Just got the NV352...the night before I opened it, I used a $100 stick vac we have and vacuumed for about a hour. The next day, I used the 352 and it was like I had never vacuumed the same areas before. I was really impressed with its power.
@@VacuumWarsI was checking out there Bissell with a super long cord and they probably wondered why is this guy checking out our vacuum. Vacuum wars baby!!!!!
I bought the Shark Stratos based on your reviews and the price, buying directly from Shark. They had the best price around on the Stratos which helped with my decisioning. This vacuum performs better than any vacuum that I have ever owned. I already had a Shark that I've owned for 25 years that I was using upstairs, and a Bissel Velocity for the downstairs area. Neither of them perform close to the Stratos. Even though the old Shark is still running strong, it lacked the newer technology and didn't have the performance that the newer ones do. Thank you for the service that you are providing, it has been a great help to me in choosing my new vacuum. In fact, I am considering purchasing another one for my upstairs so that I don't have to carry the new Stratos up and down the steps.
Great video. Thanks especially for pointing out that the duo clean heads may not be ideal if you have mostly carpets...Spending more may not always get you the best product for your "use case".
This was an eye opener for me as I had been looking at the premium vacuum with the duo clean, and I'm glad I did research and found i didn't need to spend 300 or more. Although I hate having to clean the rollers due to hair build up
I bought a $600 Shark & a $600 Dyson at same time. I prefered using Shark but it quit over a year ago and repair shop said it needed new motor. Dyson is still running.
The Stratos has a lot more to offer than you're giving it credit for. There are a number of improvements it makes over the Vertex. I've been watching your channel for a while now, and I wanted to comment to say something about your comparisons of the Vertex and Stratos. I've owned both the Shark Vertex and the Shark Stratos, and there are a number of differences aside from the odor cartridge that I think go unnoticed here. I'm writing this because aside from you and I, there are likely very few people who have owned both and used them extensively. The first difference I've observed is the fact that the fins on the Stratos are designed to be more aggressive at getting smaller hairs (like cat hair) out of carpeting. This has been beneficial for me, since my apartment is mostly carpeted and I have 2 cats. The second difference, and the main one in my opinion, is the design of the dust bin. The Vertex has a dustbin that is similar to the NV352, where there is a top and bottom latch on the front of the dustbin to open the top and bottom lids respectively. There is also a main vortex with a mesh pillar filter in the middle and a vertical reservoir for dirt to fall into. This design has a habit of forming a secondary vortex in the front section when empty, and results in there being much more fine dirt and debris that makes its way to the foam and felt filters. The mesh pillar in the main vortex also catches longer hairs when vacuuming, and requires me to open the top lid and manually dislodge it. The Stratos improves on the design of the dustbin by going with one similar to the NV360, but with a better dustbin release and dustbin emptying system. The design allows the vortex-forming portion to be raised more, and allows the dirt to fall into a much larger holding space. The design also improves the central mesh cone, forming it into a peak with an anti-hair-wrap design. While I've owned the Stratos, I have no longer had the problem of needing to manually dislodge my hair from the mesh pillar in the main vortex, and the foam and felt pre-filters are dirtied at a much slower rate than the Vertex.
Also the stratos’ powerfins brush roll has been redesigned to have little grooves for better hair pickup. The vertex (and all other sharks with powerfins) does not have these grooves.
I'm on the fence been a Ball Animal and the Stratos. I have 50/50 carpet and tile and cats so I need something to really clean in there for the allergic people that come by. You have made this decision a hard one for again lol.
fine debris making it into the premotor filter is def an issue with my vertex, not loving the build quality either compared to the nv352 we've had for years.
Remember when a person could walk into a store and simply buy a vacuum without concern toward quality or longevity because vacuum companies prided themselves on quality? Yup, I'm dating myself. I have an 11-year-old Sharp Navigator that has given me zero problems, even though I don't maintain it as it deserves. I used to raise cats on a professional basis and at times would have north of 30 cats but my Navigator kept my Cattery hair and dust-free. A few of my cats and kittens would even lie down asking for a vacuum grooming! It worked its little fingers to the bone! I can't even guess at the mileage on those now squeaky wheels! Presently, I'm retired and down to just five retired show cats, all long-hair and my Navigator is still keeping us presentably clean; however, the hose on the wand has finally cracked, sporting a bandage of camo duct tape, and even though a replacement is available, it will cost almost $50.00. I figure with a $50.00 replacement cost, that is $50.00 off toward a new Shark. But, boy howdy! So many choices! I have spent the past several days, and some nights, reviewing Shark after Shark, which is how I found your site. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your wonderful reviews and demos have immensely helped this old lady narrow the field toward making a purchase. I haven't quite decided on a model, so I'll be back as I continue narrowing down an immense field of choices! I have medium pile carpeting, poor eyesight, making LED lights desirable, looking for a powered Lift-Away, no hair wrap design, something that price can be managed with a SS check, and maybe a handsome gentleman tucked away in the box for this lonely widow? lol Again, thank you!
I’m a house cleaner, I own the LA322 vaccum and it’s pretty amazing. It still works perfectly fine after 1.5 years. I just bought the vertex vacuum for houses that have lots of hard floors. Hope it’s as good as my other vaccum
Thank you! There are so many to choose from, it's a lot to weed through. I had come up with the same top choice based on my own research online and was happy to have it confirmed by someone who has actually tested all the vacuums.
Thank you! We are shopping for a new vacuum right now as out DC41 Dyson finally died. We knew we wanted a Shark but we’re kinda overwhelmed with all the choices. A Vertex it is!

Awesome video! I've been so confused about which Sharks have which features and which features I really need...and your charts made it to easy. Thank you!
I’ve been a hardcore bagged vacuum user for a long time. But I found the NV752 model on sale at my Walmart for $99 and was like well I’ll give it a try. I find it to be a good overall cleaner. Though its dust bin is crippling small. And over the years it’s gotten very creaky and squeaky. But it’s been good to me for the 2 1/2 years I’ve had it. I still prefer my bagged vacuums, but this isn’t a bad bagless choice.
Can you start testing how vacuums do with hay pickup? I got a Vertex DuoClean because of your channel and I love it, but then we ended up getting a pet rabbit and the hay around the carpet and floor practically makes it useless now lol. It clogs so easily if it picks up a strand of hay, we’ve had to switch to carpet sweepers before vacuuming the area. It would be nice to see if certain vacuums don’t clog as easily with small animal hay as others.
I love my vertex! And I have almost all carpet. But it's hands down the best vacuum I have ever used. I would not want a vacuum without the dual heads - they are too useful!
Have used both the Apex and Vertex models and I think the Apex is better. The power fins on the Vertex deteriorate pretty quickly, but the bristles on the Apex last much longer. On the Vertex, you can’t remove the clear plastic cover on the beater bars and it gets really dirty and it’s difficult to clean. The Apex clear plastic cover comes off for easy cleaning. As well, the Apex hose/wand has another light which is super handy. Apex ftw
I love my new Shark Vertex! Can’t recommend the vacuum enough. Sure, the filter gets dirtier quicker than my Dyson. But, I can deal with the monthly cleaning in exchange for lift away and duo clean.
My shark nv472 26 JUST went out. We got it early 2015 I believe. It was amazing. I have a bissell crosswave for cleaning our rugs and the suction is terrible compared to our shark so now I’m on the hunt for a new one.
I was watching your video so disappointed with my self thinking I had purchased the wrong vacuum for my carpets. But OMG that was brilliant.. 1. I have that one… and 2.. Love your process.. great job ….
Hi! I ❤️your reviews and I’m currently looking for the best vacuum for hard floors & carpet. My house is literally1/2 carpet & 1/2 hard floors. I’m wondering what you would do if you were me. Would it be best to buy 2 vacuums - the best for hard floors and the best for carpet or is there one you recommend if you have equal amount of carpet and hard floors. If you have time to respond, thanks, if not I do understand.
I'm a longtime Shark owner, having owned and used 3 different models over 20 years in my home as well as in my cleaning business. Question...Have you seen a difference in the quality of materials Shark's are being made of? I just bought a new Vertex based on my own research, and thank you for confirming my findings, and it seems cheaply made. I'm very disappointed and ready to return it. The one it will be replacing is the DuoClean, powered Lift-Away NV830, whose brush roll motor is acting up. When putting the Vertex together I could tell the plastic hosing was inferior as well as the plastic components. Thoughts?
Great video - thank you! I was wondering if any of you know if any of these models have LED lights in the handle also (when you're using the attachments). I had this feature on an older Shark vac i had and LOVED it.
Bought a shark because of this channel and they wouldn’t let me plug the channel in the review:/ they don’t know what they’re missing. Keep up the great work!
As an owner of a vacuum store, I hate bagless vacuums except for Dysons. Dysons are the only good bagless because they have multiple cyclones, and aren't as prone to loosing power, compared to the Shark, which only has one cone style cyclone and will loose power if you don't keep it clean. With bagged vacuums, all you do is take the bag out and put a new one in. It also costs less, which sounds counter intuitive, but bags allow much more airflow and are also easier on the motor, versus with a bagless, which has a filter between the bin and the motor.
@@RobertBeedle The obsession is based solely from the infomercial. They optimized the cyclone to where it could filter out heavy dirt and dust. The Dyson can do that but it can also filter fine dust. Fine dust is stopped by the Shark’s filter. Fine dust is stopped by the Dyson’s many cyclones, so the dust never makes it to the filter in the Dyson, and the filter ultimately doesn’t get clogged in the Dyson, where with the Shark, you feel the urge to wash the filter after every use.
I need the best Carpet vacuum for deep cleaning at less then $1000 what do you would be the best? i went through alot of your videos but there really isn't a new best for what task. I hope it's ok if i ask?
We have a recent "best cordless vacuum of 2023" video (th-cam.com/video/ZMAHwJg-ISw/w-d-xo.html) where we include all of the Shark cordless vacuums. Hope that helps!
We talk about filtration in the most recent video right here - th-cam.com/video/GqOshG4RjBQ/w-d-xo.html - and there are some recommendations too. Hope that helps!
@@VacuumWars hi again, I just watched this video, in your opinion, which of the Sharks is the best at preventing the smell from being blown back? Thanks
Thanks for these awesome test/videos. I'm about to purchase the Shark Stratos but wanted to ask you before I purchase... Does this leave carpet vacuum lines? The suction and lines are what I'm looking for. Thanks so much!
We have a thick carpet pad and medium length (frieze) carpet. Our Dyson is too strong of suction and it's really hard to move the vacuum. Would the Vertex work well on our type of carpet? None of the reviews talk about this.
I would think it would, or the Stratos that is currently less expensive. Dyson doesn't have suction controls, but Shark does. Stratos and Vertex have settings for thick carpet, low pile and hard floors...3 settings...and I'm old lol and personally don't struggle with my Stratos on any surface. Hope that helps!
The Apex is still the better option. Better maneuverability, light on handle, ability to open up floor nozzle and clean it, finns dont ware out as quickly as Vertex and Stratos, the mini wheels are more durable on the Apex, Apex is slightly lighter, Apex has a larger dust bin. I use these vacuums on a regular basis daily and the Apex's do hold up better over time. AND! you can maybe buy and Apex used for much cheaper. The suction advantage on the Vertex and Stratos are not even marginally different to warrent an upgrade and conclude it a better vacuum.
Are you referring to the Apex with the "zero m" head? Is there any way to remove and replace that roller? I have a cordless vertex with the blue power fin roll and I love how it works on hardwood floors but I don't feel like it will hold up over time on carpet. And when that happens I don't think you can just replace the roller. If the zero-m rollers are replacable that definitely makes me want to hunt down an old Apex.
Thanks for the helpful videos. I'm looking to get a new vacuum mostly for carpet, and was wondering if the deep cleaning performance of the duoclean was better with the older zero m like the nv771, or if you still prefer the navigator design. Thanks!
You probably test so much stuff it would be hard to remember but if you can, what robot vacuum is better, the Ecovacs deebot N8 or the deebot Ozmo 920 ?
Thank you for the Shark compare! Now that Dyson has the Animal 3, which would you pick as the winner if Stratos or Vertex went up against the Animal 3?
I'd really like to see that full spreadsheet, I just want the best overall for carpet (though I do have hardwood as well), and I'm curious if the navigator does that as good or better than the vertex
We can't share the spreadsheet, but we have full reviews of both of those that cover their performance on carpet in detail - th-cam.com/video/0YyG7ojZG_s/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/KNbS2cFS8ps/w-d-xo.html. Hope that helps!
Thank you for such a comprehensive comparison. Here in the UK, the most powerful motor on a corded Shark seems to be 800W. Is this just a limitation for the 240V market or am I missing something? I have the AZ950 which looks to be a 750W version of the US Apex and it's great but I can't help but think how much better that extra power would be!
Appreciate the through work. I recently purchased uplight based on your old review. It checked all the boxes for me except being a bit heavy for my liking. This is my third vacuum purchase after watching your reviews (previous ones are Shark Apex Duoclean Zero M and Bissell featherlight). I got shark apex upright because I wanted to do a thorough cleaning once in a while instead of solely rely on dyson v8. I like uplight the best so far being lighter weight than upright, hepa filter and strong suction. That being said I think shark discontinued this model and I don’t know why. I feel like there is so little option in the market for corded stick vacuum with hepa filter that’s 10lbs and under yet there is plenty cordless hepa filter stick vacuum options that weights much less. A periodic showdown among corded stick vacuums would be appreciated as well.
Awesome video! Could you please review those alternative brand double soft rollers for handheld Dyson's (which are not the omni-glide) They are sold in Amazon or websites like that. Thaaaanks!

Hi. Between Shark Stratos and Shark Vertex, what would you recommend the best for thick carpet, pet hair, and human hair?
I couldn't decide between the Apex and Vertex - I went with the Apex. I have 50/50 carpet and hardwood floors. I hope I made the right decision!
Just got the apex a week ago and I absolutely love it!
Apex ftw
Good input. Thanks for sharing.
I love my new Shark Vertex! Can’t recommend the vacuum enough. Sure, the filter gets dirtier quicker than my Dyson. But, I can deal with the monthly cleaning in exchange for lift away and duo clean.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for doing such thorough reviews. Your tests are exceptional and very helpful.
I really love the shark vacuum. It cleans great!
So which ones the best? I’m so cinfused
What is the difference between ZU561 and AZ1000? Does one perform better on carpet vs the other?
Can confirm my NV352 is an amazing vacuum. Love your channel!
Awesome! Thank you!
Love the videos! What is the difference between the shark cu510/520 series vs the nv series?
Excellent video! Thank you very much! Only wish you had added noise level for each vacuum.
My shark nv472 26 JUST went out. We got it early 2015 I believe. It was amazing. I have a bissell crosswave for cleaning our rugs and the suction is terrible compared to our shark so now I’m on the hunt for a new one.
Wow! We hope the video helps you pick out your new one!
Which one did you choose
@@AllAboutPurple We got the Stratos and love it!!!

Awesome thanks for the feedback
I was watching your video so disappointed with my self thinking I had purchased the wrong vacuum for my carpets.
But OMG that was brilliant.. 1. I have that one… and 2.. Love your process.. great job ….
Thank you!
We are so glad you are happy with it! Thank you!
I love my cordless version but now you've got me jonesing for a second one...
I bought the ADV 502 based on your recommendation and I’m happy so far.
That is good to hear. Thank you.
I hate shark. I don’t get his obsession with sharks
“As the owner of a vacuum store” LMAO, probably doesn’t sell shark there that’s why he doesn’t like it. Self-serving comment. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
@@sethtenrec no a vacuum store wouldn't sell shit ass shark. They sell vacuums meant to last
@@Beardman56 my point exactly, the Ford salesman tells you that Chevys are crap. Maybe not the most objective opinion…
@@RobertBeedle
The obsession is based solely from the infomercial.
Always amazing videos those are short and to the point.
Not like other reviewers who will stretch videos to gain TH-cam ad revenue.
The best comparison ever! Thank you
Wow, thank you!
I need the best Carpet vacuum for deep cleaning at less then $1000 what do you would be the best? i went through alot of your videos but there really isn't a new best for what task. I hope it's ok if i ask?
You're a God among insects Vacuum Wars!
Goodness! Thanks!
Super ! Thank you!
Would you have a stick comparison?
We have a recent "best cordless vacuum of 2023" video (th-cam.com/video/ZMAHwJg-ISw/w-d-xo.html) where we include all of the Shark cordless vacuums. Hope that helps!
@@VacuumWars it does thank you
@vacuum wars my biggest need is for a vacuum that doesn't blow smell back into the air. Can you please tell me which Shark is best for this need?
We talk about filtration in the most recent video right here - th-cam.com/video/GqOshG4RjBQ/w-d-xo.html - and there are some recommendations too. Hope that helps!
@@VacuumWarsthanks I saw a video last year where you hooked the sharks up to a machine to show how many particles escaped.. I like that test, lol.
Shark is definitely one of the vacuums brands I recommend
We have a thick carpet pad and medium length (frieze) carpet. Our Dyson is too strong of suction and it's really hard to move the vacuum. Would the Vertex work well on our type of carpet? None of the reviews talk about this.
I would think it would, or the Stratos that is currently less expensive. Dyson doesn't have suction controls, but Shark does. Stratos and Vertex have settings for thick carpet, low pile and hard floors...3 settings...and I'm old lol and personally don't struggle with my Stratos on any surface. Hope that helps!
One question I have is how does the Shark Rotator Lift-Away LA500C compare to the LA502?
I have the same Question, As the C at end is the Canadian model and I dont know which US model it is,
Excellently done as usual! Vertex is my fave! Got the cordless and corded versions... just wish Shark would get out together with batteries! Thanks!
try the Lupe....i love my shark but lupe is far superior
The Apex is still the better option. Better maneuverability, light on handle, ability to open up floor nozzle and clean it, finns dont ware out as quickly as Vertex and Stratos, the mini wheels are more durable on the Apex, Apex is slightly lighter, Apex has a larger dust bin. I use these vacuums on a regular basis daily and the Apex's do hold up better over time. AND! you can maybe buy and Apex used for much cheaper. The suction advantage on the Vertex and Stratos are not even marginally different to warrent an upgrade and conclude it a better vacuum.
yup apex with duo clean and zero-m. for the win lol.
Thanks!
Shark duoclean are the best vaccums ever ..can't go wrong with anyone of those models...I have been loving my $250 duoclean liftaway from last 2 years
How do the duocleans work with carpets in your experience?
@@robertf6409 best no issues at all they got high speed head switch for carpets
Glad you are happy with it!
Shark products are the best. I have had my Shark vacuum for over 10 years. Just bought a Shark Sweeper love it too❤
That is awesome!
which is the best for washing floors and carpets? is there any vacuum with mopp function?
Great videos, love the channel! Which one would you recommend for carpeted stairs?
You probably test so much stuff it would be hard to remember but if you can, what robot vacuum is better, the Ecovacs deebot N8 or the deebot Ozmo 920 ?
This video right here compares those deebots and some others: th-cam.com/video/T5WycBr3Szc/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps!
Thank you for the Shark compare! Now that Dyson has the Animal 3, which would you pick as the winner if Stratos or Vertex went up against the Animal 3?
We haven't sat down and compared yet. Hopefully by the end of the year though!
Hey Vacuum Wars need help picking an upright vacuum for mostly carpet that has anti hair wrap! What are your suggestions?
Thank you for such a comprehensive comparison. Here in the UK, the most powerful motor on a corded Shark seems to be 800W. Is this just a limitation for the 240V market or am I missing something? I have the AZ950 which looks to be a 750W version of the US Apex and it's great but I can't help but think how much better that extra power would be!
Where do the ZU vacs fit on your scale?
What vacuum do you recommend for low pile, commercial like burbur carpet?
We gonna see a review on the Stratos Cordless?
We haven't checked it out yet!
Hello can you do the Quantom X vaccuum with water filtration? Thanks!
Great video, I bought the vacuum that you recommended and it was great! Keep it up
Hope you enjoy it! Thank you!
I just got the Shark Vertex. I really like it but it seems to get really hot around the filter area. Is that normal for this vacuum?
nv352 user here. Best purchase ever.
Glad to hear you are happy with it!
can i ask what vac out of these would be best for a shag rug with a 2 1/2" pile? have you ever tested? i dont want to destroy the rug.. thanks
Good feedback and thank you!
Where cani view the excel sheet? I need to see numbers in catagories that way for comparing
Awesome video!
Could you please review those alternative brand double soft rollers for handheld Dyson's (which are not the omni-glide)
They are sold in Amazon or websites like that.
Thaaaanks!
I got the vertex for $200 Black Friday special, the powered lift away is a must to clean my car.
Good to hear!
Love your channel!! Can't wait for your review of the new cordless stick vacuum with the combined soft brush/fin brush - Shark® Cordless Pro with Clean Sense IQ!
Can you do a review on the Dyson cinetic big ball animal allergy?
Okay the question is...Which would you choose between the new Dyson ball animal 3 ($399) vs the Shark Stratos (Currently on sale for $299)??
Hi. Thank you for the video. Based on your research, could you tell me which model is the best for carpet from the newer models (I'm interested in the new brush, since I deal with both long and short hair in a 95% carpeted house). Thank you!
Shark Rotator ZU632 Powered Lift-Away with Self-Cleaning Brushroll Upright Vacuum - would that be the best option for me? Thanks again! (I like the lights and the brush seem ideal? Sorry, I'm just confused and quite overwhelmed!). Thanks for the help!
Thanks for doing all the research! Makes my life easier.
You bet! Thank you for watching!
Would the vertex be good for shag carpet? Everything gets lost in it. I have to shake it and it’s 8x12 so it’s not doable. Dyson can’t handle it.
I have high pile carpet (over 1/2 in high) I’m curious which vacuum would be best for this? Most vacuums are very difficult to push across tall thick carpet.
Would you review the Shark NV586 target exclusive? Consumer Reports rates as their top performer.
So I'm back to the playing field from your videos lol. Bought my Bissell 2x pet revolution carpet cleaner because of you years ago....now I'm about to replace my Bissell vacuum with a much better vacuum(more higher quality and will last much longer I should say lol),so going to compare this video with a few of your others and give you a update. I have 1 5 year old boy,two dogs and two adults and mainly carpet🤷♀️
Thanks for coming back and we hope you find one you are happy with!
