    As a first time owner of a wrx, i can say that the harder you drive it, the better it feels. This car was meant to be driven. Not baby-ed, not calmly maneuvering, not going slow or being luxurious. Just go. The rougher the road, the more comfortable the car feels, oddly enough.

    I have an 05 STI with 200k on the clock and running strong. Will never get rid of that car. It was my dream car as a kid and I was so happy to finally be able to afford one. Now that these have skyrocketed in value, are highly sought after, and seeing where the STI name is headed, it makes me even more happy that I have one of the originals to represent what Subaru used to be. It truly is a shame to see all of our favorite cars die out to emissions laws and regulations...

    I sold a 1997 WRX RA import (Race application) with the stock race gear fitted to it from Subaru (factory lighter body, closed deck engine, VF22 turbo, high flow intercooler with water jets, high ratio gears and coilovers) for just over $7000 about 10 years ago in an eBay auction... because I thought I couldn't register it in WA when I moved from Melbourne. The guy called me up a couple of days later to thank me and let me know he had no issues registering it. It makes me cry to this day. I love the platform in any generation of the STI. No matter how it looks on the outside or inside, that familiar sound and feel just eggs you on to redline.

    • @olik9388
      @olik9388 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to launch mine from close to redline to stop it bogging down. Pretty much a rev and dump, but there's only so many times you can do that to it, not to mention the later versions are much heavier than the earlier ones. Two gear changes to 100 km/h doesn't help either. My Audi RS5 launches from near 7000 RPM and launch control sorts out everything else. As much as I'm all for purist cars, I'd love to experience a WRX STI with a dual clutch gearbox and launch control. It detracts from the DNA of the car substantially, but I would buy one if it came with that option.

For the price that you pay, the sheer enjoyment you get from driving it is something I have not experienced with other cars. A truck in front of me passed them, then I did. I gave it a good effort and it took pretty long to overtake this thing. Also, was following a silverado recently and he accelerated pretty aggressively going up a hill, and I tried keeping up and barely could. I could go on and on. The suspension, ground clearance, shit electric power steering, crappy tune that makes shifting garbage, shitty gear ratios, this thing is pretty much useless in the only domain you'd really have an argument for. 3. On the 0-100 time you can bring it down a whole lot using Cobbs launch control. You can easily get sub fives on good launches. Without launch control it's one of the most difficult vehicles to launch ever I swear. Your on the verge of roasting the crap out of the clutch and bogging down the engine.
