I did the same thing as you with the jaw dropping. I get up at 3am for work and don’t get home until after 5pm. But there are people who have it worse, work 2-3 jobs, have kids in daycare (mine are grown), so she needs to have a seat.
True, I would work 16 hours a day working two full time jobs in retail plus a warehouse. Even then I would maintain that I had it way better than people in who slave away in sweatshops and get like $3 a day or something.
I'm genuinely surprised that she does not. Her behavior supports that she doesn't, but she needs to reconsider. If she does, she should listen to them. If they're a bad team, she should find a better team. She has built a big life with that money. I'm sure she wants to keep that cash flow.
I have so much to say and I don't even know where to begin. The mascara thing is HILARIOUS to me, personally, having been wearing makeup since 2008. I can absolutely spot a false lash when I see it. Here's the thing: I have worked in retail recently at a makeup store where A LOT of very young kids and teens shop for makeup that they've been seeing on TikTok (literally, you know that it's been on TikTok when tens of teens ask for it over the weekend and it gets sold out immediately). And let me tell you: most of them are absolutely clueless. I know for a fact that most of them won't know that she's wearing false lashes, and they'll spend most of their money on this mascara (that's like 20$+ here in Canada) in the hopes of getting those results. As an adult that's very well versed in anything makeup related, it makes me laugh. As a beauty advisor dealing with a lot of very young people, this enrages me.
100% they come in an say that they saw it on TikTok. They make sure we know what's viral this week, and it's really sad when the product they want is being promoted with deceitful means. Because they don't know, especially if they've grown up on the internet. They can't always see the filters or the falsies or the cut when someone uses a different product or technique than the one they're promoting.

Yeah, I actually have it and it's my favorite mascara most because I have very curly lashes but they're short and for the cost the telescopic lift does a great job of making them look long. What made me buy it was the uncut reviews of people showing the real results; I was very impressed so I tried it. I like when results are dramatic enough to show the product is worth buying but still realistic and accurate. When I see out of this world unbelievable results, that makes me do a lot more further research than I'd be doing anyway because my scam sensors go off. Basically "lashgate" as its called was so unnecessary. Sighhhhh
I don't get why some of these newer influencers don't understand why people are upset for the false advertising. People don't get this stuff for free they have to spend their hard earned money. As us recovering addicts know (8 years clean from opiates here🎉) you don’t go putting other peoples info out there. The fact thatMikayla let the world know that that girl was in recovery is so wrong because she may not have wanted that out there. And also what the hell what was she getting so mad at Rich for he didn’t even say anything wrong. I think Mikayla needs to get over herself And she needs to learn from her mistakes which I don’t believe she’s doing at this point, but we’ll see if she ever response to this mascara drama

honestly i think people who weren't on the platform for the og days of beautube (miss u forever jenna marbles) forget how HARD beauty influencers had to work for credibility re: sponsored posts. like it's integral to earning money now and people used to literally avoid sponsorships to try and maintain faith from their audience in their reviews. and for someone like kathleen lights who was there doing that it must be frustrating as hell to see someone chuck all of that for those sweet sweet loreal bucks.
I was just thinking about this when I was reading about this drama/controversy. The “OG” beauty gurus had to work super hard and their fame wasn’t really overnight. Maybe you haven’t seen it but this stuff happens, and that’s why people (esp. some influencers) are super protective and quiet about who they’re dating online. I don’t think it’s fair to say ‘he never said anything about Cody’ - he didn’t have to.
Concerning the Rick Lux video, telling the world that Cody met his ex-girlfriend in treatment and that she was also a recovering addict was horrible. Its wasn’t her place to share that. Maybe she got permission from Cody to share about him, but I doubt she got the ex-girlfriends permission. It shows immaturity, impulsiveness and lack of self-awareness, to say the least.
I feel like she will regret her behavior when she is older. Although I agree with those that are saying she is young and naive, if no one calls her out on bad behavior, she will never grow as a person.

When you were talking about the Boston accent you made me remember when I met my husband. He’s from the eastern side of Massachusetts and I’m from Western Mass where we don’t have the accent and when I met him his accent was HEAVY. I have so much to say and I don't even know where to begin. The mascara thing is HILARIOUS to me, personally, having been wearing makeup since 2008. I can absolutely spot a false lash when I see it. Here's the thing: I have worked in retail recently at a makeup store where A LOT of very young kids and teens shop for makeup that they've been seeing on TikTok (literally, you know that it's been on TikTok when tens of teens ask for it over the weekend and it gets sold out immediately). And let me tell you: most of them are absolutely clueless. I know for a fact that most of them won't know that she's wearing false lashes, and they'll spend most of their money on this mascara (that's like 20$+ here in Canada) in the hopes of getting those results.
As an adult that's very well versed in anything makeup related, it makes me laugh. As a beauty advisor dealing with a lot of very young people, this enrages me.

Because they don't know, especially if they've grown up on the internet. Yeah, I actually have it and it's my favorite mascara most because I have very curly lashes but they're short and for the cost the telescopic lift does a great job of making them look long. What made me buy it was the uncut reviews of people showing the real results; I was very impressed so I tried it. I like when results are dramatic enough to show the product is worth buying but still realistic and accurate. When I see out of this world unbelievable results, that makes me do a lot more further research than I'd be doing anyway because my scam sensors go off. Basically "lashgate" as its called was so unnecessary. Sighhhhh

And also what the hell what was she getting so mad at Rich for he didn’t even say anything wrong. That Rich Lux stuff was disrespectful as hell. His jokes about her fiancé cheating would easily turn into ppl searching for ‘clues’ that he was cheating or that they were about to break up. Maybe you haven’t seen it but this stuff happens, and that’s why people (esp. some influencers) are super protective and quiet about who they’re dating online. I don’t think it’s fair to say ‘he never said anything about Cody’ - he didn’t have to.
Concerning the Rick Lux video, telling the world that Cody met his ex-girlfriend in treatment and that she was also a recovering addict was horrible. Its wasn’t her place to share that. Maybe she got permission from Cody to share about him, but I doubt she got the ex-girlfriends permission.

When you were talking about the Boston accent you made me remember when I met my husband. He’s from the eastern side of Massachusetts and I’m from Western Mass where we don’t have the accent and when I met him his accent was HEAVY.
