- Its not easy for a Giraffe to drink water with its long legs and neck, especially from a man-made waterhole in Kruger National Park.

Probably looking around for any Lions. I would think it would be pretty vulnerable lying on the ground.

Interesting. Giraffes are very vulnerable when at the watering hole because they can't bend their knees, thus making them have to drink in awkward position. They cannot flee quickly because of this. This video shows this perfectly. Thanks!

Besides being illegal in the park, it runs completely counter to philosophy of the entire area.
If I follow your line of thinking I can posit “oh please... so what if I put a bullet in the brain of a lion or two. Far more get killed from fights with other lions or even die while hunting their own prey. I paid a lot for this safari and I want a trophy!”

These type of cement pond can be a death trap for hooves stock animal. The smooth surface is too slippery, once they fell in is hard to get out. They should build one with good traction and step design like a stair.
