Tesla should add this as a specific "emergency mode" feature - disable the nags, take me to the nearest hospital, automatically call 911, etc. I guess that's probably not possible until they're certified for full autonomy, but we live in hope.
It could even flash the headlights and tail lights on one side at a time to signal to other drivers there's an emergency
that's a good idea the FSD team at Tesla pays attention and I think this is something that they will try and implement@@why6212
Self learning AI will boost all of this and enable even way more features.
And they could easily wigwag the front lights (reserved to indicate emergency vehicles in the US) along with all the blinkers. And start flashing the horn as it was getting to the destination.
That's what I was thinking. They could have several panic puttons, first one coming to mind is having FSD take you to the hosptal with one press of a button.
I just subscribed to FSD for $99, can't live without it!
I have been using it for 3 years and truly can't live without it
Is fsd a subscription or can be paid lifetime
You can live without but why ?
@@worms32The subscription is $99/month or a one-time payment of $12,000.

this should be a series of ads ( like the old Volvo safest car ads or the VW 70’s ugliest car / bug ads ) should become the core of Advertising consumer EDUCATION for
America!
The off the cliff model 3 with a family of 4 is the most amazing life saving story
That was and of those news stories tha was utterly gut wrenching. Finding out they ALL survived, especially after seeing the car?! I agree, they don’t show the safety enough. When Volvo showed how safe they were sales exploded.
If you start feeling bad don’t go hide. My uncle was found in the bathroom dead after a heart attack. If he would have been around people 911 might have saved his life.
Making sure you don’t hide when you start feeling bad is something you have to pound into your head. It is literally in our DNA to get away from the clan if you were going to die. This was beneficial to the group for millions of years because the group had very little chance of saving your life from an illness. Now there is a very good chance the group could save your life.
Make the decision now to never be in the bathroom alone if you are feeling bad. Bring someone with you that you trust to not leave you alone. Or better yet just get to a crowded place so if you collapse it will be noticed.
Stay healthy everyone.
Buddy, you are great ! I never comment, but I totally appreciate your Hard Work !! Your kids and beautiful wife are so fortunate 💕 Wish her all of Gods Love.
He should still have called 911. An EMT can increase your chances of making it to the hospital alive.
I don't see any other EV brand can do this. Still pretty amazing software from Tesla.
Yes get 911 on the phone. They might have you meet an ambulance. They will definitely have a team waiting at the ER so you don’t have to go through checkin first.
I get kidney stones every 3 years or so. If my wife drives me to the ER I have to wait another 30 minutes to get pain medicine. If an ambulance picks me up they start a saline IV and I get pain medication usually before entering the building. It’s worth the extra money for me.

It also takes lives.
@@i6power30 not as many as human drivers do
@@myphonyaccount The difference is those human drivers that cause deadly accidents are vast majority intoxicated, neglegent or outright suicidal. But FSD failures, bugs., it is possible for responsible, well intentioned drivers to get into deadly accidents too.
You need to buy the book Prevent and Reverse Heart Attack by Dr Caldwell Esselstyn. Seriously, make the changes necessary and you will never need to use the FSD for heart attack reasons. Given your family history you need to be proactive for your family. All the best.
I have been using the FSD quite a bit over the past 2 weeks in my model Y - I had 2 long range trips in the last 2 weeks and the FSD made a very impressive improvement on these long drives - I greatly appreciated the car doing most of the work - there is a little more to go but the current performance is very very good & useful
Yeah! I have even noticed the 3 updates of FSD since getting the free month version have gotten better and better!
I wish Sam would turn up the volume on his videos. I am tired of being blasted out of my chair when I click to watch another video. But he already said that he never reads the comments. So nothing will change.
And not a single major news outlet covering this, what a shock!
I love my Tesla but version 12 has many bugs. It may just be in my area (hill country Texas) but it cannot make it anywhere without me taking over. I honestly would not want any other car but self driving is not the reason.
Everyone will want FSD as soon as its certified. Fully voice prompt operated is the cherry on top.
Not me. I’d much rather have the car cheaper instead.
So now, cardiologists need to prescribe Teslas for their patients and insurance companies need to pay for them! Ironically, even a day or two saved from ICU care would actually make it a winning proposition, at least in the US.
You might seriously think about adopting a whole food plant-based diet to prevent the CVD that seems to run in your family.
There are many processed foods that are plant based that can cause heart disease… saturated fat & trans fats cause heart disease … also sedentary living.
In America it's not just about getting to the hospital quickly.
Getting to a hospital, well not using an ambulance saves thousands of dollars.
This means the difference between being solvent and financial ruin for many families.
Therefore, using an ambulance could end up costing you your life because of the additional costs involved where you can't afford medications and similar.
Not to mention that an ambulance ride in the US could cost as much as $3000
The title makes it sound like the car recognized the guy was having a heart attack and drove there on its own. I presume the guy programmed the destination at the very least. Did he phone the ER in advance? It wouldn't help very much if the car drove to the ER then just sat there while the guy was passed out...
I tested this functionality during my free trial. I pressed the steering wheel button as I was about 5 miles from our nearest hospital heading in the opposite direction and said “navigate to nearest hospital”. The car took me there albeit with the obligatory nags to let the car know I was still in control. I took me to a parking lot near the entrance and stopped. Had it been an emergency I would have honked the horn and flashed my lights if still conscious. But it’s a start. I think adding EMERGENCY to the command could trigger the car to notify police and intercept the car enroute.
My grandfather had a heart attack in 1970 while driving from North Carolina to Chattanooga, TN. He was driving his 240z (still mad he didn't keep it for me) pulled over, parked and proceeded to pass out. He miraculously woke up hours later in severe pain and drove himself home. FSD truly could save lives. Perhaps Tesla needs to have an emergency FSD mode.
Imagine a passenger that can't drive, how powerless they would be to help. If they could trigger autonomous mode they could save the drivers life.
Phillip.
Possibly self-driving Tesla can be allowed in US. In EU, there is a requirement having redundant systems, like not only cameras but also LiDAR, which Tesla does not have. It is possible that other brands that have redundancy someday will be allowed to self-drive in EU. It might happen that Tesla get redundancy by start using LiDAR again.
No wonder tesla is the safest car in the world and best car in the world
Robotaxis will also report the hospital in advance.
Old people, pregnant women, drunks, injured, kids, animals and even just goods can be transported automatically.
Also possible: spotting emergencies outside of the Robotaxi.
Spotting emergencies is going to be really great.
This needs to be integrated with hospitals - there needs to be a "A&E ASAP" button which activates hazards (or some specific light pattern which becomes identified with "I am a temporary ambulance"), aggressive mode etc, locates nearest A&E, messages them to say that you are coming in and is allowed to park in emergency spots - the spot could even be notified back to the car (what 3 words). The car can keep the hospital updated on progress, connect you by voice to a first aider etc - the relevant team could be waiting for you as you hit your parking spot. I think this would be a huge win for Tesla marketing !
Once something approaching AGI is integrated the car could literally have a conversation with the hospital and even take you to meet an ambulance coming the other way ! It could save a lot of lives - basically, everyone has an ambulance parked in their driveway and ready to go. - AMBULANCE MODE - I wonder how long before your phone or car or some 3rd party equipment in your car can monitor your vitals and send info directly to the hospital so they know what to expect. Robo-Ambulance.
Great video, bad driving causes most accidents.

Notice that the newspaper article mentions Tesla and not just a EV?
@theelectricviking if you haven't already get a home heart monitor mate and then any small irregularities can be picked up before they become serious. I don't have a family history of heart issues, but I'm looking into home health monitoring stuff myself. Great video mate 👍
Love this story!
I have had a heart attack and would have really loved having fsd when I did..
With the latest AI chips (that understand spoken language) and Tesla's FSD mode, the Knight Rider SF has become reality. Anything can be misused, and will be misused, but that is no reason not to develop KITT. Asimov's three robot rules apply for near-future Tesla EVs.

Thanks Dojo!
It's called "MI Mode" and it is buried in some of the FSD settings. Enabled by default.
Had he been unconscious when he arrived, would he have been locked inside the car?
No because the back windows are easy to break. But yes it’s possible the door handles would be locked.
The front driver and passenger windows are laminated so you need a saw to cut through the laminated layer.
Just got 12.3.4 this am. and it is faster to the stop signs, and much quicker on picking back up to speed limit from a stop.
He had a heart attack after receiving a Tesla repair bill.

it's a feature, and I predicted it long, long ago, as I'm super duper smart. they'll have sirens and emergency lights one day. misuse will result in heavy fines. usage must be verified by the hospital or you face fines/prison

Defibrillation is a treatment for life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, specifically ventricular fibrillation and non-perfusing ventricular tachycardia. A defibrillator delivers a dose of electric current to the heart. Wikipedia

Ok Karen
Tesla should make an "Ambulance Mode" , with lights flashing sirens whaling & federally approved to speed & go through lights, this has the potential save millions of human lives & tax payers $$$ spent on Ambulances.
You need it now Sam! With your foot out of action!
I have a new Model Y with standard autopilot. I was very disappointed to learn that it does not work properly in tunnels. Two days ago I had 3 phantom braking episodes travelling north on the north connex tunnel in Sydney Australia and 3 coming back. After making enquires with the Tesla owners club this happens all the time in tunnels. This is not nearly good enough. If FSD is so "close" this should not be an issue. This is the bad. This on the other hand is good. Coming back south before the tunnel I was travelling in the middle lane with autopilot on. I had just gone from the 110 kph zone to the 80 when the car in front pulled up very quickly and stopped behind a break down. Autopilot started to regeneratively brake but I had to slam on the brakes too. I looked in the rear mirrors and the guy behind me successfully pulled up very hard but 4 cars back I saw a lot of smoke and there was a 3 car pile up. Tesla braking is incredibly good. A lot of talk goes on about acceleration but braking is what saves you and Teslas braking is by far the best I have ever experienced in any car PLUS there is one other very important benefit of Teslas braking and that is the brake lights flash when when you pull up hard warning the driver behind you. I am sure the flashing brake lights saved me in this situation. Unfortunately I don't know what the outcome would have been if this incident had occurred in a tunnel.
Did you know they have been improving the breaking with over the air updates? A couple years ago Consumer Reports tested the breaking distance and it was longer than expected. Tesla found the bug and updated the fleet in under 48hr.
Whenever they find a way to optimize the breaking they do. That’s one reason it’s important to go into the service section and make sure it knows what tires you have.
It saved him $2k in a EMC taxi to A&E.
This is a great storey. Any life saved is important. If he had killed someone on the way to the hospital, who is liable?
Currently the human because monitoring the system is still required. But Tesla has stated when it’s good enough you can read a book they will be liable. This is why they already sell car insurance for Teslas and the more you use FSD the cheaper your insurance gets.
@@ecospider5 I did some research & there is no consensus on how the insurance companies will deal with FSD. Some say less, others say more. I think its a flawed technology. It would make more sense to have once central computer with the cars on the network. This way it controls all cars under the same philosophy & can stop all cars before a collision. Just like an airtraffic control system. If I am driving a car & it gets hit by a self driving car I kind of see the manufacturer is at fault.
The problem with a centralized system is the car would require a constant internet connection. And when that internet connection fails bad things happen.
So the Tesla system is fully self contained. It doesn’t need a wireless signal to work.
Search for
controversial robotaxis simply shut down after losing their wireless signals.
To see what happened to Waymo cars when the cell tower went down.
@ecospider5 this is true & I don't see that as an issue. If each car has GPS location, the system will know where it is. With the FSD systems actioned by different FSD software, reactions will be different & and therefore, the outcomes will be more random. Tesla will want to sell you his system but take no responsibility for its failings. For me, that is reckless.
Tesla has started they will be liable for any accident caused by FSD once they remove the monitored requirement. So when FSD changes from level 2 autonomous to level 3 autonomous Tesla has started they will be liable for what the vehicle does.
GPS does not continuously tell a device where it is. GPS tells you where you are when you have a good signal from 5 satellites. So that can never be relied on for real time location. It is location every 10 minutes or so unless you are really lucky.
Tesla to the rescue world
Reuter News Headline for tomorrow Tesla Driver Suffers Heart Attack Because of FSD He Barely Survives.
Melbin!!!!
I knew this system would save lives THOUGH NOT AS I EXPECTED. I assumed it would stop people making fatal mistakes. SAM HAVE REGULAR HEART CHECK UPS - under stress THE CHECK UPS WHILE YOU'RE SAT down are useless.
Not completely useless. But we get your point. If there is that much family history don’t just do the simple blood pressure checkups. Early in life start working with a cardiologist and have them stress your heart and see what happens. You get a ton more information that way.
My dad’s heart was not getting complete signals to pump. So his heart rate was below 40 bpm. We found this out with a simple blood pressure cuff.
Take care of yourself people.

Always here for Elon .
Could be wrong, but I think it was 10 billion dollars on the gpus for full self driving's AI
I have heard this story so many times. What about the guy that was driven into the barrier at high speed or driven under a semi trailer and crushed or trapped in a lake and drowned. The list goes on and on and on.
Of course these things never happen when a human is driving! You need to look at accidents "per capita" for FSD versus accidents "per capita" for human drivers to get a more accurate picture of which is safer, FSD or humans. Don't just rely on cherry picked media reports.
@davidswan482 come on. There will always be times an AI, cameras and radar can be fooled by inocuous things we humans know are not a threat. How many lives are you prepared to sacrifice to improve the system? What's worse is the morons that will try and test these vehicles which will not end well.
@@squishedfrog99-gp4qq That is true. AI, cameras, radar etc can be fooled, but I prefer to look at the actual accident data for humans vs FSD. What does the actual data, properly gathered and presented, actually say? If FSD is better, more lives will be saved using FSD than human drivers. You said it yourself. Humans can be morons, not just testing FSD, but actually driving themselves. If it turns out that humans are better drivers, according to the data, then FSD should be outlawed, but I suspect the opposite will be true. We shall see.
@squishedfrog99-gp4q
The question for society is: does a computer have the same rights to make a mistake and kill somebody that a human does.
Currently with humans driving all the cars in the US 40,000 people per year die from cars. If a computer driving all the cars could reduce that to 4,000 per year should we allow computers to kill those 4,000 people.
It’s not an easy answer. It might become very political.
Why do we need full self driving?
look after yourself, eat more pomegranate, its ok I'll hold your beer
Absolutely incredible to see how technology helps people in new ways!
Autonomy is a true live-saver for cases like this.
Thank you for reporting on this, Electric Viking!
Elon should visit the patient....
Gee, lets wonder if this news will be made available on Fox News, OAN or NewsMax?
20miles? Did autopilot take the long route to an ER?
It's only marketing
So he could have had another heart attack in the EV, and the EV could have delivered him to the hospital, dead. Good he was okay. But call the emergency service first.
FSD asks u to put your hands on the wheel all the time so how? I call bullshit on this story
Btw, sounds like your family eats too much bacon 🥓😎
As good as FSD V12.3.4 is, LET THERE BE NO MISTAKE: It still can and will do STUPID things that you don't want it to do and you MUST supervise it and be ready to take over at all times. For instance (V12.3.3) when passing on the interstate typically drove far ahead of any passed car before pulling back over after passing, EXCEPT when a car trailing you in the passing lane induces FSD to cut back over sooner than you think it should as you get ahead of the passed vehicle. I don't know the best thing to do in that case, perhaps giving it some accelerator as you pass to pull further ahead or maybe take over (with an upstick or button press) before getting ahead and managing the return out of the passing lane yourself, or maybe just hope for that FSD "knows best" and is simply reducing the chance of the car behind you cutting around you before you get back over.... regardless, what I'm saying it you cannot expect FSD to always drive the way you feel is safest and you must be ready to but in and take over, don't let its overall competent driving lull you into thinking it won't screw up or at least upset your calm.
A game-changer to pump-up your Tesla stock then?
