@@vernal6944 Yes, I do believe that witches exist. We have several videos on the occult posted on our TH-cam channel and website. I was asking seriously if she has claimed to be a witch. I don't know her well so maybe she has claimed it.
My other comment was that I think it is risky to think too much about the gods of ancient Egypt. They can become an obsession and lead one into the occult.

I watch some of these because I adore her voice and her passion for history.
Joann Fletcher is one of the best to ever do it. As a historian she really ignites the excitement of her audience regardless of their background or familiarity of the topic discussed. She makes me feel like I'm learning this topic for the first time and that's always a treasure to experience.
Her and Mary Beard are my favourites. Mary Beard for Rome, Joann Fletcher for Egypt. They both are really awesome. I love their documentaries.

Hey now! I'm a huge fan of Joanna and her passion and strong emotions for ancient Egypt is definitely on full display, but there's nothing wrong with Dr. Hawass. He is very well qualified as well and shares his vast knowledge and passion for all things Egypt in his own unique way. I care the world for them both, and really appreciate their lifelong learning and devotion to this important field of research.

Cleopatra was an invader of Kemet. Cleopatra is a Greek and part of the Ptolomey years and the Alexander the great conquest. The land wasn't even called Eygpt at all by the original people. White people please stop trying to include yourself with these people. Your ancestors are Greeks and Romans.

Exquisitely done. After watching these episodes, I find that this lady was in search of truths and found some but was careful enough to not ruffle any feathers of the powers that be. She kept me on the edge of my seat awaiting a great reveal only to leave us to piece things together on our own (typical professor). For her to be able to dissect various factors and compile those mysteries then lay them out revealing just enough to show how history has been covered up while taking us on a journey from one dynasty to the next is nothing short of remarkable.
Yael, I thought the video was interesting but I don’t know enough about ancient history to get what you mean about ruffling feathers and coverup. The bulk of my “knowledge” comes from having read 2 historical novels. Speculation about how the pyramids were built was the topic du jour when I was a teenager during the Stone Age. Could you help me out?
Utterly brilliant 4 part series.... I have often dipped in and out of the History but never been able to put it in a timeline like Joann and the team have. It gives such better understanding to the history of this remarkable civilisation, Thank you!

@@Planet_Shel Take the Serapeum for example. 26:30 Those magnificent huge 100 ton Granite Boxes are mindbending masterpieces of precision we would have no machines to built today, the transportation in these narrow tunnels wouldnt be possible either, and no bulls have never been found in these. These were found by the egyptians and worshiped, but they couldnt have ever built them.

She doesn't complicate anything too much, making it easy for anyone to understand. You may have read extensively on Egypt, but there are people who are new to this.

She was banned from Egypt back in 2003, because she was making fraudulent "discoveries". She was investigating the mummy of a man and she announced that she discovered Nefertiti. Zahi Hawass the head of Antiquities in Egypt found out about this fraud and had her banned from Egypt. The lady is better to tell a story than get involved in Archaeology a field that is uncharted waters for her.

It wasn't. It's the 'younger lady' and DNA analysis has proved that she was Tutankhamun's mother. It's thought that she was a sister of Akhenaten, but she may have been Nefertiti.

I have a whole playlist that I watch at night, for sleeping. I play it every night and I never get tired of it. The whole thing is about Egypt, and the majority are by Joann Fletcher. She, and Bettany Hughes, are my favorites!
Before I moved to the US I lived in Manchester. I loved going to Manchester Museum just to see the mummies, they fascinated me so much. I told myself I would go to Egypt one day but it never happened. I appreciate you showing this absolutely awesome program about Egypt, it pulls me close to the beauty of the country. I actually wanted to go on digs when I was young but unfortunately my mom had other plans for us. The US is still a young country and they have been finding mummified bodies in Florida in a bog that are around 7,000 years old, just awesome. These mummies were found intact and with brains still in their skull. If I were still young and in better health I would have loved to be an archeologist and travel the ancient worlds. Maybe one of my grandchildren will be fascinated enough to do it.

I extensively toured Egypt right as covid was starting and no one there. Was amazed by the history and had no idea what I was looking at. Now, I'm watching these documentaries to explain further what I saw. Had a guide but this is much better.

I am Greek and I cried tears of emotion watching this series. I feel such a strong connection to this land and its history. Egypt really is a seductress that manages to integrate anyone who aspires to conquer it. The Greek Egyptian hybrid was truly beautiful. Such a wonderful and culturally rich land Egypt is. They mocked each other and were political enemies with each other, trying to gain power over each other. Don't confuse ancient macedonian tribe with modern day country of North macedonia. The ancient region of macedonia is now split between four modern countries: Greece owns the south part (about 55% of ancient macedonian territory), North Macedonia owns the north part (about 35%), smaller percentages are also on albania and Bulgaria. In the Greek part, the palace of Alexander the great's family, and their tombs, several buildings and artefacts have been found. All with greek inscriptions. In the part of North Macedonia, they also find a lot of things with greek inscriptions but they do not shout about them because they don't want to admit macedonians were a greek tribe (they are slavic speaking and have their own propaganda that claims macedonians were not greek, even though the entire historian community mocks them relentlessly)

I would have loved a whole episode dedicated to the Ptolemaic dynasty, they were a fabulously Interesting dysfunctional family. Joann also wrote a book called the history of Egypt, it really is super, well written and highly readable, , it’s a great introduction to the joys of Ancient Egypt.

Something struck me…we look at ancient things like the gold bracelets with awe and reverence. But it’s funny to think of the prince tossing them on a table at the end of the day like we do our watch and keys - glad to be rid of them for the day. Just every day objects to those who used them.
I've always loved Prof. Fletcher and was delighted to come across a documentary where she takes center stage. And she carries the whole thing nearly by herself. Really enjoyed this!

I like it that the invaders can't truly invades Ancient Egypt's culture, they still need to follow theirs ways and religion to rule Egypt, that proves how strong Ancient Egypt's root was.
