So the drone company lost a good customer and has had their reputation besmirched (too bad for them).... this is all worth far more than $3000. They really made a bad decision there. I learned some things from your video, so thanks!
I don't believe the drone company did anything significantly wrong. maybe they could have been more understanding depending on their business volume and demand for this particular drone... However, the man bought loads of drones that they probably can't return either.. Now they have unexpected money out and a bunch of drones they didn't want that they have to resell hopefully before next year's model comes out. They can't be in business if their transactions lose them money...Everybody has bills to pay..
Thank You for letting the public know about your experience so we all can be aware of the scam in this cruel world we live in. Sorry to hear what you went through.
Sorry you had to go through this man. I just got scammed $225 out of cash app. This scam couple books my recording studio then weeks later I get a chargeback notification.
The plot twist would have been charging back the drone company due to refusing to accept a refund initially. You did your due diligence by calling so times. Thanks for sharing!

imagine how stressful it is for small ecommerce businesses that basically get brute forced into refunds while having paid for the product cost & shipping & never even get their product back.
Sorry to hear of your experience but thanks for sharing. Make sure to give the Drone company appropriate feedback on any retailer review site you find.
@@TylerJohn-kb3kz The $15k chargeback was true fraud, he will not win. The reason why he can (and should) dispute the charge with his bank since this "Justin" made up this charge. Justin's company will then have the chance to represent themselves and they will probably just claim their refund policy, but I do believe OP had a chance of getting that $3k back. His bank (the issuer) will definitely agree that the $3000 was an unexpected charge that shouldn't have been charged. This is assuming the charge was done via Credit Card to the drone merchant. However, this video is years old so it's past the 180 days he had to dispute that $3k charge, assuming he didn't. I also believe he can sue them in civil court because that Justin guy most definitely knew what he was doing lol

Excepted delivery of the bike and then called their CC company and reported the charges as fraud. I’m Sure I’m missing a bunch of details, but we basically got screwed out of $12,000. Why didn't you just do a charge back on the drone company? They clearly didn't live up to their return policy. That's the whole legitimate reason chargebacks exist in the first place.

Very informative....It seems like the cameras that I'm interested in are all on Etsy for really cheap, seems like it must be a scam...What do you think about buying from Etsy through Paypal,..can I get scammed?
Depends on the case and the amount of money. I was scammed out of 300.00 dollars on paypal and the cops never did anything, even though they said they will.
When you have so losse laws and regulations being greed is put in 1 place in that situation, scamers prey on greed of other people, 2 is very eye opening what retailers go trught in day by day and why they are professionals
Two questions: 1) That there are so many scammers preying on others, what does it say about the integrity of humans in general? And 2) My experience suggests that India is a hot bed of scammers such that either a South- or East-Asian accent or name has become a red flag for me. Does the culture of the region regard integrity as a weakness of other cultures, such that exploitation is a fully justified and morally acceptable practice? That is, the fools deserve what they get.
Interesting take, you might actually be on to something. Trust between strangers varies greatly between cultures. Where I'm from people don't scam or steal from other people unless they're suffering from a personality disorder. It's really sad that there are cultures where you have to constantly be on guard and expect the worst from strangers.
@@emousie I suspect prejudice stems largely from cultural differences. Then, if such cultural differences are associated with race, the prejudice is interpreted as "racism." So, maybe we should coin the term "culturism."
I am from the Netherlands. End one time a Asian friend came here and i showed a lot, and how life is here and they where so surprised that the level of trust is so high to anyone really.
Thanks for the info about credit cards. My man, they have money out and now they have to store these and hope to sell them sometime soon before next year's model is released... You are lucky you didn't have to sell them on craigslist like you thought you might have to.. Good job finding Arielle tho. That's effort
No offence dude, but you could have summed this video up in 8 mins??.. You spent way too much time explaining your feelings. Stick more to the facts next time.
They were supposed to get forwarded to the US. But according to the Virtual Office, they had been sending other packages for the same scam artist all over the world.
@@Movesmedia I suppose for items worth thousands of dollars, you can ask for those details, but most people would probably feel weirded out if those things were required for every credit card purchase. Thank you for sharing though. Also, do you know how scams through PayPal work?
@@jennychen2636 if you can get billing addresses and mailing addresses to match you also should be OK. I'm not sure about PayPal but I would guess it's similar to what happened here. Although not sure if their platform is better at preventing it with more info required for people's profiles.
I wouldn't have paid that 3,000 at all.I would have canceled my card there is NO WAY in Hell you should have paid that. And I would put them on blast let everyone locally know how they handle business 🤨I don't care if it is their policy or not.The drones weren't even opened tampered with or anything! So I wouldn't have paid it
How can you verify ID for an ecommerce platform? I feel like its impossible to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Who will agree to give you an ID with their card number for an online website? Like amazon? I wish honest business people could be in control of the payment processing without relying on other companies to be the judge and jury which has no checks an balances. Its like an insurance company not wanting to do a payout for what they advertised, nobody to hold them accountable without spending tons of money and time.
...and the CanDrone employees whose license plates from the parking lot you ran how did they fare when the BC Sex Crimes unit investigated the child sex abuse claims each of their families had anonymously filed against them with Child Protective Services?
How do you block your credit card from online purchase it happened to me today just as well my mum account thankyou watch out for scum artist and people who know
How do you block from the glitches your own digital wallet is responsible for with good trust barriers. Your responsible for their unsecured transactions you didn't make?
Your understanding of a restocking fee is clearly skewed. This has nothing to do with what it cost them to send them to you. It has to do directly with what it costs them to take them back. Once they've been through a shipping process, restocking a product requires potentially repacking, retesting or in some cases having to sell them as refurbished. Unopened helps, but still represents a period where the product wasn't potentially available, leading to lost sales. Companies aren't in business to hold your money in a savings acct until some point at which you decide to keep the product. In your case, there was no real justification for returning them...they weren't flawed, defective, etc. You got scammed but then we're essentially passing the cost incurred, partially on to the company you purchased from. Then in addition, your intent is to harm their reputation with this video. You're putting their company in the same position you're in. I agree their return policy should give you some blanket of security though, depending on how it's worded. In the end, I empathize with your situation.
Man if you got $15k worth of drones at wholesale, I guarantee you if you would have listed on eBay for that same whole sale price that they would sell! Even if you did an auction and fell short, I doubt you would have fallen $3,000 short so still came out a little better!
It is the merchants job to protect themselves using customer identity verification services especially with high-ticket sales. 81% of consumers who admit to chargeback fraud admit the main reason they do it is because it was easy to do it. Even US based consumers. Also, to setup a virtual address you need to go through a notory process with the US postal registered notory business where they go on video and take licenses and manually do a check to figure out if the person is who they say they are. However, there is a chance that this person who owns the notory is being paid to create this account for someone else and has no clue what is going on. Regardless this case could be taken to the FBI, not the local police. The police does not have anything they can do but the FBI deals with this stuff all the time.
This just seems like a mistake as a beginner seller selling these products and services. Chargebacks are increasing by 20% every year. And it's not just third world countries, only 14% of US claims actually even speak to the merchant before making a claim. And 81% say they do it because it's easy. I do believe there should be better consumer and merchant education, however, I do agree customer service was poor and probably a manager would have more power to waive the 3,000 stocking fee especially if you show that you are very angry and upset. Even show off your influencer power. Get what you deserve and going forward know how to hire a third party notory agency or a customer identity verification solution that will help you against 60% of the worlds current chargebacks.
Really sucks that the internet isn't safe, even if it's just a few bad apples. 7:58 Yeah, I didn't know that such a thing existed either. I'm from Europe, but I'm sure that people from the US would've tried to file a lawsuit against that virtual office. No way, they didn't make themselves liable by assisting a scam artist. Did you talk to a lawyer at all, or is it just pointless in Canada? I think the police thing is honestly the same around the world. They do jack shit in these kinds of cases. A ton of people are getting scammed nowadays because technology is also becoming more sophisticated and with this AI stuff they will be able to deceive even more. Especially the old folks have no clue what this technology is capable of. A family member of mine also got scammed, even though I would've noticed it instantly. I honestly didn't even think many people fall for this stuff until it happened within my own family. At least thankfully, they could get their money back.
Lesson learned here: #1 A business that sold you something does not care or need to about you getting scammed. #2: you got greedy and wanted to make profit; but you didn't do your due dilegence so you got scammed. #3: you went back to the OEM dealer and asked for help and they didn't give it to you and you complain how poor their customer service is? They aren't responsible and this is completely fair. Next time don't try to make profit this way. Lesson learned?

@@osamadias1756 dam i got scam off 600
Thank you for the info man
When you have so losse laws and regulations being greed is put in 1 place in that situation, scamers prey on greed of other people, 2 is very eye opening what retailers go trught in day by day and why they are professionals
My business partner once shipped a Compaq laptop from a telephone order. It turned out to be from a prisoner.
Justin is a scammer himself. You should have done a chargeback to him
Everyone is a scammer son!! They wanna charge you for getting your money back ?!
I do think it's kind of unreasonable of you to be upset about the stated restocking fee considering the amount of drones you purchased. at about 14:00 you act like this situation is the drone companies fault somehow...
You didn't mention which country was the destination for the drones once they left Canada.
They were supposed to get forwarded to the US. But according to the Virtual Office, they had been sending other packages for the same scam artist all over the world.
The system is flawed and small businesses get the brunt of this. I work on a payment team and help clients fight these every day, it’s sad.
Do you think people can do charge back if they signed paperwork and you know them ?
As long as you have a copy of their ID w address and their billing address is the same as their ID, you should be fine.
@@Movesmedia in the service field we do not really ask for ID
So I wouldn't have paid it
Wow there really are a lot of business out there that should not be allowed to trade.
How do you get money back or you don’t
Damn. Bro u went through hell
You got them for wholesale! You could’ve at least sold them to break even! Or even if you lost a few hundred dollars but not 3k! That 3k is crazy!
they close my account for no reason paypal is soo annoying
How can you verify ID for an ecommerce platform? I feel like its impossible to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Who will agree to give you an ID with their card number for an online website? Like amazon? I wish honest business people could be in control of the payment processing without relying on other companies to be the judge and jury which has no checks an balances. Its like an insurance company not wanting to do a payout for what they advertised, nobody to hold them accountable without spending tons of money and time.
for bigger amounts
only accept bank wire transfer
...and the CanDrone employees whose license plates from the parking lot you ran how did they fare when the BC Sex Crimes unit investigated the child sex abuse claims each of their families had anonymously filed against them with Child Protective Services?
How do you block your credit card from online purchase it happened to me today just as well my mum account thankyou watch out for scum artist and people who know
How do you block from the glitches your own digital wallet is responsible for with good trust barriers. Your responsible for their unsecured transactions you didn't make?
So Candrone scammed you for being scammed, marvelous.
yes this is how the world works nowadays... physically on my bankaccount xD
Selling 15K worth of product on eBay is over 2K in fees not including shipping also with potential of a few being charged back 🤷🏿♂️
It is the merchants job to protect themselves using customer identity verification services especially with high-ticket sales.
At least thankfully, they could get their money back.
why didn't you just give him the website where you buy the drones from?
He stated that he bought the drones from the company at a discount, so he sold it to the guy at regular price to make a profit !
@@infoforanything6496 oh, and that was six months ago, but thanks anyway i guess.
what a crazy story
I panicked after Paypal ,the caller, was asking for the bank card numbers.
Consider yourself luck, it could have been way worse. Be glad you only paid 3k to learn a lesson that could save you much more down the road.
From June 26, 2020 until today September 27, 2020. I didn't received the items until now. Paypal can't help a lot, because they themselves can't track if there's an email sent to me by their platform. The money was already received thru paypal express. Can't imagine i was scammed in the midst of pandemic.
