      RCSCC Master Cadet - we strive to perform as well as the sailors, yet they’re way more experienced and skilled. May we all live happily ashore!

      Agree
      As one who served 22 years in the RAN I must sadly agree. Some snowflake decided that we could improve on music that that has been RAN tradition for over 100 years and RN tradition before that.

    • @perotekku
      @perotekku 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very interesting to learn that, as a Canadian.
      The RAN predates the RCN by at least a decade or more, your country was much more forward thinking than Canada in that regard.

    Even though at 2020 Canada has always been chummy with the UK as a former dominion of the Great British Empire, Canada has always my respect and ofc I love how polite and nice everyone is in Canada, tbh I used this song many times playing a computer game called world of warships by the company wargaming.net which puts me in command of Naval ships from the 20th century and i listened to this song countless times when using it as a morale booster, my personal favorites are 3 ships ranking 1 is HMS Warspite or her sister Queen Elizabeth 2nd ranking is the Mighty HMS Hood and lastly HMCS Haida which is a ww2 British built Destroyer but given to the Canadians by the British during world war 2 its a good way to celebrate the 75th anniversary to the victory on Europe and a nod to those who sacrificed their lives to what we owe our freedom today and so Happy VE-Day Folks!

      @Marlo Ogoy Yet America adapts a similar Naval song, called "Anchors Aweigh". Which is supposed to be a "Little Brother" arrangement of Heart of Oak.
      For an example; m.th-cam.com/video/_jbo7eugGw8/w-d-xo.html
      Canada's performance on Heart of Oak cannot be as more Patriotic from the Real writers of the march; The British.

    I often wonder with amazement why "the colonies" didn't see the start of WW2 as the perfect opportunity to rid themselves of Perfidious Albion once and for all.
    My daughters are free to choose almost any path in life they desire, with open, critical minds.
    Thanks.

    • @Perrygallo
      @Perrygallo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Canada and several others were listed as self-governing 'Domions' after the 1931 Statute of Westminster which sought to validate increasing autonomy and less viewing as a 'colony'. WWII was unlike WWI in that the Dominions were not obliged to enter war when the UK did. Of course you and your family are free to pursue your own interests but so too are servicemen, veterans and patriots entitled to indulge in a heritage they can feel proud of. Just bear in mind that you write here with disdain for their British heritage and yet you write it in the most apparent legacy of British culture, the English language.

    • @jimb9063
      @jimb9063 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Perrygallo Wow. Did you see the speech marks I used regarding colonies? It indicated an unsatisfactory statement which will have to do in the circumstances given the limited space.Thought that would be obvious.
      I don't understand how any of what I said showed disdain for anybody! There are plenty of folk from the U.S. I've talked to who have close links to Britain, yet are glad they severed ties when they did.
      I saw a pleasant well made video. It made me think of several countries who chose to go into harms way to help another country who had previously taken control by force of arms of their own country.
      I also thought of the possible consequences had this not been the case.
      So, sorry for saying thanks. We could have done it without you.Always suspected you prefered speaking French.
      Is that better?

      @@jimb9063 Depends on where. Hong Kong for one have less to love of the 'mother' China, from Qing to PRC than they would of the Albion. Britain found it a fishing village and left her a commercial giant of the Orient.

    • @oogdiver
      @oogdiver 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Canada, Australia, and New Zealand had already left "Perfidious Albion" by the outbreak of WW2. Yet as independent countries they chose to make common cause with Britain because that ensured the freedom your daughters enjoy today.
