an Oscar" cuz all his roles lately are those what I call "award" films. I thought he should have at least got nominated for J. Edgar, he was spot on in that role. Now he's in Wolf of Wall Street, he may get nominated for that. And you're dead on with the Aviator, he was amazing in that.

    When I was a kid, I had a girlfriend who's mother took me & her daughter to Henry Street Settlement (A Theater) to see a play called "When The Chickens Come Home to Roost". it was a Play about Malcolm X (in discussion with Elijah Muhammad) concerning his famous quote, that the play is titled after.. it Stared: Denzel Washington.. LONG BEFORE I saw him in a Hollywood movie... He was EXCELLENT. When they were doing all they could do to get the Malcolm movie done.. during the stages when they 1st thought they were going to use Norman Jewison.. & Spike said "a Black Man needs to be directing this".. I immediately thought "GO GET DENZEL", Because I had already seen Denzel become Malcolm in the Play. Then what did Spike do.?? I felt like I willed that to happen.. lol. & I've never heard it publicly be said that Denzel already did that play.. But he did, & he killed it. & the Movie too. I Love them both, Spike & Denzel.. & I Adore Malcolm X.. He grew me up. when I was a kid I carried books of his speeches in my book bags. they were my Bibles..

    What's interesting about Denzel as Malcolm and what makes it a top 10 performance is the fact that he isn't trying to "act" like Malcolm X. Most actors portraying historical figures do their best to sort copy every little mannerism of the character. But Denzel decided to channel Malcolm X. And in doing so, he becomes more like Malcolm X then Malcolm X himself in some ways.

    What a beautiful interview. I’ve never know much about Spike Lee, but I have respect of Denzel as long as I can remember. He’s a man of God I really enjoyed getting to know sparkly a little better. Thank you.❤

    No other actor could have played Malcolm X better than Denzel Washington. He should have won an Oscar for best actor, for this movie 🎥.

    Malcolm X is hands down the best Denzel Washington movie. Talk about seeing someone evolve. I've seen it 100 times, 3 hours and I get sucked in every time. Lmao. How it didn't get Best Picture much less Best Actor is a crime. ❤

    Congrats, Mr. Lee, on the 30-year anniversary of the GREATEST movie you EVER produced. It was your Oscar for best film...and Denzel's for best actor...AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT! Before this movie, I didn't even know who Malcolm X was...because we know they don't teach this ish in the public school system.

    Spike is so passionate about his craft and about art in general. Pharrell is a good listener too. Knows when to shut up. Denzel is timeless and his devotion is obvious in the roles he takes and how he portrays them.

  • @80steen44
    @80steen44 ปีที่แล้ว

    Denzel didn't win for Training Day because it was a negative role and not win for Malcom X because it was positive. Jamie Foxx, Sidney Poitier and more recently Will Smith won for positive roles. The only reason Denzel won for Training Day at all is because Russell Crowe, who'd won the Golden Globe, BAFTA, Critics Choice and SAG for A Beautiful Mind, had an outburst at BAFTA that lost him the Oscar. To this day he's the only one to ever win the other 4 since they've all coexisted and not win the Oscar. Plus, the Oscars have an agenda in giving it to someone for lifetime achievement or playing someone with a disability. Pacino fit both and was darn good in Scent of a Woman, and Denzel also lost votes to Robert Downey Jr as Charlie Chaplin in Chaplin, which was sensational, not to mention Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. It was probably the most competitive year ever. Also, most have no idea how difficult it is to get an Oscar nomination among thousands of other male actors. You have to be 1 or 2 on almost all of your peers list of about 1000 other actors who are Academy members. That's why it's often said that someone has won a nomination for the Academy Award. The nomination is so prestigious the phrase Oscar nominee sticks as part of your legacy for that role and is held in such high regard by the Academy it automatically makes you eligible to attend all future ceremonies. But Denzel for Malcom X, although he lost the Oscar and Golden Globe to Al Pacino, he did win Film Critics awards from NY, Boston, KC, Southeastern, Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago, as well from the people for Mtv. He was also the winner of the 2013 20/20 award for Malcom X, that reevaluates the Oscars with 20 years of hindsight

    I've been around the world 7 times. I have been a student of History. I am white but I have a large number of black people in my family because my grandmother was with a black man in the 1950s & 1960s. So I grew up around black people. I love black people but I'm sorry to say that despite all the hype on television & movies, ISLAM IS NOT TRULY A PART OF BLACK HISTORY!!!! Yeah yeah I know all about ROOTS, but black people have been looken for an identity as part of the fight for civil rights. Unfortunately they have taken one small part of history (The history of Egypt) & RAN WITH IT. Egypt in the beginning WAS NOT ISLAMIC. Arabs came & birthed their way in thousands of years later. That part of human history HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BLACK HISTORY just because it took place in a small section of north Africa. . .
