That was not some rare occasion. They naturally do use ponds for defense from wild dogs - a kangaroo goes into water where it's shallow enough for it to stand but deep enough for the attacking dog to have to swim, and the kangaroo drowns the dog which has come too close. That is, this is their usual defensive behavior in the wild.

That was actually a gibbon, a type of ape from southern Asia. Notice that he does not have a tail, which is a characteristic of an ape. The tigers look like they would be cubs, so they haven't figured out what to do when a gibbon starts harassing them. From the gibbon's point of view, he wants to keep the dangerous predators away from his family who are higher up in the trees.

I mean zookeepers could de-escalate things. But the gorillas weren’t doing that bad. Idk the context, but if that was all they fought, then they were just working things out. As a zookeeper, I have seen so many people freak out when animals act more sexual or violent then they do on PBS. Like lady, this is nature!

That was not some rare occasion. They naturally do use ponds for defense from wild dogs - a kangaroo goes into water where it's shallow enough for it to stand but deep enough for the attacking dog to have to swim, and the kangaroo drowns the dog which has come too close. That is, this is their usual defensive behavior in the wild.
