That’s amazing they do that since they hold the real bargaining power with the ability to say hey if you don’t refund us we notice you only bring in 5K a year in fees for us so we may just drop you as a client. (Pretty sure they can. But also not too sure with all the credit card processors people use now)
One time I had a gym membership that wouldn’t let me cancel. Luckily it was a debit card. So I cancelled the card, and i got a call from the gym asking my payment didn’t go through because of the invalid card. They no longer had the power.
I have an issue bought some sneakers on eBay which seller says they are authentic. , but now seems more like fakes & kinda feel off too , needed for an occasion , but I was wondering is this something I should dispute to my bank that I’am with or stick with eBay? Any suggestions?
I'm a billing investigator for a major credit card and this is why I dislike vids like this. Credit card companies are intermediaries when it comes to disputes. So just because you dispute it does not mean your payment provider can guarantee a win. The way customers are contracted with the credit card, the merchants are contracted with them too. So the credit card is a neutral party that has policies in place on how to handle disputes. And typically the customer has the burden of proof since they opened the dispute. So if it goes in the merchant's favor that typically is the final resolution unless you can provide correspondence from the merchant saying they owe the card member with the last 4 of the card number. So opening disputes are very useful, but not a guarantee that you get the outcome you are seeking. Lastly, that credit may be temporary until there is a resolution that comes from the credit card. Unless it's a chargeback in some cases.
I heard the credit card companies can favor the merchant. What happens to us when then? Does it affect our credit score? I also heard you account goes into a state of in dispute and looks bad when applying for other lines of credit? Is the true lol
Chargebacks can work. It depends on issuer/bank. AmEX takes care of their customers. citi can be tricky? They seem to protect the merchant more. But depends on the card type. (I worked in the credit card industry for 8yrs. This is just my experience)
Yeah, if you have WellsFargo youre SOL. This happened to me with a moving company when I had proof they didn't provide a service for me and they still sided with the company and wouldn't refund my charge.

On my debit card I can just freeze the card in the app and just leave it frozen until they either stop trying it or until I actually need to use it
Once I learned this, I barely make an effort to resolve it - and I let them know I’ll be calling my credit card next. LOVE THIS!!!

This happened to me - the lady who got my case favored the merchant. Basically nothing happens, and they don't refund you the money. :/
